2 Timothy
Chapter 1
1:1Paul an Apostle of Jesus Christos, by the will of Theos, according to the promise of life which is in Christos Jesus,
1:2To Timothy my beloved son:Grace, eleos and peace from Theos the Father, and from Jesus Christos our Kyrios.
1:3I thank Theos, whom I serve from my elders with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of you in my supplications night and day,
1:4Desiring to see you, mindful of your tears, that I may be filled with joy:
1:5When I call to remembrance the sincere faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois, and in your mother Eunice, and am assured that it dwells in you also.
1:6Therefore, I put you in remembrance that you fan into flame the gift of Theos who is in you, by the putting on of my hands.
1:7For Theos has not given to us the Spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
1:8Be not therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Kyrios, neither of me his prisoner:but be partaker of the afflictions of the Gospel, according to the power of Theos,
1:9Who has saved us,and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given to us through Christos Jesus before the world was,
1:10But is now made manifest by that appearing of our Savior Jesus Christos, who has abolished death, and has brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel.
1:11To what I am appointed a preacher,and Apostle,and a teacher of the Gentiles.
1:12For the which cause I also suffer these things, but I am not ashamed:for I know whom I have believed, and I am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed to him against that day.
1:13Keep the true pattern of the wholesome words, which you have heard of me in faith and love which is in Christos Jesus.
1:14That worthy thing, which was committed to you, keep through the Holy Spirit, which dwells in us.
1:15This you know, that all they who are in Asia, be turned from me:of which sort are Phygellus and Hermogenes.
1:16The Kyrios give eleos to the house of Onesiphorus:for he oft refreshed me,and was not ashamed of my chain,
1:17But when he was at Rome, he sought me out very diligently, and found me.
1:18The Kyrios grant to him, that he may find eleos with the Kyrios at that day,and in how many things he has ministered to me at Ephesus, you know very well.
Chapter 2
2:1You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christos Jesus.
2:2And what things you have heard of me, by many witnesses, the same deliver to faithful men, who shall be able to teach other also.
2:3You therefore suffer affliction as a good soldier of Jesus Christos.
2:4No man that wars, entangles himself with the affairs of this life, because he would please him that has chosen him to be a soldier.
2:5And if any man also strive for a Mastery, he is not crowned, except he strive as he ought to do.
2:6The husbandman must labor before he receive the fruits.
2:7Consider what I say:and the Kyrios give you understanding in all things:
2:8Remember that Jesus Christos, made of the seed of David, was raised again from the dead according to my Gospel,
2:9In which I suffer trouble as an evildoer, even to bonds:but the word of Theos is not bound.
2:10Therefore I suffer all things, for the elect sake, that they might also obtain the salvation which is in Christos Jesus, with eternal glory.
2:11It is a true saying,For if we be dead together with him, we also shall live together with him.
2:12If we suffer, we shall also reign together with him:if we deny him, he also will deny us.
2:13If we believe not, yet abides he faithful:he cannot deny himself.
2:14Of these things put them in remembrance, and protest before the Kyrios, that they strive not about words, which is to no profit, but to the perverting of the hearers.
2:15Study to show yourself approved to Theos, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, dividing the word of truth aright.
2:16Stay profane, and vain babblings:for they shall increase to more ungodliness.
2:17And their word shall fret as a cancer:of which sort is Hymenaeus and Philetus,
2:18Which as concerning the truth have erred from the mark, saying that the resurrection is past already, and do destroy the faith of certain.
2:19But the foundation of Theos remains sure, and has this seal, The Kyrios knows who are his:and, Let every one that calls on the Name of Christos, depart from unrighteousness.
2:20Notwithstanding in a great house are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth, and some for honor, and some to dishonor.
2:21If any man therefore cleanse himself from these, he shall be a vessel to honor, sanctified, and meet for the Lord, and prepared to every good work.
2:22Flee also from the lusts of youth, and follow after righteousness, faith, love, and peace, with them that call on the Kyrios with pure heart,
2:23And put away foolish and unlearned questions, knowing that they ingender strife.
2:24But the servant of Kyrios must not strive, but must be gentle toward all men, apt to teach, suffering the evil,
2:25Instructing them with meekness that are contrary minded, proving if Theos at any time will give them repentance,to the knowledge of the truth,
2:26And come to amendment out of that snare of Diabolos, of whom they are taken prisoners, to do his will.
Chapter 3
3:1This know also, that in the last days shall come perilous times.
3:2For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, cursed speakers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3:3Without natural affection, truce breakers, false accusers, intemperate, fierce, no lovers at all of them which are good,
3:4Traitors, heady, high minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God,
3:5Having a show of godliness, but have denied the power of it: turn away therefore from such.
3:6For of this sort are they who creep into houses, and lead captive simple women laden with sins, and led with diverse lusts,
3:7Which women are ever learning, and are never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
3:8And as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth, men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.
3:9But they shall prevail no longer:for their madness shall be evident to all men, as theirs also was.
3:10But you have fully known my doctrine, manner of living, purpose, faith, long suffering, love, patience,
3:11Persecutions,and afflictions which came to me at Antioch, at Iconium, and at Lystra, which persecutions I suffered:but from them all the Kyrios delivered me.
3:12Yes,and all that will live godly in Christos Jesus, shall suffer persecution.
3:13But the evil men and deceivers, shall grow worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.
3:14But continue in the things which you have learned, and which are committed to you, knowing of whom you have learned them:
3:15And that you have known the holy Scriptures of a child, who are able to make the wise to salvation, through the faith which is in Christos Jesus.
3:16For the whole Scripture is given by inspiration of God,and is profitable to teach, to convince, to correct, and to instruct in righteousness,
3:17That the man of Theos may be absolute, being made perfect to all good works.
Chapter 4
4:1I charge you therefore before Theos, and before the Kyrios Jesus Christos, who shall judge the living and dead at that his appearing, and in his kingdom,
4:2Preach the word:be instant, in season and out of season:improve, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.
4:3For the time will come, when they will not suffer wholesome doctrine:but having their ears itching, shall after their own lusts get them a heap of teachers,
4:4And shall turn their ears from the truth, and shall be given to fables.
4:5But watch you in all things:suffer adversity:do the work of an Evangelist:cause your ministry to be thoroughly liked of.
4:6For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departing is at hand.
4:7I have fought a good fight, and have finished my course:I have kept the faith.
4:8For from here forth is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Kyrios the righteous judge shall give me at that day:and not to me only, but to all them also that love that his appearing.
4:9Make speed to come to me at once:
4:10For Demas has forsaken me,and has embraced this present world, and is departed to Thessalonica. Crescens is gone to Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia.
4:11Only Luke is with me. Take Mark and bring him with you:for he is profitable to me to minister.
4:12And Tychicus have I sent to Ephesus.
4:13The cloak that I left at Troas with Carpus, when you come, bring with you,and the books, but especially the parchments.
4:14Alexander the coppersmith has done me much evil:the Kyrios reward him according to his works.
4:15Guard yourself against him also:for he withstood our preaching sore.
4:16At my first answering no man assisted me,but all forsook me:I pray God,that it may not be laid to their charge.
4:17Notwithstanding the Kyrios assisted me,and strengthened me,that by me the preaching might be fully believed, and that all the Gentiles should hear:and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.
4:18And the Kyrios will deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me to his heavenly kingdom:to whom be praise forever and ever, Amen.
4:19Salute Prisca and Aquila, and the household of Onesiphorus.
4:20Erastus abode at Corinth:Trophimus I left at Miletus sick.
4:21Make speed to come before winter. Eubulus greets you,and Pudens, and Linus, and Claudia, and all the brethren.
4:22The Kyrios Jesus Christos be with your spirit. Grace be with you, Amen. The second Epistle written from Rome to Timothy, the first Bishop elected of the Church of Ephesus, when Paul was presented the second time before the Emperor Nero.
