Psalms
Chapter 1
1:1Blessed is the man that does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sit in the seat of the scornful:
1:2But his delight is in the Law of YHWH,and in his Law does he meditate day and night.
1:3For he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of waters, that will bring forth her fruit in due season:whose leaf shall not fade:so whatever he shall do, shall prosper.
1:4The wicked are not so,but as the chaff, which the wind drives away.
1:5Therefore the wicked shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.
1:6For YHWH knows the way of the righteous, and the way of the wicked shall perish.
Chapter 2
2:1Why do the heathen rage, and the people murmur in vain?
2:2The Kings of the earth band themselves, and the princes are assembled together against YHWH,and against his Christ.
2:3Let us break their bands, and cast their cords from us.
2:4But he that dwells in the heaven, shall laugh:Adonai shall have them in derision.
2:5Then shall he speak to them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure, saying,
2:6Even I have set my King upon Zion my holy mountain.
2:7I will declare the decree:that is, YHWH has said to me, You are my Son:this day have I begotten you.
2:8Ask of me,and I shall give you the heathen for your inheritance, and the ends of the earth for your possession.
2:9You shall crush them with a scepter of iron, and break them in pieces like a potters vessel.
2:10Be wise now therefore, you Kings:be instructed, you Judges of the earth.
2:11Serve YHWH in fear, and rejoice in trembling.
2:12Kiss the son, lest he be angry, and you perish in the way, when his wrath shall suddenly burn. Blessed are all that trust in him.
Chapter 3
3:1A Psalm of David, when he fled from his son Absalom.
3:2YHWH, how are my adversaries increased? How many rise against me?
3:3Many say to my nephesh, There is no help for him in Elohim. Selah.
3:4But YHWH are a buckler for me:my glory, and the lifter up of my head.
3:5I did call to YHWH with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy mountain. Selah.
3:6I laid me down and slept, and rose up again:for YHWH sustained me.
3:7I will not be afraid for ten thousand of the people, that should beset me round about.
3:8O YHWH, arise:help me, my Elohim:for you have smitten all my enemies upon the cheek bone:you have broken the teeth of the wicked.
3:9Salvation belongs to YHWH,and your blessing is upon your people. Selah.
Chapter 4
4:1To him that excels on Neginoth. A Psalm of David.
4:2Hear me when I call, O Elohim of my righteousness: you have set me at liberty, when I was in distress: be gracious to me and listen to my prayer.
4:3O the sons of men, how long will you turn my glory into shame, loving vanity, and seeking lies? Selah.
4:4For be you sure that YHWH has chosen to himself a godly man:YHWH will hear when I call to him.
4:5Tremble,and sin not:examine your own heart upon your bed,and be still. Selah.
4:6Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and trust in YHWH.
4:7Many say, Who will show us any good? But YHWH, lift up the light of your countenance upon us.
4:8You have given me more joy of heart, than they have had, when their wheat and their wine did abound.
4:9I will lay me down, and also sleep in peace:for you, YHWH, only make me dwell in safety.
Chapter 5
5:1To him that excels upon Nehiloth. A Psalm of David.
5:2Hear my words, O YHWH: understand my meditation.
5:3Listen to the voice of my cry, my King and my Elohim:for to you do I pray.
5:4Hear my voice in the morning, O YHWH:for in the morning will I direct me to you,and I will wait.
5:5For you are not a El that loves wickedness:neither shall evil dwell with you.
5:6The foolish shall not stand in your sight:for you hate all them that work iniquity.
5:7You shall destroy them that speak lies:YHWH will abhor the bloody man and deceitful.
5:8But I will come into your house in the multitude of your chesed:and in your fear will I worship toward your holy Temple.
5:9Lead me, O YHWH, in Your righteousness, because of my enemies:make your way plain before my face.
5:10For no constancy is in their mouth:within, they are very corruption:their throat is an open sepulchre, and they flatter with their tongue.
5:11Destroy them, O Elohim:let them fall from their counsels:cast them out for the multitude of their iniquities, because they have rebelled against you.
5:12And let all them that trust in you, rejoice and triumph forever, and cover you them:and let them, that love your Name, rejoice in you.
5:13For YHWH will bless the righteous, and with favor will compass him, as with a shield.
Chapter 6
6:1To him that excels on Neginoth upon the eighth tune. A Psalm of David.
6:2O YHWH, rebuke me not in your anger, neither chastise me in your wrath.
6:3Be gracious to me, O YHWH,for I am weak:O YHWH heal me,for my bones are vexed.
6:4My nephesh is also sore troubled:but YHWH how long will you delay?
6:5Return, O YHWH:deliver my nephesh:save me for your chesed sake.
6:6For in death there is no remembrance of you:in Sheol who shall praise you?
6:7I fainted in my mourning:I cause my bed every night to swim, and water my couch with my tears.
6:8My eye is dimmed for despite, and sunk in because of all my enemies.
6:9Away from me all you workers of iniquity:for YHWH has heard the voice of my weeping.
6:10YHWH has heard my petition:YHWH will receive my prayer.
6:11All my enemies shall be confounded and sore vexed:they shall be turned back, and put to shame suddenly.
Chapter 7
7:1Shigaion of David, which he sang to YHWH, concerning the words of Chush the son of Jemini.
7:2O YHWH my Elohim, in You I put my trust: save me from all that persecute me, and deliver me,
7:3Lest he devour my nephesh like a lion, and tear it in pieces, while there is none to help.
7:4O YHWH my Elohim, if I have done this thing, if there be any wickedness in my hands,
7:5If I have rewarded evil to him that had peace with me, (yes I have delivered him that vexed me without cause)
7:6Then let the enemy persecute my nephesh and take it:yes, let him tread my life down upon the earth, and lay my honor in the dust. Selah.
7:7Arise, O YHWH, in Your wrath, and lift up yourself against the rage of my enemies, and awake for me according to the judgment that you have appointed.
7:8So shall the Congregation of the people compass you about:for their sakes therefore return on high.
7:9YHWH shall judge the people:Judge me, O YHWH, according to my righteousness, and according to my innocency, that is in me.
7:10Oh let the malice of the wicked come to an end:but guide you the just:for the righteous Elohim tries the hearts and reins.
7:11My defense is in Elohim, who preserves the upright in heart.
7:12Elohim judges the righteous, and him that contemns El every day.
7:13Except he turn, he has whet his sword:he has bent his bow and made it ready.
7:14He has also prepared him deadly weapons:he will ordain his arrows for them that persecute me.
7:15Behold, he labors with wickedness:for he has conceived mischief, but he shall bring forth a lie.
7:16He has made a pit and digged it,and is fallen into the pit that he made.
7:17His mischief shall return upon his own head, and his cruelty shall fall upon his own head.
7:18I will praise YHWH according to his righteousness, and will sing praise to the Name of YHWH most high.
Chapter 8
8:1To him that excels on Gittith. A Psalm of David.
8:2O YHWH our Lord, how excellent is Your Name in all the world! Which have set Your glory above the heavens.
8:3Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings have you ordained strength, because of your enemies, that you might still the enemy and the avenger.
8:4When I behold your heavens, even the works of your fingers, the moon and the stars which you have ordained,
8:5What is man, say I,that you are mindful of him? And the son of man, that you visit him?
8:6For you have made him a little lower than Elohim, and crowned him with glory and worship.
8:7You have made him have dominion in the works of your hands:you have put all things under his feet:
8:8All sheep and oxen:yes, and the beasts of the field:
8:9The fowls of the air,and the fish of the sea,and that which passes through the paths of the seas.
8:10O YHWH our Lord, how excellent is Your Name in all the world!
Chapter 9
9:1To him that excels upon Muth-labben. A Psalm of David.
9:2I will praise YHWH with my whole heart: I will speak of all your marvelous works.
9:3I will be glad, and rejoice in you:I will sing praise to your Name, O most High,
9:4For that my enemies are turned back:they shall fall, and perish at your presence.
9:5For you have maintained my right and my cause:you are set in the throne, and judge right.
9:6You have rebuked the heathen:you have destroyed the wicked:you have put out their name forever and ever.
9:7O enemy, destructions are come to a perpetual end,and you have destroyed the cities:their memorial is perished with them.
9:8But YHWH shall sit forever:he has prepared his throne for judgment.
9:9For he shall judge the world in righteousness, and shall judge the people with equity.
9:10YHWH also will be a refuge for the poor, a refuge in due time, even in affliction.
9:11And they that know your Name, will trust in you:for you, YHWH, have not failed them that seek you.
9:12Sing praises to YHWH, who dwells in Zion:show the people his works.
9:13For when he makes inquisition for blood, he remembers it,and forget not the complaint of the poor.
9:14Be gracious to me, O YHWH:consider my trouble which I suffer of them that hate me, you that lift me up from the gates of death,
9:15That I may show all your praises within the gates of the daughter of Zion, and rejoice in your salvation.
9:16The heathen are sunken down in the pit that they made:in the net that they hid, is their foot taken.
9:17YHWH is known by executing judgment:the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. Higgaion. Selah.
9:18The wicked shall turn into Sheol, and all nations that forget Elohim.
9:19For the poor shall not be always forgotten:the hope of the afflicted shall not perish forever.
9:20Up YHWH:let not man prevail:let the heathen be judged in your sight.
9:21Put them in fear, O YHWH,that the heathen may know that they are but men. Selah.
Chapter 10
10:1Why do You stand far off, O YHWH,and hide you in due time, even in affliction?
10:2The wicked with pride does persecute the poor:let them be taken in the crafts that they have imagined.
10:3For the wicked has made boast of his own nephesh's desire, and the covetous blesses himself:he contemns YHWH.
10:4The wicked is so proud that he seeks not for Elohim:he thinks always, There is no God.
10:5His ways always prosper:your judgments are high above his sight:therefore defies he all his enemies.
10:6He says in his heart, I shall never be moved, nor be in danger.
10:7His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud:under his tongue is mischief and iniquity.
10:8He lies in wait in the villages:in the secret places does he murder the innocent:his eyes are bent against the poor.
10:9He lies in wait secretly, even as a lion in his den:he lies in wait to spoil the poor:he does spoil the poor, when he draws him into his net.
10:10He crouches and bows:therefore heaps of the poor do fall by his might.
10:11He has said in his heart, El has forgotten, he hides away his face, and will never see.
10:12Arise, O YHWH El:lift up your hand:forget not the poor.
10:13Why does the wicked contemn Elohim? He says in his heart, You will not regard.
10:14Yet you have seen it:for you behold mischief and wrong, that you may take it into your hands:the poor commits himself to you:for you are the helper of the fatherless.
10:15Break you the arm of the wicked and malicious:search his wickedness, and you shall find none.
10:16YHWH is King forever and ever:the heathen are destroyed forth of his land.
10:17YHWH, you have heard the desire of the poor:you prepare their heart:you bend your ear to them,
10:18To judge the fatherless and poor, that earthly man cause to fear no more.
Chapter 11
11:1To him that excels. A Psalm of David. In YHWH put I my trust:how do you say then to my nephesh, Flee to your mountain as a bird?
11:2For lo, the wicked bend their bow,and make ready their arrows upon the string, that they may secretly shoot at them, which are upright in heart.
11:3For the foundations are cast down:what has the righteous done?
11:4YHWH is in his holy palace:YHWH's throne is in the heaven:his eyes will consider:his eye lids will try the children of men.
11:5YHWH will try the righteous:but the wicked and him that loves iniquity, does his nephesh hate.
11:6Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire, and brimstone, and stormy tempest:this is the portion of their cup.
11:7For the righteous YHWH loves righteousness:his countenance does behold the just.
Chapter 12
12:1To him that excels upon the eighth tune. A Psalm of David.
12:2Help YHWH, for there is not a godly man left: for the faithful are failed from among the children of men.
12:3They speak deceitfully every one with his neighbor, flattering with their lips, and speak with a double heart.
12:4YHWH cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaks proud things:
12:5Which have said, With our tongue will we prevail:our lips are our own:who is Lord over us?
12:6Now for the oppression of the needy, and for the sighs of the poor, I will up, saysYHWH,and will set at liberty him, whom the wicked has snared.
12:7The words of YHWH are pure words, as the silver, tried in a furnace of earth, fined seven fold.
12:8You will keep them, O YHWH:you will preserve him from this generation forever.
12:9The wicked walk on every side:when they are exalted, it is a shame for the sons of men.
Chapter 13
13:1To him that excels. A Psalm of David.
13:2How long will you forget me, O YHWH, forever? How long will you hide your face from me?
13:3How long shall I take counsel within myself, having weariness daily in my nephesh? How long shall my enemy be exalted above me?
13:4Behold,and hear me, O YHWH my Elohim:lighten my eyes, that I sleep not in death:
13:5Lest my enemy say, I have prevailed against him:and they that afflict me, rejoice when I slide.
13:6But I trust in your chesed:my heart shall rejoice in your salvation:I will sing to YHWH, because he has dealt lovingly with me.
Chapter 14
14:1To him that excels. A Psalm of David. The fool has said in his heart, There is no Elohim:they have corrupted, and done an abominable work:there is none that does good.
14:2YHWH looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that would understand, and seek Elohim.
14:3All are gone out of the way:they are all corrupt:there is none that does good, no not one.
14:4Do not all the workers of iniquity know that they eat up my people, as they eat bread? They call not upon YHWH.
14:5There they shall be taken with fear, because Elohim is in the generation of the just.
14:6You have made a mock at the counsel of the poor, because YHWH is his trust.
14:7Oh give salvation to Israel out of Zion:when YHWH turns the captivity of his people, then Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.
Chapter 15
15:1A Psalm of David. YHWH, who shall dwell in your Tabernacle? Who shall rest in your holy Mountain?
15:2He that walks uprightly and works righteousness, and speaks the truth in his heart.
15:3He that slanders not with his tongue, nor does evil to his neighbor, nor receives a false report against his neighbor.
15:4In whose eyes a vile person is contemned, but he honors them that fear YHWH:he that swears to his own hindrance and changes not.
15:5He that does not lend his money at interest, nor takes reward against the innocent:he that does these things, shall never be moved.
Chapter 16
16:1Michtam of David. Preserve me, O El:for in you do I trust.
16:2O my soul, you have said to YHWH, You are my Adonai:my well-doing extends not to you,
16:3But to the Saints that are in the earth, and to the excellent:all my delight is in them.
16:4The sorrows of them, that offer to another god, shall be multiplied:their offerings of blood will I not offer, neither make mention of their names with my lips.
16:5YHWH is the portion of my inheritance and of my cup:you shall maintain my lot.
16:6The lines are fallen to me in pleasant places:yes, I have a fair heritage.
16:7I will praise YHWH, who has given me counsel:my reins also teach me in the nights.
16:8I have set YHWH always before me:for he is at my right hand:therefore I shall not slide.
16:9Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices:my flesh also does rest in hope.
16:10For you will not leave my nephesh in Sheol:neither will you suffer your holy one to see corruption.
16:11You will show me the path of life:in your presence is the fullness of joy:and at your right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
Chapter 17
17:1The prayer of David. Hear the right, O YHWH, consider my cry:listen to my prayer from lips without deceit.
17:2Let my sentence come forth from your presence, and let your eyes behold equity.
17:3You have proved and visited my heart in the night:you have tried me,and found nothing:for I was purposed that my mouth should not offend.
17:4Concerning the works of men, by the words of your lips I kept me from the paths of the cruel man.
17:5Stay my steps in your paths, that my feet do not slide.
17:6I have called upon you:surely you will hear me, O El:incline your ear to me,and listen to my words.
17:7Show your marvelous chesed, you that are the Savior of them that trust in you, from such as resist your right hand.
17:8Keep me as the apple of the eye:hide me under the shadow of your wings,
17:9From the wicked that oppress me, from my enemies, which compass me round about for my nephesh.
17:10They are enclosed in their own fat,and they have spoken proudly with their mouth.
17:11They have compassed us now in our steps:they have set their eyes to bring down to the ground:
17:12Like as a lion that is greedy of prey, and as it were a young lion lurking in secret places.
17:13Up YHWH, disappoint him:cast him down:deliver my nephesh from the wicked with your sword,
17:14From men by Your hand, O YHWH, from men of the world, who have their portion in this life, whose bellies You fill with Your hid treasure:their children have enough, and leave the rest of their substance for their children.
17:15But I will behold your face in righteousness, and when I awake, I shall be satisfied with your image.
Chapter 18
18:1To him that excels. A Psalm of David the servant of YHWH, who spoke to YHWH the words of this song (in the day that YHWH delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul) and said,
18:2I will love You dearly, O YHWH my strength.
18:3YHWH is my rock, and my fortress, and he that delivers me, my El and my strength:in him will I trust, my shield, the horn also of my salvation, and my refuge.
18:4I will call upon YHWH, who is worthy to be praised:so shall I be safe from my enemies.
18:5The sorrows of death compassed me,and the floods of wickedness made me afraid.
18:6The sorrows of Sheol have compassed me about:the snares of death overtook me.
18:7But in my trouble did I call upon YHWH,and cried to my Elohim:he heard my voice out of his Temple, and my cry did come before him, even into his ears.
18:8Then the earth trembled, and quaked:the foundations also of the mountains moved and shook, because he was angry.
18:9Smoke went out at his nostrils, and a consuming fire out of his mouth:coals were kindled by it.
18:10He bowed the heavens also and came down, and darkness was under his feet.
18:11And he rode upon Cherub and did fly,and he came flying upon the wings of the wind.
18:12He made darkness his secret place, and his pavilion round about him, even darkness of waters, and clouds of the air.
18:13At the brightness of his presence his clouds passed, hailstones and coals of fire.
18:14YHWH also thundered in the heaven, and the Highest uttered his voice, hailstones and coals of fire.
18:15Then he sent out his arrows and scattered them, and he increased lightnings and destroyed them.
18:16And the channels of waters were seen, and the foundations of the world were discovered at Your rebuking, O YHWH, at the blasting of the breath of Your nostrils.
18:17He has sent down from above and taken me:he has drawn me out of many waters.
18:18He has delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them which hate me:for they were too strong for me.
18:19They prevented me in the day of my calamity:but YHWH was my stay.
18:20He brought me forth also into a large place:he delivered me because he favored me.
18:21YHWH rewarded me according to my righteousness:according to the pureness of my hands he recompensed me:
18:22Because I kept the ways of YHWH,and did not wickedly against my Elohim.
18:23For all his Laws were before me,and I did not cast away his commandments from me.
18:24I was upright also with him,and have kept me from my wickedness.
18:25Therefore YHWH rewarded me according to my righteousness, and according to the pureness of my hands in his sight.
18:26With the godly you will show yourself godly:with the upright man you will show yourself upright.
18:27With the pure you will show yourself pure, and with the perverse you will show yourself perverse.
18:28Thus you will save the poor people, and will cast down the proud looks.
18:29Surely you will light my candle:YHWH my Elohim will lighten my darkness.
18:30For by you I have broken through a host, and by my Elohim I have leaped over a wall.
18:31The way of El is uncorrupt:the word of YHWH is tried in the fire:he is a shield to all that trust in him.
18:32For who is Elohim besides YHWH? And who is mighty save our God?
18:33El girds me with strength, and makes my way upright.
18:34He makes my feet like deer’s feet, and sets me upon my high places.
18:35He teaches my hands to fight:so that a bow of brass is broken with my arms.
18:36You have also given me the shield of your salvation, and your right hand has stayed me,and your loving kindness has caused me to increase.
18:37You have enlarged my steps under me,and my heels have not slid.
18:38I have pursued my enemies, and taken them, and have not turned again till I had consumed them.
18:39I have wounded them, that they were not able to rise:they are fallen under my feet.
18:40For you have girded me with strength to battle:them, that rose against me, you have subdued under me.
18:41And you have given me the necks of my enemies, that I might destroy them that hate me.
18:42They cried but there was none to save them, even to YHWH,but he answered them not.
18:43Then I did beat them small as the dust before the wind:I did tread them flat as the clay in the streets.
18:44You have delivered me from the contentions of the people:you have made me the head of the heathen:a people, whom I have not known, shall serve me.
18:45As soon as they hear, they shall obey me:the strangers shall be in subjection to me.
18:46Strangers shall shrink away, and come trembling from their strongholds.
18:47Let YHWH live, and blessed be my strength, and the God of my salvation be exalted.
18:48It is El that gives me power to avenge me,and subdues the people under me.
18:49O my deliverer from my enemies, even you have set me up from them, that rose against me:you have delivered me from the cruel man.
18:50Therefore I will praise You, O YHWH, among the nations, and will sing to your Name.
18:51Great deliverance gives he to his King, and shows chesed to his anointed, even to David, and to his seed forever.
Chapter 19
19:1To him that excels. A Psalm of David.
19:2The heavens declare the glory of El, and the firmament shows the work of his hands.
19:3Day to day utters the same, and night to night teaches knowledge.
19:4There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.
19:5Their line is gone forth through all the earth, and their words into the ends of the world:in them has he set a tabernacle for the sun.
19:6Which comes forth as a bridegroom out of his chamber, and rejoices like a mighty man to run his race.
19:7His going out is from the end of the heaven, and his compass is to the ends of the same, and none is hid from the heat there.
19:8The Law of YHWH is perfect, converting the nephesh:the testimony of YHWH is sure, and gives wisdom to the simple.
19:9The statutes of YHWH are right and rejoice the heart:the commandment of YHWH is pure, and gives light to the eyes.
19:10The fear of YHWH is clean, and indurs forever:the judgments of YHWH are truth:they are righteous altogether,
19:11And more to be desired than gold, yes, then much fine gold:sweeter also then honey and the honey combe.
19:12Moreover by them is your servant made circumspect, and in keeping of them there is great reward.
19:13Who can understand his faults? Cleanse me from secret faults.
19:14Keep your servant also from presumptuous transgressions: let them not reign over me: so shall I be upright, and made clean from much transgression.
19:15Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O YHWH, my strength, and my redeemer.
Chapter 20
20:1To him that excels. A Psalm of David.
20:2YHWH hear you in the day of trouble: the name of the Elohim of Jacob defend you:
20:3Send you help from the Sanctuary, and strengthen you out of Zion.
20:4Let him remember all your offerings, and turn your burnt offerings into ashes. Selah:
20:5And grant you according to your heart, and fulfill all your purpose:
20:6That we may rejoice in your salvation, and set up the banner in the Name of our Elohim, when YHWH shall perform all your petitions.
20:7Now know I that YHWH will help his anointed, and will hear him from his Sanctuary, by the mighty help of his right hand.
20:8Some trust in chariots, and some in horses:but we will remember the Name of YHWH our Elohim.
20:9They are brought down and fallen, but we are risen, and stand upright.
20:10Save YHWH:let the King hear us in the day that we call.
Chapter 21
21:1To him that excels. A Psalm of David.
21:2The King shall rejoice in Your strength, O YHWH: yes how greatly shall he rejoice in your salvation!
21:3You have given him his hearts desire, and have not denied him the request of his lips. Selah.
21:4For you did meet him with liberal blessings, and did set a crown of pure gold upon his head.
21:5He asked life of you,and you gave him a long life forever and ever.
21:6His glory is great in your salvation:dignity and honor have you laid upon him.
21:7For you have set him as blessings forever:you have made him glad with the joy of your countenance.
21:8Because the King trusts in YHWH,and in the chesed of the most High, he shall not slide.
21:9Your hand shall find out all your enemies, and your right hand shall find out them that hate you.
21:10You shall make them like a fiery oven in time of your anger:YHWH shall destroy them in his wrath, and the fire shall devour them.
21:11Their fruit shall you destroy from the earth, and their seed from the children of men.
21:12For they intended evil against you,and imagined mischief, but they shall not prevail.
21:13Therefore shall you put them apart, and the strings of your bow shall you make ready against their faces.
21:14Be You exalted, O YHWH, in Your strength:so will we sing and praise your power.
Chapter 22
22:1To him that excels upon Aiieleth Hasshahar. A Psalm of David.
22:2My God, my God, why have you forsaken me, and are so far from my health, and from the words of my roaring?
22:3O my Elohim, I cry by day,but you hear not,and by night, but have no audience.
22:4But you are holy, and do inhabit the praises of Israel.
22:5Our fathers trusted in you:they trusted, and you did deliver them.
22:6They called upon you,and were delivered:they trusted in you,and were not confounded.
22:7But I am a worm,and not a man:a shame of men,and the contempt of the people.
22:8All they that see me, have me in derision: they shoot out the lip and nod the head, saying,
22:9He trusted in YHWH, let him deliver him:let him save him, seeing he loves him.
22:10But you did draw me out of the womb:you gave me hope, even at my mother's breasts.
22:11I was cast upon you, even from the womb:you are my El from my mother's belly.
22:12Be not far from me, because trouble is near:for there is none to help me.
22:13Many young bulls have compassed me:mighty bulls of Bashan have closed me about.
22:14They gape upon me with their mouths, as a ramping and roaring lion.
22:15I am like water poured out,and all my bones are out of joint:my heart is like wax:it is molten in the midst of my bowels.
22:16My strength is dried up like a potsherd, and my tongue cleaves to my jaws, and you have brought me into the dust of death.
22:17For dogs have compassed me,and the assembly of the wicked have enclosed me:they pierced my hands and my feet.
22:18I may tell all my bones:yet they behold, and look upon me.
22:19They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.
22:20But be You not far off, O YHWH, my strength:hasten to help me.
22:21Deliver my nephesh from the sword:my desolate nephesh from the power of the dog.
22:22Save me from the lions mouth, and answer me in saving me from the horns of the wild oxen.
22:23I will declare your Name to my brethren:in the midst of the Congregation will I praise you, saying,
22:24Praise YHWH, you that fear him:magnify you him, all the seed of Jacob, and fear you him, all the seed of Israel.
22:25For he has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the poor:neither has he hid his face from him,but when he called to him, he heard.
22:26My praise shall be of you in the great Congregation:my vows will I perform before them that fear him.
22:27The poor shall eat and be satisfied:they that seek after YHWH, shall praise him:your heart shall live forever.
22:28All the ends of the world shall remember themselves, and turn to YHWH:and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before you.
22:29For the kingdom is YHWH's,and he rules among the nations.
22:30All they that be fat in the earth, shall eat and worship:all they that go down into the dust, shall bow before him, even he that cannot quicken his own nephesh.
22:31Their seed shall serve him:it shall be counted to Adonai for a generation.
22:32They shall come, and shall declare his righteousness to a people that shall be born, because he has done it.
Chapter 23
23:1A Psalm of David. YHWH is my shepherd, I shall not want.
23:2He makes me to rest in green pasture, and leads me by the still waters.
23:3He restores my nephesh, and leads me in the paths of righteousness for his Name's sake.
23:4Yes, though I should walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil:for you are with me:your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
23:5You do prepare a table before me in the sight of my adversaries:you do anoint my head with oil,and my cup runs over.
23:6Doubtless goodness and chesed shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall remain a long season in the house of YHWH.
Chapter 24
24:1A Psalm of David. The earth is YHWH's, and all that is in it: the world and they that dwell in it.
24:2For he has founded it upon the seas:and established it upon the floods.
24:3Who shall ascend into the mountain of YHWH? And who shall stand in his holy place?
24:4Even he that has innocent hands, and a pure heart:which has not lift up his nephesh to vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.
24:5He shall receive a blessing from YHWH,and righteousness from the Elohim of his salvation.
24:6This is the generation of them that seek him, of them that seek your face, this is Jacob. Selah.
24:7Lift up your heads, you gates, and be lifted up, you everlasting doors, and the King of glory shall come in.
24:8Who is this King of glory? YHWH, strong and mighty, even YHWH mighty in battle.
24:9Lift up your heads, the gates, and lift up yourselves, you everlasting doors, and the King of glory shall come in.
24:10Who is this King of glory? YHWH of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah.
Chapter 25
25:1A Psalm of David. To You, O YHWH, lift I up my nephesh.
25:2My Elohim, I trust in you:let me not be confounded:let not my enemies rejoice over me.
25:3So all that hope in you, shall not be ashamed:but let them be confounded, that transgress without cause.
25:4Show me Your ways, O YHWH,and teach me your paths.
25:5Lead me forth in your truth, and teach me:for you are the Elohim of my salvation:in you do I trust all the day.
25:6Remember, O YHWH, Your tender mercies, and your chesed:for they have been forever.
25:7Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my rebellions, but according to Your chesed remember You me, even for Your goodness sake, O YHWH.
25:8Gracious and righteous is YHWH:therefore will he teach sinners in the way.
25:9Them that be meek, will he guide in judgment, and teach the humble his way.
25:10All the paths of YHWH are chesed and truth to such as keep his covenant and his testimonies.
25:11For Your Name's sake, O YHWH, be merciful to my iniquity, for it is great.
25:12What man is he that fears YHWH? Him will he teach the way that he shall choose.
25:13His nephesh shall dwell at ease, and his seed shall inherit the land.
25:14The secret of YHWH is revealed to them, that fear him:and his covenant to give them understanding.
25:15My eyes are ever toward YHWH:for he will bring my feet out of the net.
25:16Turn your face to me,and be gracious to me:for I am desolate and poor.
25:17The sorrows of my heart are enlarged:draw me out of my troubles.
25:18Look upon my affliction and my travel, and forgive all my sins.
25:19Behold my enemies, for they are many, and they hate me with cruel hatred.
25:20Keep my nephesh, and deliver me:let me not be confounded, for I trust in you.
25:21Let my uprightness and equity preserve me:for my hope is in you.
25:22Deliver Israel, O Elohim, out of all his troubles.
Chapter 26
26:1A Psalm of David. Judge me, O YHWH,for I have walked in my innocency:my trust has been also in YHWH:therefore shall I not slide.
26:2Prove me, O YHWH,and try me:examine my reins,and my heart.
26:3For your chesed is before my eyes:therefore have I walked in your truth.
26:4I have not hanted with vain persons, neither kept company with the dissemblers.
26:5I have hated the assembly of the evil, and have not companied with the wicked.
26:6I will wash my hands in innocence, O YHWH,and compass your altar,
26:7That I may declare with the voice of thanksgiving, and set forth all your wondrous works.
26:8O YHWH, I have loved the habitation of Your house, and the place where your honor dwells.
26:9Gather not my nephesh with the sinners, nor my life with the bloody men:
26:10In whose hands is wickedness, and their right hand is full of bribes.
26:11But I will walk in my innocency:redeem me therefore, and be gracious to me.
26:12My foot stands in uprightness:I will praise You, O YHWH, in the Congregations.
Chapter 27
27:1A Psalm of David. YHWH is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? YHWH is the strength of my life, of whom shall I be afraid?
27:2When the wicked, even my enemies and my foes came upon me to eat up my flesh;they stumbled and fell.
27:3Though a host pitched against me, my heart should not be afraid:though war be raised against me, I will trust in this.
27:4One thing have I asked of YHWH,that I will seek, even that I may dwell in the house of YHWH all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of YHWH,and to visit his Temple.
27:5For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his Tabernacle:in the secret place of his pavilion shall he hide me,and set me up upon a rock.
27:6And now shall he lifted up my head above my enemies round about me:therefore will I offer in his Tabernacle sacrifices of joy:I will sing and praise YHWH.
27:7Listen to my voice, O YHWH, when I cry:have mercy also upon me and hear me.
27:8When You said, Seek You my face, my heart answered to You, O YHWH, I will seek Your face.
27:9Hide not therefore your face from me, nor cast your servant away in displeasure:you have been my succor:leave me not, neither forsake me, O Elohim of my salvation.
27:10Though my father and my mother should forsake me, yet YHWH will gather me up.
27:11Teach me Your way, O YHWH,and lead me in a right path, because of my enemies.
27:12Give me not to the nephesh of my adversaries:for there are false witnesses risen up against me,and such as speak cruelly.
27:13I should have fainted, except I had believed to see the goodness of YHWH in the land of the living.
27:14Hope in YHWH:be strong, and he shall comfort your heart, and trust in YHWH.
Chapter 28
28:1A Psalm of David. To You, O YHWH, do I cry:O my strength, be not deaf toward me,lest, if you answer me not, I be like them that go down into the pit.
28:2Hear the voice of my petitions, when I cry to you, when I hold up my hands toward your holy Oracle.
28:3Draw me not away with the wicked, and with the workers of iniquity:which speak friendly to their neighbors, when malice is in their hearts.
28:4Reward them according to their deeds, and according to the wickedness of their inventions:recompense them after the work of their hands:render them their reward.
28:5For they regard not the works of YHWH, nor the operation of his hands:therefore break them down, and build them not up.
28:6Praised be YHWH,for he has heard the voice of my petitions.
28:7YHWH is my strength and my shield:my heart trusted in him,and I was helped:therefore my heart shall rejoice, and with my song will I praise him.
28:8YHWH is their strength, and he is the strength of the deliverances of his anointed.
28:9Save your people, and bless your inheritance:feed them also, and exalt them forever.
Chapter 29
29:1A Psalm of David. Give to YHWH, the sons of the mighty:give to YHWH glory and strength.
29:2Give to YHWH glory due to his Name:worship YHWH in the glorious Sanctuary.
29:3The voice of YHWH is upon the waters:the El of glory makes it to thunder:YHWH is upon the great waters.
29:4The voice of YHWH is mighty:the voice of YHWH is glorious.
29:5The voice of YHWH breaks the cedars:yes, YHWH breaks the cedars of Lebanon.
29:6He makes them also to leap like a calf:Lebanon also and Sirion like a young wild ox.
29:7The voice of YHWH divides the flames of sire.
29:8The voice of YHWH makes the wilderness to tremble:YHWH makes the wilderness of Kadesh to tremble.
29:9The voice of YHWH makes the does to calve, and discovers the forests:therefore in his Temple does every man speak of his glory.
29:10YHWH sits upon the flood, and YHWH does remain King forever.
29:11YHWH shall give strength to his people:YHWH shall bless his people with peace.
Chapter 30
30:1A Psalm or song of the dedication of the house of David.
30:2I will magnify You, O YHWH: for you have exalted me, and have not made my foe to rejoice over me.
30:3O YHWH my Elohim, I cried to You,and you have restored me.
30:4O YHWH, You have brought up my nephesh out of Sheol:you have revived me from them that go down into the pit.
30:5Sing praises to YHWH, you his Saints, and give thanks before the remembrance of his Holiness.
30:6For he endures but a while in his anger:but in his favor is life:weeping may abide at evening, but joy comes in the morning.
30:7And in my prosperity I said, I shall never be moved.
30:8For YHWH of your goodness had made my mountain to stand strong:but you did hide your face, and I was troubled.
30:9Then cried I to You, O YHWH,and prayed to my Adonai.
30:10What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust give thanks to you? Or shall it declare your truth?
30:11Hear, O YHWH,and be gracious to me:YHWH, be you my helper.
30:12You have turned my mourning into joy:you have loosed my sack and girded me with gladness.
30:13Therefore shall my tongue praise you and not cease:O YHWH my Elohim, I will give thanks to You forever.
Chapter 31
31:1To him that excels. A Psalm of David.
31:2In You, O YHWH, have I put my trust: let me never be confounded: deliver me in your righteousness.
31:3Bow down your ear to me:make haste to deliver me:be to me a strong rock, and a house of defense to save me.
31:4For you are my rock and my fortress: therefore for your Name's sake direct me and guide me.
31:5Draw me out of the net, that they have laid secretly for me:for you are my strength.
31:6Into your hand I commend my spirit:for You have redeemed me, O YHWH El of truth.
31:7I have hated them that give themselves to deceitful vanities:for I trust in YHWH.
31:8I will be glad and rejoice in your chesed:for you have seen my trouble:you have known my nephesh in adversities,
31:9And you have not shut me up in the hand of the enemy, but have set my feet at large.
31:10Be gracious to me, O YHWH:for I am in trouble:my eye, my nephesh and my belly are consumed with grief.
31:11For my life is wasted with heaviness, and my years with mourning:my strength fails for my pain, and my bones are consumed.
31:12I was a reproach among all my enemies, but specially among my neighbors:and a fear to my acquaintance, who seeing me in the street, fled from me.
31:13I am forgotten, as a dead man out of mind:I am like a broken vessel.
31:14For I have heard the railing of great men:fear was on every side, while they conspired together against me,and consulted to take my nephesh.
31:15But I trusted in You, O YHWH:I said, You are my Elohim.
31:16My times are in your hand:deliver me from the hand of my enemies, and from them that persecute me.
31:17Make your face to shine upon your servant, and save me through your chesed.
31:18Let me not be confounded, O YHWH:for I have called upon you:let the wicked be put to confusion, and to silence in Sheol.
31:19Let the lying lips be made dumb, which cruelly, proudly and spitefully speak against the righteous.
31:20How great is your goodness, which you have laid up for them, that fear you! And done to them, that trust in you, even before the sons of men!
31:21You do hide them secretly in your presence from the pride of men:you keep them secretly in your Tabernacle from the strife of tongues.
31:22Blessed be YHWH:for he has showed his marvelous chesed toward me in a strong city.
31:23Though I said in my haste, I am cast out of your sight, yet you heard the voice of my supplication, when I cried to you.
31:24Love YHWH all his Saints:for YHWH preserves the faithful, and rewards abundantly the proud doer.
31:25All you that trust in YHWH, be strong, and he shall establish your heart.
Chapter 32
32:1A Psalm of David to give instruction. Blessed is he whose wickedness is forgiven, and whose sin is covered.
32:2Blessed is the man, to whom YHWH impute not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.
32:3When I held my tongue, my bones consumed, or when I roared all the day,
32:4(For your hand is heavy upon me, day and night:and my moisture is turned into the drought of summer. Selah)
32:5Then I acknowledged my sin to you, neither hid I my iniquity: for I thought, I will confess against myself my transgression to YHWH, and you forgave the punishment of my sin. Selah.
32:6Therefore shall every one, that is godly, make his prayer to you in a time, when you may be found:surely in the flood of great waters they shall not come near him.
32:7You are my secret place:you preserve me from trouble:you compass me about with joyful deliverance. Selah.
32:8I will instruct you,and teach you in the way that you shall go,and I will guide you with my eye.
32:9Be you not like a horse, or like a mule, which understand not:whose mouths you do bind with bit and bridle, lest they come near you.
32:10Many sorrows shall come to the wicked:but he,that trusts in YHWH, chesed shall compass him.
32:11Be glad the righteous, and rejoice in YHWH,and be joyful all you, that are upright in heart.
Chapter 33
33:1Rejoice in YHWH, O the righteous:for it becomes upright men to be thankful.
33:2Praise YHWH with harp:sing to him with lyre and instrument of ten strings.
33:3Sing to him a new song:sing cheerfully with a loud voice.
33:4For the word of YHWH is righteous, and all his works are faithful.
33:5He loves righteousness and judgment:the earth is full of the chesed of YHWH.
33:6By the word of YHWH were the heavens made, and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.
33:7He gathers the waters of the sea together as upon a heap, and lays up the depths in his treasures.
33:8Let all the earth fear YHWH:let all them that dwell in the world, fear him.
33:9For he spoke,and it was done:he commanded,and it stood.
33:10YHWH breaks the counsel of the heathen, and frustrates the devices of the people.
33:11The counsel of YHWH shall stand forever, and the thoughts of his heart throughout all ages.
33:12Blessed is that nation, whose Elohim is YHWH:even the people that he has chosen for his inheritance.
33:13YHWH looks down from heaven, and beholds all the children of men.
33:14From the habitation of his dwelling he beholds all them that dwell in the earth.
33:15He fashions their hearts every one,and understands all their works.
33:16The King is not saved by the multitude of a host, neither is the mighty man delivered by great strength.
33:17A horse is a vain help, and shall not deliver any by his great strength.
33:18Behold, the eye of YHWH is upon them that fear him,and upon them, that trust in his chesed,
33:19To deliver their nepheshes from death, and to preserve them in famine.
33:20Our nephesh waits for YHWH:for he is our help and our shield.
33:21Surely our heart shall rejoice in him, because we trusted in his holy Name.
33:22Let Your chesed, O YHWH, be upon us, as we trust in You.
Chapter 34
34:1A Psalm of David, when he changed his behavior before Abimelech, who drove him away, and he departed.
34:2I will always give thanks to YHWH: his praise shall be in my mouth continually.
34:3My nephesh shall glory in YHWH:the humble shall hear it,and be glad.
34:4Praise YHWH with me,and let us magnify his Name together.
34:5I sought YHWH,and he heard me:yes, he delivered me out of all my fear.
34:6They shall look to him,and run to him:and their faces shall not be ashamed, saying,
34:7This poor man cried, and YHWH heard him,and saved him out of all his troubles.
34:8The Angel of YHWH pitches round about them, that fear him,and delivers them.
34:9Taste you and see, how gracious YHWH is:blessed is the man that trusts in him.
34:10Fear YHWH, you his Saints:for nothing wants to them that fear him.
34:11The lions do lack and suffer hunger, but they who seek YHWH, shall want nothing that is good.
34:12Come children, listen to me:I will teach you the fear of YHWH.
34:13What man is he,that desires life, and loves long days for to see good?
34:14Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips, that they speak no guile.
34:15Turn away from evil and do good:seek peace and follow after it.
34:16The eyes of YHWH are upon the righteous, and his ears are open to their cry.
34:17But the face of YHWH is against them that do evil, to cut off their remembrance from the earth.
34:18The righteous cry,and YHWH hears them, and delivers them out of all their troubles.
34:19YHWH is near to them that are of a contrite heart, and will save such as be afflicted in spirit.
34:20Great are the troubles of the righteous:but YHWH delivers him out of them all.
34:21He keeps all his bones:not one of them is broken.
34:22But malice shall slay the wicked:and they that hate the righteous, shall perish.
34:23YHWH redeems the nepheshes of his servants:and none, that trust in him, shall perish.
Chapter 35
35:1A Psalm of David. Plead You my cause, O YHWH, with them that strive with me:fight you against them, that fight against me.
35:2Lay hand upon the shield and buckler, and stand up for my help.
35:3Bring out also the spear and stop the way against them, that persecute me:say to my nephesh, I am your salvation.
35:4Let them be confounded and put to shame, that seek after my nephesh:let them be turned back, and brought to confusion, that imagine my hurt.
35:5Let them be as chaff before the wind, and let the Angel of YHWH scatter them.
35:6Let their way be dark and slippery:and let the Angel of YHWH persecute them.
35:7For without cause they have hid the pit and their net for me:without cause have they digged a pit for my nephesh.
35:8Let destruction come upon him at unawares, and let his net, that he has laid secretly, take him:let him fall into the same destruction.
35:9Then my nephesh shall be joyful in YHWH:it shall rejoice in his salvation.
35:10All my bones shall say, YHWH, who is like to you, which deliver the poor from him, that is too strong for him! Yes, the poor and him that is in misery, from him that spoils him!
35:11Cruel witnesses did rise up:they asked of me things that I knew not.
35:12They rewarded me evil for good, to have spoiled my nephesh.
35:13Yet I, when they were sick, I was clothed with a sack:I humbled my nephesh with fasting:and my prayer was turned upon my bosom.
35:14I behaved myself as to my friend, or as to my brother:I humbled myself, mourning as one that bewails his mother.
35:15But in my adversity they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together:the abjects assembled themselves against me,and knew not:they tare me and ceased not,
35:16With the profane scoffers at banquets, gnashing their teeth against me.
35:17Adonai, how long will you behold this? Deliver my nephesh from their tumult, even my desolate nephesh from the lions.
35:18So will I give you thanks in a great Congregation:I will praise you among much people.
35:19Let not them that are my enemies, unjustly rejoice over me,neither let them wink with the eye, that hate me without a cause.
35:20For they speak not as friends:but they imagine deceitful words against the quiet of the land.
35:21And they gaped on me with their mouths, saying, Aha, aha, our eye has seen.
35:22You have seen it, O YHWH:keep not silence:be not far from me, O Adonai.
35:23Arise and wake to my judgment, even to my cause, my Elohim, and my Adonai.
35:24Judge me, O YHWH my Elohim, according to Your righteousness, and let them not rejoice over me.
35:25Let them not say in their hearts, O our nephesh rejoice:neither let them say, We have devoured him.
35:26Let them be confounded, and put to shame together, that rejoice at my hurt:let them be clothed with confusion and shame, that lift up themselves against me.
35:27But let them be joyful and glad, that love my righteousness:yes, let them say always, Let YHWH be magnified, which loves the prosperity of his servant.
35:28And my tongue shall utter your righteousness, and your praise every day.
Chapter 36
36:1To him that excels. A Psalm of David, the servant of YHWH.
36:2Transgression says to the wicked man, even in my heart, that there is no fear of Elohim before his eyes.
36:3For he flatters himself in his own eyes, while his iniquity is foud worthy to be hated.
36:4The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit:he has left off to understand and to do good.
36:5He imagines mischief upon his bed:he sets himself upon a way, that is not good, and does not abhor evil.
36:6Your chesed, O YHWH, reaches to the heavens, and your faithfulness to the clouds.
36:7Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains:your judgments are like a great deep:you, YHWH, do save man and beast.
36:8How excellent is your chesed, O Elohim! Therefore the children of men trust under the shadow of your wings.
36:9They shall be satisfied with the fatness of your house, and you shall give them drink out of the river of your pleasures.
36:10For with you is the well of life, and in your light shall we see light.
36:11Extend your chesed to them that know you,and your righteousness to them that are upright in heart.
36:12Let not the foot of pride come against me,and let not the hand of the wicked men move me.
36:13There they are fallen that work iniquity:they are cast down, and shall not be able to rise.
Chapter 37
37:1A Psalm of David. Fret not yourself because of the wicked men, neither be envious for the evildoers.
37:2For they shall soon be cut down like grass, and shall wither as the green herb.
37:3Trust you in YHWH and do good:dwell in the land, and you shall be fed assuredly.
37:4And delight yourself in YHWH,and he shall give you your hearts desire.
37:5Commit your way to YHWH,and trust in him,and he shall bring it to pass.
37:6And he shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your judgment as the noon day.
37:7Wait patiently upon YHWH and hope in him:fret not yourself for him which prospers in his way:nor for the man that brings his enterprises to pass.
37:8Cease from anger, and leave off wrath:fret not yourself also to do evil.
37:9For evildoers shall be cut off,and they that wait upon YHWH, they shall inherit the land.
37:10Therefore yet a little while, and the wicked shall not appear, and you shall look after his place, and he shall not be found.
37:11But meek men shall possess the earth, and shall have their delight in the multitude of peace.
37:12The wicked practices against the just, and gnashes his teeth against him.
37:13But Adonai shall laugh him to scorn:for he sees, that his day is coming.
37:14The wicked have drawn their sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, and to slay such as be of upright conduct.
37:15But their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken.
37:16A small thing to the just man is better, than great riches to the wicked and mighty.
37:17For the arms of the wicked shall be broken:but YHWH upholds the just men.
37:18YHWH knows the days of upright men,and their inheritance shall be perpetual.
37:19They shall not be confounded in the perilous time, and in the days of famine they shall have enough.
37:20But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of YHWH shall be consumed as the fat of lambs:even with the smoke shall they consume away.
37:21The wicked borrows and pays not again. But the righteous is gracious, and gives.
37:22For such as be blessed of God, shall inherit the land, and they that be cursed of him, shall be cut off.
37:23The paths of man are directed by YHWH:for he loves his way.
37:24Though he fall, he shall not be cast off:for YHWH puts under his hand.
37:25I have been young, and am old:yet I saw never the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.
37:26But he is ever gracious and lends, and his seed enjoys the blessing.
37:27Flee from evil and do good, and dwell forever.
37:28For YHWH loves judgment, and forsake not his Saints:they shall be preserved for evermore:but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off.
37:29The righteous men shall inherit the land, and dwell in it forever.
37:30The mouth of the righteous will speak of wisdom, and his tongue will talk of judgment.
37:31For the Law of his Elohim is in his heart, and his steps shall not slide.
37:32The wicked watches the righteous, and seeks to slay him.
37:33But YHWH will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him, when he is judged.
37:34Wait you on YHWH,and keep his way,and he shall exalt you, that you shall inherit the land:when the wicked men shall perish, you shall see.
37:35I have seen the wicked strong, and spreading himself like a green bay tree.
37:36Yet he passed away, and lo, he was gone, and I sought him,but he could not be found.
37:37Mark the upright man,and behold the just:for the end of that man is peace.
37:38But the transgressors shall be destroyed together, and the end of the wicked shall be cut off.
37:39But the salvation of the righteous men shall be of YHWH:he shall be their strength in the time of trouble.
37:40For YHWH shall help them, and deliver them:he shall deliver them from the wicked, and shall save them, because they trust in him.
Chapter 38
38:1A Psalm of David for remembrance.
38:2O YHWH, rebuke me not in Your anger, neither chastise me in your wrath.
38:3For your arrows have light upon me,and your hand lies upon me.
38:4There is nothing sound in my flesh, because of your anger:neither is there rest in my bones because of my sin.
38:5For my iniquities are gone over my head, and as a weighty burden they are too heavy for me.
38:6My wounds are putrefied, and corrupt because of my foolishness.
38:7I am bowed, and crooked very sore:I go mourning all the day.
38:8For my reins are full of burning, and there is nothing sound in my flesh.
38:9I am weakened and sore broken:I roar for the very grief of my heart.
38:10Adonai, I pour my whole desire before you,and my sighing is not hid from you.
38:11My heart pants:my strength fails me,and the light of my eyes, even they are not my own.
38:12My lovers and my friends stand aside from my plague, and my kinsmen stand a far off.
38:13They also, that seek after my nephesh, lay snares, and they that seek to do me evil, talk wicked things and imagine deceit continually.
38:14But I as a deaf man heard not,and am as a dumb man, who opens not his mouth.
38:15Thus am I as a man, that hears not,and in whose mouth are no reproofs.
38:16For on You, O YHWH, do I wait:you will hear me, my Adonai, my Elohim.
38:17For I said, Hear me,lest they rejoice over me:for when my foot slips, they extol themselves against me.
38:18Surely I am ready to halt, and my sorrow is ever before me.
38:19When I declare my pain, and am sorry for my sin,
38:20Then my enemies are alive and are mighty, and they that hate me wrongfully are many.
38:21They also, that reward evil for good, are my adversaries, because I follow goodness.
38:22Forsake me not, O YHWH:be not you far from me, my Elohim.
38:23Haste you to help me, O my Adonai, my salvation.
Chapter 39
39:1To the excellent musician Jeduthun. A Psalm of David.
39:2I thought, I will take heed to my ways, that I do not sin with my tongue: I will keep my mouth bridled, while the wicked is in my sight.
39:3I was dumb and spoke nothing:I kept silence even from good, and my sorrow was more stirred.
39:4My heart was hot within me,and while I was musing, the fire kindled, and I spoke with my tongue, saying,
39:5YHWH, let me know my end,and the measure of my days, what it is:let me know how long I have to live.
39:6Behold, you have made my days as a hand breadth, and my age as nothing in respect of you:surely every man in his best state is altogether vanity. Selah.
39:7Doubtless man walks in a shadow, and disquiets himself in vain:he heaps up riches, and does not know who shall gather them.
39:8And now Adonai, what wait I for? My hope is even in you.
39:9Deliver me from all my transgressions, and make me not a rebuke to the foolish.
39:10I should have been dumb, and not have opened my mouth, because you did it.
39:11Take your plague away from me:for I am consumed by the stroke of your hand.
39:12When you with rebukes do chastise man for iniquity, you as a moth make his beauty to consume:surely every man is vanity. Selah.
39:13Hear my prayer, O YHWH,and listen to my cry:keep not silence at my tears, for I am a stranger with you,and a sojourner as all my fathers.
39:14Stay your anger from me,that I may recover my strength, before I go from here and be not.
Chapter 40
40:1To him that excels. A Psalm of David.
40:2I Waited patiently for YHWH, and he inclined to me, and heard my cry.
40:3He brought me also out of the horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon the rock, and ordered my goings.
40:4And he has put in my mouth a new song of praise to our Elohim:many shall see it and fear, and shall trust in YHWH.
40:5Blessed is the man that makes YHWH his trust, and regards not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.
40:6O YHWH my Elohim, You have made Your wonderful works so many, that none can count in order to you your thoughts toward us:I would declare, and speak of them, but they are more than I am able to express.
40:7Sacrifice and offering you did not desire:(for my ears have you prepared) burnt offering and sin offering have you not required.
40:8Then said I, Lo, I come:for in the roll of the book it is written of me,
40:9I desired to do your good will, O my Elohim:yes, your Law is within my heart.
40:10I have declared your righteousness in the great Congregation:lo, I will not refrain my lips:O YHWH, You know.
40:11I have not hid your righteousness within my heart, but I have declared your truth and your salvation:I have not concealed your chesed and your truth from the great Congregation.
40:12Withhold not You Your compassions from me, O YHWH:let Your chesed and Your truth always preserve me.
40:13For innumerable troubles have compassed me:my sins have taken such hold upon me,that I am not able to look up:yes, they are more in number than the hairs of my head:therefore my heart has failed me.
40:14Let it please You, O YHWH, to deliver me:make haste, O YHWH, to help me.
40:15Let them be confounded and put to shame together, that seek my nephesh to destroy it:let them be driven backward and put to rebuke, that desire my hurt.
40:16Let them be destroyed for a reward of their shame, which say to me, Aha, aha.
40:17Let all them, that seek you, rejoice and be glad in you:and let them, that love your salvation, say always, YHWH be praised.
40:18Though I be poor and needy, Adonai thinks on me:you are my helper and my deliverer:my Elohim, make no staying.
Chapter 41
41:1To him that excels. A Psalm of David.
41:2Blessed is he that judges wisely of the poor: YHWH shall deliver him in the time of trouble.
41:3YHWH will keep him,and preserve him alive:he shall be blessed upon the earth, and you will not deliver him to the nephesh of his enemies.
41:4YHWH will strengthen him upon the bed of sorrow:you have turned all his bed in his sickness.
41:5Therefore I said, YHWH be gracious to me:heal my nephesh, for I have sinned against you.
41:6My enemies speak evil of me, saying, When shall he die,and his name perish?
41:7And if he come to see me, he speaks lies, but his heart heaps iniquity within him,and when he comes forth, he tells it.
41:8All they that hate me, whisper together against me:even against me do they imagine my hurt.
41:9A mischief is light upon him,and he that lies, shall no more rise.
41:10Yes, my familiar friend, whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, has lifted up the heel against me.
41:11Therefore, O YHWH, be gracious to me,and raise me up:so I shall reward them.
41:12By this I know that you favor me, because my enemy does not triumph against me.
41:13And as for me, you uphold me in my integrity, and do set me before your face forever.
41:14Blessed be YHWH Elohim of Israel world without end. So be it, even so be it.
Chapter 42
42:1To him that excels. A Psalm to give instruction, committed to the sons of Korah.
42:2As the deer pants for the streams of water, so pants my nephesh after you, O Elohim.
42:3My nephesh thirsts for Elohim, even for the living Elohim:when shall I come and appear before the presence of God?
42:4My tears have been my food day and night, while they daily say to me, Where is your Elohim?
42:5When I remembered these things, I poured out my very nephesh, because I had gone with the multitude, and led them into the House of Elohim with the voice of singing, and praise, as a multitude that keeps a feast.
42:6Why are you cast down, my nephesh, and unquiet within me? Wait on Elohim:for I will yet give him thanks for the help of his presence.
42:7My Elohim, my nephesh is cast down within me, because I remember you, from the land of Jordan, and Hermon, and from the mount Mizar.
42:8One deep calls another deep by the noise of your water spouts:all your waves and your floods are gone over me.
42:9YHWH will command his chesed in the day, and in the night shall I sing of him, even a prayer to the El of my life.
42:10I will say to El, who is my rock, Why have you forgotten me? Why go I mourning, when the enemy oppresses me?
42:11My bones are cut asunder, while my enemies reproach me, saying daily to me, Where is your Elohim?
42:12Why are you cast down, my nephesh? And why are you disquieted within me? Wait on Elohim:for I will yet give him thanks:he is my present help, and my Elohim.
Chapter 43
43:1Judge me, O Elohim, and defend my cause against the unmerciful people:deliver me from the deceitful and wicked man.
43:2For you are the Elohim of my strength:why have you put me away? Why go I so mourning, when the enemy oppresses me?
43:3Send your light and your truth:let them lead me:let them bring me to your holy Mountain and to your Tabernacles.
43:4Then will I go to the altar of Elohim, even to the Elohim of my joy and gladness:and upon the harp will I give thanks to you, O Elohim, my God.
43:5Why are you cast down, my nephesh? And why are you disquieted within me? Wait on Elohim:for I will yet give him thanks, he is my present help, and my Elohim.
Chapter 44
44:1To him that excels. A Psalm to give instruction, committed to the sons of Korah.
44:2We have heard with our ears, O Elohim: our fathers have told us the works, that you have done in their days, in the old time:
44:3How you have driven out the heathen with your hand, and planted them:how you have destroyed the people, and caused them to grow.
44:4For they inherited not the land by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them:but your right hand, and your arm and the light of your countenance, because you did favor them.
44:5You are my King, O Elohim: command deliverance for Jacob.
44:6Through you have we thrust back our adversaries:by your Name have we trampled down those that rose up against us.
44:7For I do not trust in my bow, neither can my sword save me.
44:8But you have saved us from our adversaries, and have put them to confusion that hate us.
44:9Therefore will we praise Elohim continually, and will confess your Name forever. Selah.
44:10But now you are far off,and put us to confusion, and do not go forth with our armies.
44:11You make us to turn back from the adversary, and they who hate us, spoil for themselves.
44:12You give us as sheep to be eaten, and do scatter us among the nations.
44:13You sell your people without gain, and do not increase their price.
44:14You make us a reproach to our neighbors, a jest and a laughing stock to them that are round about us.
44:15You make us a proverb among the nations, and a nodding of the head among the people.
44:16My confusion is daily before me,and the shame of my face has covered me,
44:17For the voice of the slanderer and rebuker, for the enemy and avenger.
44:18All this is come upon us, yet do we not forget you, neither deal we falsely concerning your covenant.
44:19Our heart is not turned back:neither our steps gone out of your paths,
44:20Although you have smitten us down into the place of dragons, and covered us with the shadow of death.
44:21If we have forgotten the Name of our Elohim, and held up our hands to a strange god,
44:22Shall not Elohim search this out? For he knows the secrets of the heart.
44:23Surely for your sake are we slain continually, and are counted as sheep for the slaughter.
44:24Up, why sleep you, O Adonai? Awake, be not far off forever.
44:25Why hide you your face? And forget our misery and our affliction?
44:26For our nephesh is beaten down to the dust:our belly cleaves to the ground.
44:27Rise up for our succor, and redeem us for your chesed sake.
Chapter 45
45:1To him that excels on Shoshannim a song of love to give instruction, committed to the sons of Korah.
45:2My heart will utter forth a good matter: I will intreat in my works of the King: my tongue is as the pen of a swift writer.
45:3You are fairer then the children of men:grace is poured in your lips, because Elohim has blessed you forever.
45:4Gird your sword upon your thigh, O most mighty, namely, your worship and your glory,
45:5And prosper with your glory:ride upon the word of truth and of meekness and of righteousness:so your right hand shall teach you terrible things.
45:6Your arrows are sharp to pierce the heart of the Kings enemies:therefore the people shall fall under you.
45:7Your throne, O Elohim, is forever and ever:the scepter of your kingdom is a scepter of righteousness.
45:8You love righteousness, and hate wickedness, because Elohim, even your Elohim has anointed you with the oil of gladness above your fellows.
45:9All your garments smell of myrrh and aloes, and cassia, when you come out of the ivory palaces, where they have made you glad.
45:10Kings daughters were among your honorable wives:upon your right hand did stand the Queen in a vesture of gold of Ophir.
45:11Listen, O daughter, and consider, and incline your ear:forget also your own people and your fathers house.
45:12So shall the King have pleasure in your beauty:for he is your Lord, and reverence you him.
45:13And the daughter of Tyrus with the rich of the people shall do homage before your face with presents.
45:14The Kings daughter is all glorious within:her clothing is of embroidered gold.
45:15She shall be brought to the King in clothing of needle work:the virgins that follow after her,and her companions shall be brought to you.
45:16With joy and gladness shall they be brought, and shall enter into the Kings palace.
45:17In place of your fathers shall your children be:you shall make them princes through all the earth.
45:18I will make your Name to be remembered through all generations:therefore shall the people give thanks to the world without end.
Chapter 46
46:1To him that excels upon Alamoth a song committed to the sons of Korah.
46:2Elohim is our hope and strength, and help in troubles, ready to be found.
46:3Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be moved, and though the mountains fall into the midst of the sea.
46:4Though the waters of it rage and be troubled, and the mountains shake at the surges of the same. Selah,
46:5Yet there is a River, whose streams shall make glad the city of Elohim:even the Sanctuary of the Tabernacles of the most High.
46:6Elohim is in the midst of it:therefore shall it not be moved:Elohim shall help it very early.
46:7When the nations raged, and the kingdoms were moved, God thundered, and the earth melted.
46:8YHWH of hosts is with us:the Elohim of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.
46:9Come,and behold the works of YHWH, what desolations he has made in the earth.
46:10He makes wars to cease to the ends of the world:he breaks the bow and cuts the spear, and burns the chariots with fire.
46:11Be still and know that I am Elohim:I will be exalted among the heathen, and I will be exalted in the earth.
46:12YHWH of hosts is with us:the Elohim of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.
Chapter 47
47:1To him that excels. A Psalm committed to the sons of Korah.
47:2All people clap your hands: sing loud to Elohim with a joyful voice.
47:3For YHWH is high, and terrible:a great King over all the earth.
47:4He has subdued the people under us,and the nations under our feet.
47:5He has chosen our inheritance for us:even the glory of Jacob whom he loved. Selah.
47:6Elohim is gone up with triumph, even YHWH, with the sound of the trumpet.
47:7Sing praises to Elohim, sing praises:sing praises to our King, sing praises.
47:8For Elohim is the King of all the earth:sing praises every one that has understanding.
47:9Elohim reigns over the heathen:Elohim sits upon his holy throne.
47:10The princes of the people are gathered to the people of the Elohim of Abraham:for the shields of the world belong to Elohim:he is greatly to be exalted.
Chapter 48
48:1A song or Psalm committed to the sons of Korah.
48:2Great is YHWH, and greatly to be praised, in the City of our Elohim, even upon his holy Mountain.
48:3Mount Zion, lying Northward, is fair in situation:it is the joy of the whole earth, and the City of the great King.
48:4In the palaces of it Elohim is known for a refuge.
48:5For lo, the Kings were gathered, and went together.
48:6When they saw it, they marveled:they were astonished, and suddenly driven back.
48:7Fear came there upon them, and sorrow, as upon a woman in labor.
48:8As with an east wind you break the ships of Tarshish, so were they destroyed.
48:9As we have heard, so have we seen in the city of YHWH of hosts, in the City of our Elohim:Elohim will establish it forever. Selah.
48:10We wait for your chesed, O Elohim, in the midst of your Temple.
48:11O Elohim, according to your Name, so is your praise to the worlds end:your right hand is full of righteousness.
48:12Let mount Zion rejoice, and the daughters of Judah be glad, because of your judgments.
48:13Compass about Zion, and go round about it, and tell the towers of it.
48:14Set your heart on the wall of it: behold her towers, that you may tell your posterity.
48:15For this Elohim is our Elohim forever and ever:he shall be our guide to the death.
Chapter 49
49:1To him that excels. A Psalm committed to the sons of Korah.
49:2Hear this, all the people: give ear, all you that dwell in the world,
49:3As well low as high, both rich and poor.
49:4My mouth shall speak of wisdom, and the meditation of my heart is of knowledge.
49:5I will incline my ear to a parable, and utter my grave matter upon the harp.
49:6Why should I fear in the evil days, when iniquity shall compass me about, as at my heels?
49:7They trust in their goods, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches.
49:8Yet a man can by no means redeem his brother:he cannot give his ransom to Elohim,
49:9(So precious is the redemption of their nepheshes, and the continuance forever)
49:10That he may live still forever, and not see the grave.
49:11For he sees that wise men die,and also that the ignorant and foolish perish, and leave their riches for others.
49:12Yet they think, their houses, and their habitations shall continue forever, even from generation to generation, and call their lands by their names.
49:13But man shall not continue in honor:he is like the beasts that die.
49:14This their way utters their foolishness:yet their posterity delight in their talk. Selah.
49:15Like sheep they lie in Sheol:death devours them, and the righteous shall have dominion over them in the morning:for their beauty shall consume, when they shall go from their house to Sheol.
49:16But Elohim shall deliver my nephesh from the power of Sheol:for he will receive me. Selah.
49:17Be not you afraid when one is made rich, and when the glory of his house is increased.
49:18For he shall take nothing away when he dies, neither shall his pomp descend after him.
49:19For while he lived, he rejoiced himself:and men will praise you, when you make much of yourself.
49:20He shall enter into the generation of his fathers, and they shall never see light.
49:21Man is in honor, and understands not:he is like to beasts that perish.
Chapter 50
50:1A Psalm of Asaph. The Elohim of Gods, even YHWH has spoken and called the earth from the rising up of the sun to the going down of it.
50:2Out of Zion, which is the perfection of beauty, has Elohim shined.
50:3Our Elohim shall come and shall not keep silence:a fire shall devour before him,and a mighty tempest shall be moved round about him.
50:4He shall call the heaven above, and the earth to judge his people.
50:5Gather my Saints together to me, those that make a covenant with me with sacrifice.
50:6And the heavens shall declare his righteousness:for Elohim is judge himself. Selah.
50:7Hear, O my people,and I will speak:hear, O Israel,and I will testify to you:for I am Elohim, even your Elohim.
50:8I will not reprove you for your sacrifices, or your burnt offerings, that have not been continually before me.
50:9I will take no bullock out of your house, nor goats out of your folds.
50:10For all the beasts of the forest are mine, and the beasts on a thousand mountains.
50:11I know all the fowls on the mountains:and the wild beasts of the field are mine.
50:12If I be hungry, I will not tell you: for the world is mine, and all that is in it.
50:13Will I eat the flesh of bulls? Or drink the blood of goats?
50:14Offer to Elohim praise, and pay your vows to the most High,
50:15And call upon me in the day of trouble:so will I deliver you,and you shall glorify me.
50:16But to the wicked said Elohim, What have you to do to declare my ordinances, that you should take my covenant in your mouth,
50:17Seeing you hate to be reformed, and have cast my words behind you?
50:18For when you see a thief, you run with him,and you are partaker with the adulterers.
50:19You give your mouth to evil, and with your tongue you forge deceit.
50:20You sit,and speak against your brother, and slander your mother's son.
50:21These things have you done, and I held my tongue:therefore you thought that I was like you:but I will reprove you,and set them in order before you.
50:22Oh consider this, you that forget God,lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none that can deliver you.
50:23He that offers praise, shall glorify me:and to him, that disposes his way aright, will I show the salvation of Elohim.
Chapter 51
51:1To him that excels. A Psalm of David.
51:2When the Prophet Nathan came to him, after he had gone in to Bathsheba.
51:3Be gracious to me, O Elohim, according to your chesed: according to the multitude of your compassions put away my transgressions.
51:4Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
51:5For I know my iniquities, and my sin is ever before me.
51:6Against you, against you only have I sinned, and done evil in your sight, that you may be just when you speak, and pure when you judge.
51:7Behold, I was born in iniquity, and in sin has my mother conceived me.
51:8Behold, you love truth in the inward affections:therefore have you taught me wisdom in the secret of my heart.
51:9Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean:wash me,and I shall be whiter than snow.
51:10Make me to hear joy and gladness, that the bones, which you have broken, may rejoice.
51:11Hide your face from my sins, and put away all my iniquities.
51:12Create in me a clean heart, O Elohim, and renew a right spirit within me.
51:13Cast me not away from your presence, and do not take your Holy Spirit from me.
51:14Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and establish me with a willing spirit.
51:15Then shall I teach your ways to the wicked, and sinners shall be converted to you.
51:16Deliver me from blood, O Elohim, who are the Elohim of my salvation, and my tongue shall sing joyfully of your righteousness.
51:17Open my lips, O Adonai, and my mouth shall show forth your praise.
51:18For you desire no sacrifice, though I would give it:you delight not in burnt offering.
51:19The sacrifices of Elohim are a contrite spirit:a contrite and a broken heart, O Elohim, you will not despise.
51:20Be favorable to Zion for your good pleasure:build the walls of Jerusalem.
51:21Then shall you accept the sacrifices of righteousness, even the burnt offering and oblation:then shall they offer calves upon your altar.
Chapter 52
52:1To him that excels. A Psalm of David to give instruction.
52:2When Doeg the Edomite came and showed Saul, and said to him, David is come to the house of Abimelech.
52:3Why boast you yourself in your wickedness, O man of power? The chesed of El indurs daily.
52:4Your tongue imagines mischief, and is like a sharp razor, that cuts deceitfully.
52:5You do love evil more than good, and lies more than to speak the truth. Selah.
52:6You love all words that may destroy, O deceitful tongue!
52:7So shall El destroy you forever:he shall take you and pluck you out of your tabernacle, and root you out of the land of the living. Selah.
52:8The righteous also shall see it,and fear, and shall laugh at him, saying,
52:9Behold the man that took not Elohim for his strength, but trusted to the multitude of his riches, and put his strength in his malice.
52:10But I shall be like a green olive tree in the house of Elohim:for I trusted in the chesed of Elohim forever and ever.
52:11I will always praise you,for that you have done this, and I will hope in your Name, because it is good before your Saints.
Chapter 53
53:1To him that excels on Mahalath. A Psalm of David to give instruction.
53:2The fool has said in his heart, There is no Elohim. They have corrupted and done abominable wickedness: there is none that does good.
53:3Elohim looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that would understand, and seek Elohim.
53:4Every one is gone back:they are altogether corrupt:there is none that does good, no not one.
53:5Do not the workers of iniquity know that they eat up my people as they eat bread? They call not upon Elohim.
53:6There they were afraid for fear, where no fear was:for Elohim has scattered the bones of him that besieged you:you have put them to confusion, because Elohim has cast them off.
53:7Oh give salvation to Israel out of Zion:when Elohim turns the captivity of his people, then Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.
Chapter 54
54:1To him that excels on Neginoth. A Psalm of David, to give instruction.
54:2When the Ziphims came and said to Saul, Is not David hid among us?
54:3Save me, O Elohim, by your Name, and by your power judge me.
54:4O Elohim, hear my prayer:listen to the words of my mouth.
54:5For strangers are risen up against me,and tyrants seek my nephesh:they have not set Elohim before them. Selah.
54:6Behold, Elohim is my helper:Adonai is with them that uphold my nephesh.
54:7He shall reward evil to my enemies:Oh cut them off in your truth!
54:8Then I will sacrifice freely to you:I will praise Your Name, O YHWH, because it is good.
54:9For he has delivered me out of all trouble, and my eye has seen my desire upon my enemies.
Chapter 55
55:1To him that excels on Neginoth. A Psalm of David to give instruction.
55:2Hear my prayer, O Elohim, and hide not yourself from my supplication.
55:3Listen to me,and answer me:I mourn in my prayer,and make a noise,
55:4For the voice of the enemy, and for the vexation of the wicked, because they have brought iniquity upon me,and furiously hate me.
55:5My heart trembles within me,and the terrors of death are fallen upon me.
55:6Fear and trembling are come upon me,and a horrible fear has covered me.
55:7And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove:then would I fly away and rest.
55:8Behold, I would take my flight far off,and lodge in the wilderness. Selah.
55:9He would make haste for my deliverance from the stormy wind and tempest.
55:10Destroy, O Adonai, and divide their tongues:for I have seen cruelty and strife in the city.
55:11Day and night they go about it upon the walls of it: both iniquity and mischief are in the midst of it.
55:12Wickedness is in the midst of it:deceit and guile depart not from her streets.
55:13Surely my enemy did not defame me:for I could have born it:neither did my adversary exalt himself against me:for I would have hid me from him.
55:14But it was you, O man, even my companion, my guide and my familiar:
55:15Which delighted in consulting together, and went into the House of Elohim as companions.
55:16Let death sense upon them:let them go down alive into Sheol:for wickedness is in their dwellings, even in the midst of them.
55:17But I will call to Elohim, and YHWH will save me.
55:18Evening and morning, and at noon will I pray, and make a noise, and he will hear my voice.
55:19He has delivered my nephesh in peace from the battle, that was against me:for many were with me.
55:20Elohim shall hear and afflict them, even he that reigns of old, Selah. Because they have no changes, therefore they fear not El.
55:21He laid his hand upon such, as be at peace with him,and he broke his covenant.
55:22The words of his mouth were softer than butter, yet war was in his heart:his words were more gentle than oil, yet they were swords.
55:23Cast your burden upon YHWH,and he shall nourish you:he will not suffer the righteous to fall forever.
55:24And you, O Elohim, shall bring them down into the pit of corruption:the bloody, and deceitful men shall not live half their days:but I will trust in you.
Chapter 56
56:1To him that excels. A Psalm of David on Michtam, concerning the dumb dove in a far country, when the Philistines took him in Gath.
56:2Be gracious to me, O Elohim, for man would swallow me up: he fights continually and vexes me.
56:3My enemies would daily swallow me up:for many fight against me, O you most High.
56:4When I was afraid, I trusted in you.
56:5I will rejoice in Elohim, because of his word, I trust in Elohim, and will not fear what flesh can do to me.
56:6My own words grieve me daily:all their thoughts are against me to do me hurt.
56:7They gather together, and keep themselves close:they mark my steps, because they wait for my nephesh.
56:8They think they shall escape by iniquity:O Elohim, cast these people down in your anger.
56:9You have counted my wanderings:put my tears into your bottle:are they not in your register?
56:10When I cry, then my enemies shall turn back:this I know, for Elohim is with me.
56:11I will rejoice in Elohim because of his word:in YHWH will I rejoice because of his word.
56:12In Elohim do I trust:I will not be afraid what man can do to me.
56:13Your vows are upon me, O Elohim:I will render praises to you.
56:14For you have delivered my nephesh from death, and also my feet from falling, that I may walk before Elohim in the light of the living.
Chapter 57
57:1To him that excels. Destroy not. A Psalm of David on Michtam. When he fled from Saul in the cave.
57:2Be gracious to me, O Elohim, be gracious to me: for my nephesh trusts in you, and in the shadow of your wings will I trust, till these afflictions overpass.
57:3I will call to Elohim Elyon, even to El,that performs his promise toward me.
57:4He will send from heaven, and save me from the reproof of him that would swallow me. Selah. Elohim will send his chesed, and his truth.
57:5My nephesh is among lions:I lie among the children of men, that are set on fire:whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.
57:6Exalt yourself, O Elohim, above the heaven, and let your glory be upon all the earth.
57:7They have laid a net for my steps:my nephesh is pressed down:they have digged a pit before me,and are fallen into the midst of it. Selah.
57:8My heart is prepared, O Elohim, my heart is prepared:I will sing and give praise.
57:9Awake my tongue, awake lyre and harp:I will awake early.
57:10I will praise you, O Adonai, among the people, and I will sing to you among the nations.
57:11For your chesed is great to the heavens, and your truth to the clouds.
57:12Exalt yourself, O Elohim, above the heavens, and let your glory be upon all the earth.
Chapter 58
58:1To him that excels. Destroy not. A Psalm of David on Michtam.
58:2Is it true? O Congregation, speak you justly? O sons of men, do you judge uprightly?
58:3Yes, rather you imagine mischief in your heart:your hands execute cruelty upon the earth.
58:4The wicked are strangers from the womb:even from the belly have they erred, and speak lies.
58:5Their poison is even like the poison of a serpent:like the deaf adder that stops his ear.
58:6Which hears not the voice of the inchanter, though he be most expert in charming.
58:7Break their teeth, O Elohim, in their mouths:break the jaws of the young lions, O YHWH.
58:8Let them melt like the waters, let them pass away:when he shoots his arrows, let them be as broken.
58:9Let them consume like a snail that melts, and like the untimely fruit of a woman, that has not seen the sun.
58:10As raw flesh before your pots feel the fire of thorns:so let him carry them away as with a whirlwind in his wrath.
58:11The righteous shall rejoice when he sees the vengeance:he shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked.
58:12And men shall say, Verily there is fruit for the righteous:doubtless there is a Elohim that judges in the earth.
Chapter 59
59:1To him that excels. Destroy not. A Psalm of David on Michtam. When Saul sent and they did watch the house to kill him.
59:2O my Elohim, deliver me from my enemies: defend me from them that rise up against me.
59:3Deliver me from the wicked doers, and save me from the bloody men.
59:4For lo, they have laid wait for my nephesh:the mighty men are gathered against me, not for my offense, nor for my sin, O YHWH.
59:5They run and prepare themselves without a fault on my part:arise therefore to assist me,and behold.
59:6Even You, O YHWH Elohim of hosts, O Elohim of Israel awake to visit all the heathen, and be not gracious to all that transgress maliciously. Selah.
59:7They go to and fro in the evening:they bark like dogs, and go about the city.
59:8Behold, they brag in their talk, and swords are in their lips:for, Who, say they, does hear?
59:9But You, O YHWH, shall have them in derision, and you shall laugh at all the heathen.
59:10He is strong:but I will wait upon you:for Elohim is my defense.
59:11Elohim of my chesed will meet me:Elohim will let me see my desire upon my enemies.
59:12Slay them not, lest my people forget it:but scatter them abroad by your power, and put them down, O Adonai our shield,
59:13For the sin of their mouth, and the words of their lips:and let them be taken in their pride, even for their perjury and lies, that they speak.
59:14Consume them in your wrath:consume them that they be no more:and let them know that Elohim rules in Jacob, even to the ends of the world. Selah.
59:15And in the evening they shall go to and fro,and bark like dogs, and go about the city.
59:16They shall run here and there for food:and surely they shall not be satisfied, though they stay all night.
59:17But I will sing of your power, and will praise your chesed in the morning:for you have been my defense and refuge in the day of my trouble.
59:18To you, O my Strength, will I sing:for Elohim is my defense, and Elohim of my chesed.
Chapter 60
60:1To him that excels upon Shushan Eduth, or Michtam. A Psalm of David to teach.
60:2When he fought against Aram Naharaim, and against Aram Zobah, when Joab returned and slew twelve thousand Edomites in the salt valley.
60:3O Elohim, you have cast us out, you have scattered us, you have been angry, turn again to us.
60:4You have made the land to tremble, and have made it to gape: heal the breaches of it, for it is shaken.
60:5You have showed your people heavy things:you have made us to drink the wine of giddiness.
60:6But now you have given a banner to them that fear you, that it may be displayed because of your truth. Selah.
60:7That your beloved may be delivered, help with your right hand and hear me.
60:8Elohim has spoken in his holiness:therefore I will rejoice:I shall divide Shechem, and measure the valley of Succoth.
60:9Gilead shall be mine, and Manasseh shall be mine:Ephraim also shall be the strength of my head:Judah is my lawgiver.
60:10Moab shall be my wash pot:over Edom will I cast out my shoe:Palestina show yourself joyful for me.
60:11Who will lead me into the strong city? Who will bring me to Edom?
60:12Will not you, O Elohim, who had cast us off,and did not go forth, O Elohim, with our armies?
60:13Give us help against trouble:for vain is the help of man.
60:14Through Elohim we shall do valiantly:for he shall tread down our enemies.
Chapter 61
61:1To him that excels on Neginoth. A Psalm of David.
61:2Hear my cry, O Elohim: give ear to my prayer.
61:3From the ends of the earth will I cry to you:when my heart is oppress, bring me upon the rock that is higher than I.
61:4For you have been my hope, and a strong tower against the enemy.
61:5I will dwell in your Tabernacle forever, and my trust shall be under the covering of your wings. Selah.
61:6For you, O Elohim, have heard my desires:you have given a heritage to those that fear your Name.
61:7You shall give the King a long life:his years shall be as many ages.
61:8He shall dwell before Elohim forever:prepare chesed and faithfulness that they may preserve him.
61:9So will I always sing praise to your Name in performing daily my vows.
Chapter 62
62:1To the excellent musician Jeduthun. A Psalm of David.
62:2Yet my nephesh keeps silence to Elohim: of him comes my salvation.
62:3Yet he is my strength and my salvation, and my defense:therefore I shall not much be moved.
62:4How long will you imagine mischief against a man? You shall be all slain:you shall be as a bowed wall, or as a wall shaken.
62:5Yet they consult to cast him down from his dignity:their delight is in lies, they bless with their mouths, but curse with their hearts. Selah.
62:6Yet my nephesh keep you silence to Elohim:for my hope is in him.
62:7Yet is he my strength, and my salvation, and my defense:therefore I shall not be moved.
62:8In Elohim is my salvation and my glory, the rock of my strength:in Elohim is my trust.
62:9Trust in him always, the people:pour out your hearts before him,for Elohim is our hope. Selah.
62:10Yet the children of men are vanity, the chief men are lies:to lay them upon a balance they are altogether lighter than vanity.
62:11Trust not in oppression nor in robbery:be not vain:if riches increase, do not set your heart on it.
62:12Elohim spoke once or twice, I have heard it,that power belongs to Elohim,
62:13And to you, O Adonai, chesed:for you reward every one according to his work.
Chapter 63
63:1A Psalm of David. When he was in the wilderness of Judah.
63:2O Elohim, you are my El, early will I seek you: my nephesh thirsts for you: my flesh longs greatly after you in a barren and dry land without water.
63:3Thus I behold you as in the Sanctuary, when I behold your power and your glory.
63:4For your chesed is better than life:therefore my lips shall praise you.
63:5Thus will I magnify you all my life, and lift up my hands in your name.
63:6My nephesh shall be satisfied, as with marrow and fatness, and my mouth shall praise you with joyful lips,
63:7When I remember you on my bed,and when I think upon you in the night watches.
63:8Because you have been my helper, therefore under the shadow of your wings will I rejoice.
63:9My nephesh cleaves to you:for your right hand upholds me.
63:10Therefore they that seek my nephesh to destroy it, they shall go into the lowest parts of the earth.
63:11They shall cast him down with the edge of the sword, and they shall be a portion for foxes.
63:12But the King shall rejoice in Elohim, and all that swear by him shall rejoice in him:for the mouth of them that speak lies, shall be stopped.
Chapter 64
64:1To him that excels. A Psalm of David.
64:2Hear my voice, O Elohim, in my prayer: preserve my life from fear of the enemy.
64:3Hide me from the conspiracy of the wicked, and from the rage of the workers of iniquity.
64:4Which have whet their tongue like a sword, and shot for their arrows bitter words.
64:5To shoot at the upright in secret:they shoot at him suddenly, and fear not.
64:6They encourage themselves in a wicked purpose:they commune together to lay snares secretly, and say, Who shall see them?
64:7They have sought out iniquities, and have accomplished that which they sought out, even every one his secret thoughts, and the depth of his heart.
64:8But Elohim will shoot an arrow at them suddenly:their strokes shall be at once.
64:9They shall cause their own tongue to fall upon them:and whoever shall see them, shall flee away.
64:10And all men shall see it,and declare the work of Elohim, and they shall understand, what he has worked.
64:11But the righteous shall be glad in YHWH,and trust in him:and all that are upright of heart, shall rejoice.
Chapter 65
65:1To him that excels. A Psalm or song of David.
65:2O Elohim, praise waits for you in Zion, and to you shall the vow be performed.
65:3Because you hear the prayer, to you shall all flesh come.
65:4Wicked deeds have prevailed against me:but you will be merciful to our transgressions.
65:5Blessed is he, whom you choose and cause to come to you:he shall dwell in your courts, and we shall be satisfied with the pleasures of your House, even of your holy Temple.
65:6O Elohim of our salvation, you will answer us with fearful signs in your righteousness, O you the hope of all the ends of the earth, and of them that are far off in the sea.
65:7He establishes the mountains by his power:and is girded about with strength.
65:8He appeases the noise of the seas and the noise of the waves of it, and the tumults of the people.
65:9They also, that dwell in the uttermost parts of the earth, shall be afraid of your signs:you shall make the East and the West to rejoice.
65:10You visit the earth, and water it:you make it very rich:the River of Elohim is full of water:you prepare them grain:for so you appoint it.
65:11You water abundantly the furrows of it: you cause the rain to descend into the valleys of it: you make it soft with showers, and bless the bud of it.
65:12You crown the year with your goodness, and your steps drop fatness.
65:13They drop upon the pastures of the wilderness:and the hills shall be compassed with gladness.
65:14The pastures are clad with sheep:the valleys also shall be covered with grain:therefore they shout for joy,and sing.
Chapter 66
66:1To him that excels. A song or Psalm. Rejoice in Elohim, all you inhabitants of the earth.
66:2Sing forth the glory of his name:make his praise glorious.
66:3Say to Elohim, How terrible are you in your works! Through the greatness of your power shall your enemies be in subjection to you.
66:4All the world shall worship you,and sing to you, even sing of your Name. Selah.
66:5Come and behold the works of Elohim:he is terrible in his doing toward the sons of men.
66:6He has turned the Sea into dry land:they pass through the river on foot:there did we rejoice in him.
66:7He rules the world with his power:his eyes behold the nations:the rebellious shall not exalt themselves. Selah.
66:8Praise our Elohim, the people, and make the voice of his praise to be heard.
66:9Which holds our nepheshes in life, and suffers not our feet to slip.
66:10For you, O Elohim, have proved us, you have tried us as silver is tried.
66:11You have brought us into the snare, and laid oppression upon our loins.
66:12You have caused men to ride over our heads:we went into fire and into water, but you brought us out into a wealthy place.
66:13I will go into your House with burnt offerings, and will pay you my vows,
66:14Which my lips have promised, and my mouth has spoken in my affliction.
66:15I will offer to you the burnt offerings of fat rams with incense:I will prepare bullocks and goats. Selah.
66:16Come and listen, all you that fear Elohim, and I will tell you what he has done to my nephesh.
66:17I called to him with my mouth, and he was exalted with my tongue.
66:18If I regard wickedness in my heart, Adonai will not hear me.
66:19But Elohim has heard me,and considered the voice of my prayer.
66:20Praised be Elohim, who has not put back my prayer, nor his chesed from me.
Chapter 67
67:1To him that excels on Neginoth. A Psalm or song.
67:2Elohim be gracious to us, and bless us, and cause his face to shine among us. Selah.
67:3That they may know your way upon earth, and your saving health among all nations.
67:4Let the people praise you, O Elohim:let all the people praise you.
67:5Let the people be glad and rejoice:for you shall judge the people righteously, and govern the nations upon the earth. Selah.
67:6Let the people praise you, O Elohim:let all the people praise you.
67:7Then shall the earth bring forth her increase, and Elohim, even our Elohim shall bless us.
67:8Elohim shall bless us,and all the ends of the earth shall fear him.
Chapter 68
68:1To him that excels. A Psalm or song of David.
68:2Elohim will arise, and his enemies shall be scattered: they also that hate him, shall flee before him.
68:3As the smoke vanishes, so shall you drive them away:and as wax melts before the fire, so shall the wicked perish at the presence of Elohim.
68:4But the righteous shall be glad, and rejoice before Elohim:yes, they shall leap for joy.
68:5Sing to Elohim, and sing praises to his name:exalt him that rides upon the heavens, in his Name Jah,and rejoice before him.
68:6He is a Father of the fatherless, and a Judge of the widows, even Elohim in his holy habitation.
68:7Elohim makes the solitary to dwell in families, and delivers them that were prisoners in stocks:but the rebellious shall dwell in a dry land.
68:8O Elohim, when you went forth before your people:when you went through the wilderness, (Selah)
68:9The earth shook, and the heavens dropped at the presence of this Elohim:even Sinai was moved at the presence of Elohim, even the Elohim of Israel.
68:10You, O Elohim, send a gracious rain upon your inheritance, and you did refresh it when it was weary.
68:11Your Congregation dwelled in it: for you, O Elohim, have of your goodness prepared it for the poor.
68:12Adonai gave matter to the women to tell of the great army.
68:13Kings of the armies did flee:they did flee, and she that remained in the house, divided the spoil.
68:14Though you have lain among pots, yet shall you be as the wings of a dove that is covered with silver, and whose feathers are like yellow gold.
68:15When Shaddai scattered Kings in it, it was white as the snow in Zalmon.
68:16The mountain of Elohim is like the mountain of Bashan:it is a high Mountain, as mount Bashan.
68:17Why leap you, you high mountains? As for this Mountain, Elohim delights to dwell in it:yes, YHWH will dwell in it forever.
68:18The chariots of Elohim are twenty thousand thousand Angels, and Adonai is among them, as in the Sanctuary of Sinai.
68:19You are gone up on high:you have led captivity captive, and received gifts for men:yes, even the rebellious have you led, that the Lord Elohim might dwell there.
68:20Praised be Adonai, even the God of our salvation, which lads us daily with benefits. Selah.
68:21This is our God, even the God that saves us:and to YHWH God belong the issues of death.
68:22Surely Elohim will wound the head of his enemies, and the hairy head of him that walks in his sins.
68:23Adonai has said, I will bring my people again from Bashan:I will bring them again from the depths of the Sea:
68:24That your foot may be dipped in blood, and the tongue of your dogs in the blood of the enemies, even in it.
68:25They have seen, O Elohim, your goings, the goings of my El,and my King, who are in the Sanctuary.
68:26The singers went before, the players of instruments after:in the midst were the maids playing with timbrels.
68:27Praise Elohim in the assemblies, and YHWH, you that are of the fountain of Israel.
68:28There was little Beniamin with their ruler, and the princes of Judah with their assembly, the princes of Zebulun, and the princes of Naphtali.
68:29Your Elohim has commanded your strength: establish, O Elohim, that, which you have worked in us,
68:30Out of your Temple upon Jerusalem:and Kings shall bring presents to you.
68:31Destroy the company of the spearmen, and multitude of the mighty bulls with the calves of the people, that tread under feet pieces of silver:scatter the people that delight in war.
68:32Then shall the princes come out of Egypt:Ethiopia shall have to stretch her hands to Elohim.
68:33Sing to Elohim, O you kingdoms of the earth:sing praise to Adonai, (Selah)
68:34To him that rides upon the most high heavens, which were from the beginning:behold, he will send out by his voice a mighty sound.
68:35Ascribe the power to Elohim:for his majesty is upon Israel, and his strength is in the clouds.
68:36O Elohim, you are terrible out of your holy places:the Elohim of Israel is he that gives strength and power to the people:praised be God.
Chapter 69
69:1To him that excels upon Shoshannim. A Psalm of David.
69:2Save me, O Elohim: for the waters are entered even to my nephesh.
69:3I stick fast in the deep mire, where no stay is:I am come into deep waters, and the streams run over me.
69:4I am weary of crying:my throat is dry:my eyes fail, while I wait for my Elohim.
69:5They that hate me without a cause, are more than the hairs of my head:they that would destroy me,and are my enemies falsely, are mighty, so that I restored that which I took not.
69:6O Elohim, you know my foolishness, and my faults are not hid from you.
69:7Let not them that trust in you, O Adonai YHWH of hosts, be ashamed for me:let not those that seek you, be confounded through me, O God of Israel.
69:8For your sake have I borne reproach:shame has covered my face.
69:9I am become a stranger to my brethren, even an alien to my mothers sons.
69:10For the zeal of your house has eaten me,and the rebukes of them that rebuked you, are fallen upon me.
69:11I wept and my nephesh fasted, but that was to my reproof.
69:12I put on a sack also:and I became a proverb to them.
69:13They that sat in the gate, spoke of me, and the drinkers of strong drink sang of me.
69:14But YHWH, I make my prayer to you in an acceptable time, even in the multitude of your chesed:O Elohim, hear me in the truth of your salvation.
69:15Deliver me out of the mire, that I sink not:let me be delivered from them that hate me,and out of the deep waters.
69:16Let not the water flood drown me,neither let the deep swallow me up:and let not the pit shut her mouth upon me.
69:17Hear me, O YHWH,for your chesed is good:turn to me according to the multitude of your tender mercies.
69:18And do not hide your face from your servant, for I am in trouble:make haste and hear me.
69:19Draw near to my nephesh and redeem it:deliver me because of my enemies.
69:20You have known my reproof and my shame, and my dishonor:all my adversaries are before you.
69:21Rebuke has broken my heart, and I am full of heaviness, and I looked for some to have pity on me,but there was none:and for comforters, but I found none.
69:22For they gave me gall in my meat, and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.
69:23Let their table be a snare before them, and their prosperity their ruin.
69:24Let their eyes be darkened, that they see not: and make their loins always to tremble.
69:25Pour out your anger upon them, and let your wrathful displeasure take them.
69:26Let their habitation be void, and let none dwell in their tents.
69:27For they persecute him, whom you have smitten:and they add to the sorrow of them, whom you have wounded.
69:28Lay iniquity upon their iniquity, and let them not come into your righteousness.
69:29Let them be put out of the Book of Life, neither let them be written with the righteous.
69:30When I am poor and in heaviness, your help, O Elohim, shall exalt me.
69:31I will praise the Name of Elohim with a song, and magnify him with thanksgiving.
69:32This also shall please YHWH better than a young bullock, that has horns and hooves.
69:33The humble shall see this, and they that seek Elohim, shall be glad, and your heart shall live.
69:34For YHWH hears the poor, and despises not his prisoners.
69:35Let heaven and earth praise him:the seas and all that moves in them.
69:36For Elohim will save Zion, and build the cities of Judah, that men may dwell there and have it in possession.
69:37The seed also of his servants shall inherit it: and they that love his name, shall dwell in it.
70:1To him excels. A Psalm of David to put in remembrance.
70:2O Elohim, haste you to deliver me: make haste to help me, O YHWH.
70:3Let them be confounded and put to shame, that seek my nephesh:let them be turned backward and put to rebuke, that desire my hurt.
70:4Let them be turned back for a reward of their shame, which said, Aha, aha.
70:5But let all those that seek you, be joyful and glad in you,and let all that love your salvation, say always, Elohim be praised.
70:6Now I am poor and needy:O Elohim, make haste to me:you are my helper, and my deliverer:O YHWH, make no staying.
Chapter 71
71:1In You, O YHWH, I trust:let me never be ashamed.
71:2Rescue me and deliver me in your righteousness:incline your ear to me and save me.
71:3Be you my strong rock, to which I may always resort: you have given commandment to save me: for you are my rock, and my fortress.
71:4Deliver me, O my Elohim, out of the hand of the wicked:out of the hand of the evil and cruel man.
71:5For you are my hope, O Adonai God, even my trust from my youth.
71:6Upon you have I been stayed from the womb:you are he that took me out of my mother's bowels:my praise shall be always of you.
71:7I am become as it were a monster to many:but you are my sure trust.
71:8Let my mouth be filled with your praise, and with your glory every day.
71:9Cast me not off in the time of age:forsake me not when my strength fails.
71:10For my enemies speak of me,and they that lay wait for my nephesh, take their counsel together,
71:11Saying, Elohim has forsaken him:pursue and take him,for there is none to deliver him.
71:12Go not far from me, O Elohim:my Elohim, haste you to help me.
71:13Let them be confounded and consumed that are against my nephesh:let them be covered with reproof and confusion, that seek my hurt.
71:14But I will wait continually, and will praise you more and more.
71:15My mouth shall daily rehearse your righteousness, and your salvation:for I know not the number.
71:16I will go forward in the strength of Adonai YHWH,and will make mention of your righteousness, even of your only.
71:17O Elohim, you have taught me from my youth even until now:therefore will I tell of your wondrous works,
71:18Yes, even to my old age and gray head, O Elohim:forsake me not, until I have declared your arm to this generation, and your power to all them, that shall come.
71:19And your righteousness, O Elohim, I will exalt on high:for you have done great things:O Elohim, who is like to you!
71:20Which have showed me great troubles and adversities, but you will return, and revive me,and will come again, and take me up from the depth of the earth.
71:21You will increase my honor, and return and comfort me.
71:22Therefore will I praise you for your faithfulness, O Elohim, upon instrument and lyre:to you will I sing upon the harp, O Holy One of Israel.
71:23My lips will rejoice when I sing to you,and my nephesh, which you have delivered.
71:24My tongue also shall talk of your righteousness daily:for they are confounded and brought to shame, that seek my hurt.
Chapter 72
72:1A Psalm of Salomon.
72:2Give your judgments to the King, O Elohim, and your righteousness to the King's son.
72:3Then shall he judge your people in righteousness, and your poor with equity.
72:4The mountains and the hills shall bring peace to the people by justice.
72:5He shall judge the poor of the people:he shall save the children of the needy, and shall subdue the oppressor.
72:6They shall fear you as long as the sun and moon endures, from generations to generation.
72:7He shall come down like the rain upon the mown grass, and as the showers that water the earth.
72:8In his days shall the righteous flourish, and abundance of peace shall be so long as the moon endures.
72:9His dominion shall be also from sea to sea,and from the River to the ends of the land.
72:10They that dwell in the wilderness, shall kneel before him,and his enemies shall lick the dust.
72:11The Kings of Tarshish and of the isles shall bring presents:the Kings of Sheba and Seba shall bring gifts.
72:12Yes, all Kings shall worship him:all nations shall serve him.
72:13For he shall deliver the poor when he cries:the needy also, and him that has no helper.
72:14He shall redeem their nephesh from deceit and violence, and their blood shall be precious in his sight.
72:15He shall redeem their souls from deceit and violence, and dear shall their blood be in his sight.
72:16Yes, he shall live, and to him shall they give of the gold of Sheba:they shall also pray for him continually, and daily bless him.
72:17An handful of corn shall be sown in the earth, even in the top of the mountains, and the fruit of it shall shake like the trees of Lebanon:and the children shall flourish out of the city like the grass of the earth.
72:18His name shall be forever:his name shall indure as long as the sun:all nations shall bless him,and be blessed in him.
72:19Blessed be YHWH Elohim, even the Elohim of Israel, which only does wondrous things.
72:20And blessed be his glorious Name forever:and let all the earth be filled with his glory. So be it, even so be it. HERE END THE prayers of David, the son of Ishai.
Chapter 73
73:1A Psalm committed to Asaph. Yet Elohim is good to Israel:even, to the pure in heart.
73:2As for me, my feet were almost gone:my steps had well near slipped.
73:3For I feared at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
73:4For there are no bands in their death, but they are lusty and strong.
73:5They are not in trouble as other men, neither are they plagued with other men.
73:6Therefore pride is as a chain to them, and cruelty covers them as a garment.
73:7Their eyes stand out for fatness:they have more than heart can wish.
73:8They are licentious, and speak wickedly of their oppression:they talk presumptuously.
73:9They set their mouth against heaven, and their tongue walks through the earth.
73:10Therefore his people turn here:for waters of a full cup are wrung out to them.
73:11And they say, How does God know it? Or is there knowledge in Elyon?
73:12Lo, these are the wicked, yet prosper they always, and increase in riches.
73:13Certainly I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocence.
73:14For daily have I been punished, and chastened every morning.
73:15If I say, I will judge thus, behold the generation of your children:I have trespassed.
73:16Then thought I to know this, but it was too painful for me,
73:17Until I went into the Sanctuary of El:then understood I their end.
73:18Surely you have set them in slippery places, and cast them down into desolation.
73:19How suddenly are they destroyed, perished and horribly consumed,
73:20As a dream when one awakes! O Adonai, when you raise us up, you shall make their image despised.
73:21Certainly my heart was vexed, and I was pricked in my reins:
73:22So foolish was I and ignorant:I was a beast before you.
73:23Yet I was always with you:you have held me by my right hand.
73:24You will guide me by your counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.
73:25Whom have I in heaven but you? And I have desired none in the earth with you.
73:26My flesh fails and my heart also:but Elohim is the strength of my heart, and my portion forever.
73:27For lo, they that withdraw themselves from you, shall perish:you destroy all them that go a whoring from you.
73:28As for me, it is good for me to draw near to Elohim:therefore I have put my trust in Adonai YHWH,that I may declare all your works.
Chapter 74
74:1A Psalm to give instruction, committed to Asaph. O Elohim, why have you put us away forever? Why is your wrath kindled against the sheep of your pasture?
74:2Think upon your Congregation, which you have possessed of old, and on the rod of your inheritance, which you have redeemed, and on this mount Zion, in which you have dwelt.
74:3Lift up your strokes, that you may forever destroy every enemy that does evil to the Sanctuary.
74:4Your adversaries roar in the midst of your Congregation, and set up their banners for signs.
74:5He that lifted the axes upon the thick trees, was renowned, as one, that brought a thing to perfection:
74:6But now they break down the carved work of it with axes and hammers.
74:7They have cast your Sanctuary into the fire, and razed it to the ground, and have defiled the dwelling place of your Name.
74:8They said in their hearts, Let us destroy them altogether:they have burnt all the Synagogues of El in the land.
74:9We see not our signs:there is not one Prophet more, nor any with us that knows how long.
74:10O Elohim, how long shall the adversary reproach you? Shall the enemy blaspheme your Name forever?
74:11Why withdraw you your hand, even your right hand? Draw it out of your bosom, and consume them.
74:12Even Elohim is my King of old, working salvation in the midst of the earth.
74:13You did divide the sea by your power:you broke the heads of the dragons in the waters.
74:14You broke the head of Leviathan in pieces, and gave him to be meat for the people in wilderness.
74:15You broke up the fountain and river:you dried up mighty rivers.
74:16The day is yours, and the night is yours:you have prepared the light and the sun.
74:17You have set all the borders of the earth:you have made summer and winter.
74:18Remember this, that the enemy has reproached YHWH,and the foolish people has blasphemed your Name.
74:19Do not give the nephesh of your turtle dove to the beast, and forget not the Congregation of your poor forever.
74:20Consider your covenant:for the dark places of the earth are full of the habitations of the cruel.
74:21Oh let not the oppressed return ashamed, but let the poor and needy praise your Name.
74:22Arise, O Elohim:maintain your own cause:remember your daily reproach by the foolish man.
74:23Forget not the voice of your enemies:for the tumult of them, that rise against you, ascends continually.
Chapter 75
75:1To him that excels. Destroy not. A Psalm or song committed to Asaph.
75:2We will praise you, O Elohim, we will praise you, for your Name is near: therefore they will declare your wondrous works.
75:3When I shall take a convenient time, I will judge righteously.
75:4The earth and all the inhabitants of it are dissolved: but I will establish the pillars of it. Selah.
75:5I said to the foolish, Be not so foolish, and to the wicked, Lift not up the horn.
75:6Do not lift up your horn on high, neither speak with a stiff neck.
75:7For to come to preferment is neither from the East, nor from the West, nor from the South,
75:8But Elohim is the judge:he makes low and he makes high.
75:9For in the hand of YHWH is a cup,and the wine is red:it is full mixed, and he pours out of the same:surely all the wicked of the earth shall wring out and drink the dregs there.
75:10But I will declare forever, and sing praises to the Elohim of Jacob.
75:11All the horns of the wicked also will I break:but the horns of the righteous shall be exalted.
Chapter 76
76:1To him that excels on Neginoth. A Psalm or song committed to Asaph.
76:2Elohim is known in Judah: his Name is great in Israel.
76:3For in Salem is his Tabernacle, and his dwelling in Zion.
76:4There broke he the arrows of the bow, the shield and the sword and the battle. Selah.
76:5You are more bright and puissant, than the mountains of pray.
76:6The stout hearted are spoiled:they have slept their sleep, and all the men of strength have not found their hands.
76:7At your rebuke, O Elohim of Jacob, both the chariot and horse are cast a sleep.
76:8You, even you are to be feared:and who shall stand in your sight, when you are angry!
76:9You did cause your judgment to be heard from heaven:therefore the earth feared and was still,
76:10When you, O Elohim, arose to judgment, to help all the meek of the earth. Selah.
76:11Surely the rage of man shall turn to your praise:the remnant of the rage shall you restrain.
76:12Vow and perform to YHWH your Elohim, all you that be round about him:let them bring presents to him that ought to be feared.
76:13He shall cut off the spirit of princes:he is terrible to the Kings of the earth.
Chapter 77
77:1For the excellent musician Jeduthun. A Psalm committed to Asaph.
77:2My voice came to Elohim, when I cried: my voice came to Elohim, and he heard me.
77:3In the day of my trouble I sought Adonai:my sore ran and ceased not in the night:my nephesh refused comfort.
77:4I did think upon Elohim, and was troubled:I prayed, and my spirit was full of anguish. Selah.
77:5You keep my eyes waking:I was astonished and could not speak.
77:6Then I considered the days of old,and the years of ancient time.
77:7I called to remembrance my song in the night:I communed with my own heart, and my spirit searched diligently.
77:8Will Adonai absent himself forever? And will he show no more favor?
77:9Is his chesed clean gone forever? Does his promise fail for evermore?
77:10Has El forgotten to be merciful? Has he shut up his tender mercies in displeasure? Selah.
77:11And I said, This is my death:yet I remembered the years of the right hand of the most High.
77:12I remembered the works of the Lord:certainly I remembered your wonders of old.
77:13I did also meditate all your works, and did devise of your acts, saying,
77:14Your way, O Elohim, is in the Sanctuary:who is so great a Elohim as our God!
77:15You are the El that does wonders:you have declared your power among the people.
77:16You have redeemed your people with your arm, even the sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah.
77:17The waters saw you, O Elohim:the waters saw you,and were afraid:yes, the depths trembled.
77:18The clouds poured out water:the heavens gave a sound:yes, your arrows went abroad.
77:19The voice of your thunder was round about:the lightnings lightened the world:the earth trembled and shook.
77:20Your way is in the Sea,and your paths in the great waters, and your footsteps are not known.
77:21You did lead your people like sheep by the hand of Moses and Aaron.
Chapter 78
78:1A Psalm to give instruction committed to Asaph. Hear my Law, O my people: incline your ears to the words of my mouth.
78:2I will open my mouth in a parable:I will declare high sentences of old.
78:3Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us.
78:4We will not hide them from their children but to the generation to come we will show the praises of YHWH his power also, and his wonderful works that he has done:
78:5How he established a testimony in Jacob, and ordained a Law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should teach their children:
78:6That the posterity might know it,and the children, who should be born, should stand up,and declare it to their children:
78:7That they might set their hope on Elohim, and not forget the works of El but keep his commandments:
78:8And not to be as their fathers, a disobedient and rebellious generation:a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not faithful to El.
78:9The children of Ephraim being armed and shooting with the bow, turned back in the day of battle.
78:10They kept not the covenant of Elohim, but refused to walk in his Law,
78:11And forgot his Acts, and his wonderful works that he had showed them.
78:12He did marvelous things in the sight of their fathers in the land of Egypt:even in the field of Zoan.
78:13He divided the Sea,and led them through:he also made the waters to stand as a heap.
78:14In the day time also he led them with a cloud, and all the night with a light of fire.
78:15He split the rocks in the wilderness, and gave them drink as of the great depths.
78:16He brought floods also out of the stony rock;so that he made the waters to descend like the rivers.
78:17Yet they sinned still against him,and provoked the Highest in the wilderness,
78:18And tempted El in their hearts in requiring meat for their nephesh.
78:19They spoke against Elohim also, saying, Can El prepare a table in the wilderness?
78:20Behold, he smote the rock, that the water gushed out,and the streams overflowed:can he give bread also? Or prepare flesh for his people?
78:21Therefore YHWH heard and was angry, and the fire was kindled in Jacob, and also wrath came upon Israel,
78:22Because they believed not in Elohim, and trusted not in his help.
78:23Yet he had commanded the clouds above, and had opened the doors of heaven,
78:24And had rained down manna upon them to eat,and had given them of the wheat of heaven.
78:25Man did eat the bread of Angels:he sent them meat enough.
78:26He caused the east wind to pass in the heaven, and through his power he brought in the south wind.
78:27He rained flesh also upon them as dust, and feathered fowl as the sand of the sea.
78:28And he made it fall in the midst of their camp even round about their habitations.
78:29So they did eat and were well filled:for he gave them their desire.
78:30They were not turned from their lust, but the meat was yet in their mouths,
78:31When the wrath of Elohim came even upon them, and slew the strongest of them, and smote down the chosen men in Israel.
78:32For all this, they sinned still, and believed not his wondrous works.
78:33Therefore their days did he consume in vanity, and their years hastily.
78:34And when he slew them, they sought him and they returned, and sought El early.
78:35And they remembered that Elohim was their strength, and El Elyon their redeemer.
78:36But they flattered him with their mouth, and dissembled with him with their tongue.
78:37For their heart was not upright with him:neither were they faithful in his covenant.
78:38Yet he being merciful forgave their iniquity, and destroyed them not,but oftentimes called back his anger, and did not stir up all his wrath.
78:39For he remembered that they were flesh:yes, a wind that passes and comes not again.
78:40How oft did they provoke him in the wilderness? And grieve him in the desert?
78:41Yes, they returned, and tempted El,and limited the Holy One of Israel.
78:42They remembered not his hand, nor the day when he delivered them from the enemy,
78:43Nor him that set his signs in Egypt, and his wonders in the field of Zoan,
78:44And turned their rivers into blood, and their floods, that they could not drink.
78:45He sent a swarm of flies among them, which devoured them, and frogs, which destroyed them.
78:46He gave also their fruits to the caterpillar, and their labor to the grasshopper.
78:47He destroyed their vines with hail, and their wild fig trees with the hailstone.
78:48He gave their cattle also to the hail, and their flocks to the thunderbolts.
78:49He cast upon them the fierceness of his anger, indignation and wrath, and vexation by the sending out of evil Angels.
78:50He made a way to his anger:he spared not their nephesh from death, but gave their life to the pestilence,
78:51And smote all the firstborn in Egypt, even the beginning of their strength in the tabernacles of Ham.
78:52But he made his people to go out like sheep, and led them in the wilderness like a flock.
78:53Yes, he carried them out safely, and they feared not,and the Sea covered their enemies.
78:54And he brought them to the borders of his Sanctuary:even to this Mountain, which his right hand purchased.
78:55He cast out the heathen also before them, and caused them to fall to the lot of his inheritance, and made the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tabernacles.
78:56Yet they tempted, and provoked the most high Elohim, and kept not his testimonies,
78:57But turned back and dealt falsely like their fathers:they turned like a deceitful bow.
78:58And they provoked him to anger with their high places, and moved him to wrath with their graven images.
78:59Elohim heard this and was angry, and greatly abhorred Israel,
78:60So that he forsook the habitation of Shiloh, even the Tabernacle where he dwelt among men,
78:61And delivered his power into captivity, and his beauty into the enemies hand.
78:62And he gave up his people to the sword, and was angry with his inheritance.
78:63The fire devoured their chosen men,and their maids were not praised.
78:64Their Priests fell by the sword, and their widows lamented not.
78:65But Adonai awaked as one out of sleep, and as a strong man that after his wine cries out,
78:66And smote his enemies in the hinder parts, and put them to a perpetual shame.
78:67Yet he refused the tabernacle of Joseph, and chose not the tribe of Ephraim:
78:68But chose the tribe of Judah, and mount Zion which he loved.
78:69And he built his Sanctuary as a high palace, like the earth, which he established forever.
78:70He chose David also his servant, and took him from the sheepfolds.
78:71Even from behind the ewes with young brought he him to feed his people in Jacob, and his inheritance in Israel.
78:72So he fed them according to the simplicity of his heart, and guided them by the discretion of his hands.
Chapter 79
79:1A Psalm committed to Asaph. O Elohim, the heathen are come into your inheritance:your holy Temple have they defiled, and made Jerusalem heaps of stones.
79:2The dead bodies of your servants have they given to be food to the birds of the heavens:and the flesh of your Saints to the beasts of the earth.
79:3Their blood have they shed like waters round about Jerusalem, and there was none to bury them.
79:4We are a reproach to our neighbors, even a scorn and derision to them that are round about us.
79:5YHWH, how long will you be angry, forever? Shall your jealousy burn like fire?
79:6Pour out your wrath upon the heathen that have not known you,and upon the kingdoms that have not called upon your Name.
79:7For they have devoured Jacob and made his dwelling place desolate.
79:8Remember not against us the former iniquities, but make haste and let your tender mercies meet us:for we are in great misery.
79:9Help us, O Elohim of our salvation, for the glory of your Name, and deliver us, and be merciful to our sins for your Name's sake.
79:10Why should the heathen say, Where is their Elohim? Let him be known among the heathen in our sight by the vengeance of the blood of your servants that is shed.
79:11Let the sighing of the prisoners come before you:according to your mighty arm preserve the children of death,
79:12And render to our neighbors seven fold into their bosom their reproach, with what they have reproached you, O Adonai.
79:13So we your people, and sheep of your pasture shall praise you forever:and from generation to generation we will set forth your praise.
Chapter 80
80:1To him that excels on Shoshannim Eduth. A Psalm committed to Asaph.
80:2Hear, O you Shepherd of Israel, you that lead Joseph like sheep: show your brightness, you that sit between the Cherubim.
80:3Before Ephraim and Beniamin and Manasseh stir up your strength, and come to help us.
80:4Turn us again, O Elohim, and cause your face to shine that we may be saved.
80:5O YHWH Elohim of hosts, how long will You be angry against the prayer of Your people?
80:6You have fed them with the bread of tears, and given them tears to drink with great measure.
80:7You have made us a strife to our neighbors, and our enemies laugh at us among themselves.
80:8Turn us again, O Elohim of hosts:cause your face to shine, and we shall be saved.
80:9You have brought a vine out of Egypt:you have cast out the heathen, and planted it.
80:10You made room for it,and did cause it to take root, and it filled the land.
80:11The mountains were covered with the shadow of it, and the boughs of it were like the goodly cedars.
80:12She stretched out her branches to the Sea,and her boughs to the River.
80:13Why have you then broken down her hedges, so that all they who pass by the way, have plucked her?
80:14The wild boar out of the wood has destroyed it,and the wild beasts of the field have eaten it up.
80:15Return, we ask you, O Elohim of hosts:look down from heaven and behold and visit this vine,
80:16And the vineyard, that your right hand has planted, and the young vine, which you made strong for yourself.
80:17It is burnt with fire and cut down:and they perish at the rebuke of your countenance.
80:18Let your hand be upon the man of your right hand, and upon the son of man, whom you made strong for your own self.
80:19So will not we go back from you:revive you us,and we shall call upon your Name.
80:20Turn us again, O YHWH Elohim of hosts:cause your face to shine and we shall be saved.
Chapter 81
81:1To him that excels upon Gittith. A Psalm committed to Asaph.
81:2Sing joyfully to Elohim our strength: sing loud to the Elohim of Jacob.
81:3Take the song and bring forth the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the lyre.
81:4Blow the trumpet in the new moon, even in the time appointed, at our feast day.
81:5For this is a statute for Israel, and a Law of the Elohim of Jacob.
81:6He set this in Joseph for a testimony, when he came out of the land of Egypt, where I heard a language, that I understood not.
81:7I have withdrawn his shoulder from the burden, and his hands have left the pots.
81:8You called in affliction and I delivered you,and answered you in the secret of the thunder:I proved you at the waters of Meribah. Selah.
81:9Hear, O my people, and I will protest to you:O Israel, if you will listen to me,
81:10Let there be no strange god in you, neither worship you any strange god.
81:11For I am YHWH your Elohim, who brought you out of the land of Egypt:open your mouth wide and I will fill it.
81:12But my people would not hear my voice, and Israel would none of me.
81:13So I gave them up to the hardness of their heart, and they have walked in their own counsels.
81:14Oh that my people had listened to me,and Israel had walked in my ways.
81:15I would soon have humbled their enemies, and turned my hand against their adversaries.
81:16The haters of YHWH should have been subject to him,and their time should have endured forever.
81:17And God would have fed them with the fat of wheat, and with honey out of the rock would I have sufficed you.
Chapter 82
82:1A Psalm committed to Asaph. Elohim stands in the assembly of gods:he judges among gods.
82:2How long will you judge unjustly, and accept the persons of the wicked? Selah.
82:3Do right to the poor and fatherless:do justice to the poor and needy.
82:4Deliver the poor and needy:save them from the hand of the wicked.
82:5They know not and understand nothing:they walk in darkness, although all the foundations of the earth be moved.
82:6I have said, You are gods, and you all are children of the most High.
82:7But you shall die as a man,and the princes, shall fall like others.
82:8O Elohim, arise, therefore judge the earth:for you shall inherit all nations.
Chapter 83
83:1A song, or Psalm committed to Asaph.
83:2Keep not you silence, O Elohim: be not still, and cease not, O El.
83:3For lo, your enemies make a tumult:and they that hate you, have lifted up the head.
83:4They have taken crafty counsel against your people, and have consulted against your secret ones.
83:5They have said, Come and let us cut them off from being a nation:and let the name of Israel be no more in remembrance.
83:6For they have consulted together in heart, and have cut a covenant against you:
83:7The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites, Moab and the Agarims:
83:8Gebal and Ammon, and Amalek, the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyrus:
83:9Asshur also is joined with them:they have been an arm to the children of Lot. Selah.
83:10Do you to them as to the Midianites:as to Sisera and as to Jabin at the river of Kishon.
83:11They perished at En-dor,and were dung for the earth.
83:12Make them, even their princes like Oreb and like Zeeb:yes, all their princes like Zebah and like Zalmunna.
83:13Which have said, Let us take for our possession the habitations of Elohim.
83:14O my Elohim, make them like to a wheel, and as the stubble before the wind.
83:15As the fire burns the forest, and as the flame sets the mountains on fire:
83:16So persecute them with your tempest, and make them afraid with your storm.
83:17Fill their faces with shame, that they may seek Your Name, O YHWH.
83:18Let them be confounded and troubled forever:yes, let them be put to shame and perish,
83:19That they may know that you, which are called YHWH, are alone, even the most High over all the earth.
Chapter 84
84:1To him that excels upon Gittith. A Psalm committed to the sons of Korah.
84:2O YHWH of hosts, how amiable are Your Tabernacles!
84:3My nephesh longs, yes,and faints for the courts of YHWH:for my heart and my flesh rejoice in the living El.
84:4Yes, the sparrow has found her a house, and the swallow a nest for her, where she may lay her young:even by Your altars, O YHWH of hosts, my King and my Elohim.
84:5Blessed are they that dwell in your house:they will ever praise you. Selah.
84:6Blessed is the man, whose strength is in you,and in whose heart are your ways.
84:7They going through the vale of Baca, make wells in it: the rain also covers the pools.
84:8They go from strength to strength, till every one appear before Elohim in Zion.
84:9O YHWH Elohim of hosts, hear my prayer:listen, O Elohim of Jacob. Selah.
84:10Behold, O Elohim, our shield, and look upon the face of your Anointed.
84:11For a day in your courts is better than a thousand other where:I had rather be a door keeper in the House of my Elohim, than to dwell in the Tabernacles of wickedness.
84:12For YHWH Elohim is the sun and shield to us:YHWH will give grace and glory, and no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.
84:13O YHWH of hosts, blessed is the man that trusts in You.
Chapter 85
85:1To him that excels. A Psalm committed to the sons of Korah.
85:2YHWH, you have been favorable to your land: you have brought again the captivity of Jacob.
85:3You have forgiven the iniquity of your people, and covered all their sins. Selah.
85:4You have withdrawn all your anger, and have turned back from the fierceness of your wrath.
85:5Turn us, O Elohim of our salvation, and release your anger toward us.
85:6Will you be angry with us forever? And will you prolong your wrath from one generation to another?
85:7Will you not turn again and quicken us,that your people may rejoice in you?
85:8Show us Your chesed, O YHWH,and grant us your salvation.
85:9I will listen what YHWH El will say:for he will speak peace to his people, and to his Saints, that they turn not again to folly.
85:10Surely his salvation is near to them that fear him, that glory may dwell in our land.
85:11Chesed and truth shall meet:righteousness and peace shall kiss one another.
85:12Truth shall bud out of the earth, and righteousness shall look down from heaven.
85:13Yes, YHWH shall give good things, and our land shall give her increase.
85:14Righteousness shall go before him,and shall set her steps in the way.
Chapter 86
86:1A prayer of David. Incline Your ear, O YHWH,and hear me:for I am poor and needy.
86:2Preserve you my nephesh, for I am merciful:my Elohim, save you your servant, that trusts in you.
86:3Be gracious to me, O Adonai:for I cry upon you continually.
86:4Rejoice the nephesh of your servant:for to you, O Adonai, do I lift up my nephesh.
86:5For you, Adonai, are good and merciful, and of great chesed to all them, that call upon you.
86:6Give ear, YHWH, to my prayer, and listen to the voice of my supplication.
86:7In the day of my trouble I will call upon you:for you hear me.
86:8Among the gods of it is none like you, O Adonai, and there is none that can do like your works.
86:9All nations, whom you have made, shall come and worship before you, O Adonai, and shall glorify your Name.
86:10For you are great and do wondrous things:you are Elohim alone.
86:11Teach me Your way, O YHWH,and I will walk in your truth:knit my heart to you, that I may fear your Name.
86:12I will praise you, O Adonai my Elohim, with all my heart:yes, I will glorify your Name forever.
86:13For great is your chesed toward me,and you have delivered my nephesh from the lowest Sheol.
86:14O Elohim, the proud are risen against me,and the assemblies of violent men have sought my nephesh, and have not set you before them.
86:15But You, O Adonai, are a merciful and gracious El, slow to anger and great in chesed and truth.
86:16Turn to me,and be gracious to me:give your strength to your servant, and save the son of your handmaid.
86:17Show a token of your goodness toward me,that they who hate me, may see it,and be ashamed, because You, O YHWH, have helped me and comforted me.
Chapter 87
87:1A Psalm or song committed to the sons of Korah. God laid his foundations among the holy mountains.
87:2YHWH loves the gates of Zion above all the habitations of Jacob.
87:3Glorious things are spoken of you, O city of Elohim. Selah.
87:4I will make mention of Rahab and Babel among them that know me:behold Palestina and Tyrus with Ethiopia, There is he born.
87:5And of Zion it shall be said, Many are born in her:and he, even the most High shall establish her.
87:6YHWH shall count, when he writes the people, He was born there. Selah.
87:7As well the singers as the players on instruments shall praise you:all my springs are in you.
Chapter 88
88:1A song or Psalm of Heman the Ezrahite to give instruction, committed to the sons of Korah for him that excels upon Mahalath Leannoth.
88:2O YHWH Elohim of my salvation, I cry day and night before You.
88:3Let my prayer enter into your presence:incline your ear to my cry.
88:4For my nephesh is filled with evils, and my life draws near to Sheol.
88:5I am counted among them that go down to the pit,and am as a man without strength:
88:6Free among the dead, like the slain lying in the grave, whom you remember no more, and they are cut off from your hand.
88:7You have laid me in the lowest pit, in darkness, and in the deep.
88:8Your indignation lies upon me,and you have vexed me with all your waves. Selah.
88:9You have put away my acquaintance far from me,and made me to be abhorred of them:I am shut up,and cannot get forth.
88:10My eye is sorrowful through my affliction:YHWH, I call daily upon you:I stretch out my hands to you.
88:11Will you show a miracle to the dead? Or shall the dead rise and praise you? Selah.
88:12Shall your chesed be declared in the grave? Or your faithfulness in destruction?
88:13Shall your wonders works be known in the dark? And your righteousness in the land of oblivion?
88:14But to You have I cried, O YHWH,and early shall my prayer come before you.
88:15YHWH, why do you reject my nephesh, and hide your face from me?
88:16I am afflicted and at the point of death:from my youth I suffer your terrors, doubting of my life.
88:17Your indignations go over me,and your fear has cut me off.
88:18They came round about me daily like water, and compassed me together.
88:19My lovers and friends have you put away from me,and my acquaintance hid themselves.
Chapter 89
89:1A Psalm to give instruction, of Ethan the Ezrahite.
89:2I will sing the chesed of YHWH forever: with my mouth will I declare your truth from generation to generation.
89:3For I said, Chesed shall be set up forever:your truth shall you establish in the very heavens.
89:4I have made a covenant with my chosen:I have sworn to David my servant,
89:5Your seed will I establish forever, and set up your throne from generation to generation. Selah.
89:6O YHWH, even the heavens shall praise Your wonders work:yes, your truth in the Congregation of the Saints.
89:7For who is equal to YHWH in the heaven? And who is like YHWH among the sons of the gods?
89:8El is very terrible in the assembly of the Saints, and to be reverenced above all, that are about him.
89:9O YHWH Elohim of hosts, who is like to You, which are a mighty Lord, and your truth is about you?
89:10You rule the raging of the sea: when the waves of it arise, you still them.
89:11You have beaten down Rahab as a man slain:you have scattered your enemies with your mighty arm.
89:12The heavens are yours, the earth also is yours: you have laid the foundation of the world, and all that in it is.
89:13You have created the North and the South:Tabor and Hermon shall rejoice in your Name.
89:14You have a mighty arm:strong is your hand, and high is your right hand.
89:15Righteousness and equity are the stablishment of your throne:chesed and truth go before your face.
89:16Blessed is the people, that can rejoice in you:they shall walk in the light of Your countenance, O YHWH.
89:17They shall rejoice continually in your Name, and in your righteousness shall they exalt themselves.
89:18For you are the glory of their strength, and by your favor our horns shall be exalted.
89:19For our shield appertains to YHWH,and our King to the Holy One of Israel.
89:20You spoke then in a vision to your Holy one,and said, I have laid help upon one that is mighty:I have exalted one chosen out of the people.
89:21I have found David my servant:with my holy oil have I anointed him.
89:22Therefore my hand shall be established with him,and my arm shall strengthen him.
89:23The enemy shall not oppress him, neither shall the wicked hurt him.
89:24But I will destroy his foes before his face, and plague them that hate him.
89:25My truth also and my chesed shall be with him,and in my Name shall his horn be exalted.
89:26I will set his hand also in the sea,and his right hand in the floods.
89:27He shall cry to me, You are my Father, my El and the rock of my salvation.
89:28Also I will make him my firstborn, higher than the Kings of the earth.
89:29My chesed will I keep for him for evermore, and my covenant shall stand fast with him.
89:30His seed also will I make to endure forever, and his throne as the days of heaven.
89:31But if his children forsake my Law,and walk not in my judgments:
89:32If they break my statutes, and keep not my commandments:
89:33Then will I visit their transgression with the rod,and their iniquity with strokes.
89:34Yet my chesed will I not take from him, neither will I falsify my truth.
89:35My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.
89:36I have sworn once by my holiness, that I will not fail David, saying,
89:37His seed shall endure forever, and his throne shall be as the sun before me.
89:38He shall be established for evermore as the moon, and as a faithful witness in the heaven. Selah.
89:39But you have rejected and abhorred, you have been angry with your Anointed.
89:40You have broken the covenant of your servant, and profaned his crown, casting it on the ground.
89:41You have broken down all his walls:you have laid his fortresses in ruin.
89:42All that go by the way, spoil him:he is a rebuke to his neighbors.
89:43You have set up the right hand of his enemies, and made all his adversaries to rejoice.
89:44You have also turned the edge of his sword, and have not made him to stand in the battle.
89:45You have caused his dignity to decay, and cast his throne to the ground.
89:46The days of his youth have you shortened, and covered him with shame. Selah.
89:47YHWH, how long will you hide yourself, forever? Shall your wrath burn like fire?
89:48Remember of what time I am:why should you create in vain all the children of men?
89:49What man lives, and shall not see death? Shall he deliver his nephesh from the hand of Sheol? Selah.
89:50Adonai, where are your former chesed, which you swore to David in your truth?
89:51Remember, O Adonai, the rebuke of your servants, who I bear in my bosom of all the mighty people.
89:52For Your enemies have reproached You, O YHWH, because they have reproached the footsteps of Your Anointed.
89:53Praised be YHWH for evermore. So be it, even so be it.
Chapter 90
90:1A prayer of Moses, the man of Elohim. Adonai, you have been our habitation from generation to generation.
90:2Before the mountains were made, and before you had formed the earth, and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting you are our El.
90:3You turn man to destruction:again you say, Return, the sons of Adam.
90:4For a thousand years in your sight are as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.
90:5You have overflowed them:they are as a sleep:in the morning he grows like the grass:
90:6In the morning it flourishes and grows, but in the evening it is cut down and withers.
90:7For we are consumed by your anger, and by your wrath are we troubled.
90:8You have set our iniquities before you,and our secret sins in the light of your countenance.
90:9For all our days are past in your anger:we have spent our years as a thought.
90:10The time of our life is threescore years and ten,and if they be of strength, fourscore years:yet their strength is but labor and sorrow:for it is cut off quickly, and we flee away.
90:11Who knows the power of your wrath? For according to your fear is your anger.
90:12Teach us so to number our days, that we may apply our hearts to wisdom.
90:13Return (O YHWH, how long?) and be pacified toward Your servants.
90:14Fill us with your chesed in the morning:so shall we rejoice and be glad all our days.
90:15Comfort us according to the days that you have afflicted us,and according to the years that we have seen evil.
90:16Let your work be seen toward your servants, and your glory upon their children.
90:17And let the beauty of Adonai our Elohim be upon us,and direct you the work of our hands upon us, even direct the work of our hands.
Chapter 91
91:1Who so dwells in the secret of the most High, shall abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
91:2I will say to YHWH, O my hope, and my fortress:he is my Elohim, in him will I trust.
91:3Surely he will deliver you from the snare of the hunter, and from the destructive pestilence.
91:4He will cover you under his wings, and you shall be sure under his feathers:his truth shall be your shield and buckler.
91:5You shall not be afraid of the fear of the night, nor of the arrow that flies by day:
91:6Nor of the pestilence that walks in the darkness:nor of the plague that destroys at noon day.
91:7A thousand shall fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand, but it shall not come near you.
91:8Doubtless with your eyes shall you behold and see the reward of the wicked.
91:9For you have said, YHWH is my hope:you have set the most High for your refuge.
91:10There shall none evil come to you, neither shall any plague come near your tabernacle.
91:11For he shall give his Angels charge over you to keep you in all your ways.
91:12They shall bear you in their hands, that you hurt not your foot against a stone.
91:13You shall walk upon the lion and asp:the young lion and the dragon shall you tread under feet.
91:14Because he has loved me,therefore will I deliver him:I will exalt him because he has known my Name.
91:15He shall call upon me,and I will hear him:I will be with him in trouble:I will deliver him,and glorify him.
91:16With long life will I satisfy him,and show him my salvation.
Chapter 92
92:1A Psalm or song for the Sabbath day.
92:2It is a good thing to praise YHWH, and to sing to your Name, O most High,
92:3To declare your chesed in the morning, and your truth in the night,
92:4Upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the lyre with the song upon the harp.
92:5For you, YHWH, have made me glad by your works, and I will rejoice in the works of your hands.
92:6O YHWH, how glorious are Your works! And Your thoughts are very deep.
92:7An unwise man knows it not,and a fool does not understand this,
92:8(When the wicked grow as the grass, and all the workers of wickedness do flourish) that they shall be destroyed forever.
92:9But You, O YHWH, are most High for evermore.
92:10For lo, Your enemies, O YHWH:for lo, your enemies shall perish:all the workers of iniquity shall be destroyed.
92:11But you shall exalt my horn, like the wild ox,and I shall be anointed with fresh oil.
92:12My eye also shall see my desire against my enemies:and my ears shall hear my wish against the wicked, that rise up against me.
92:13The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree, and shall grow like a Cedar in Lebanon.
92:14Such as be planted in the house of YHWH, shall flourish in the courts of our Elohim.
92:15They shall still bring forth fruit in their age:they shall be fat and flourishing,
92:16To declare that YHWH my rock is righteous, and that none iniquity is in him.
Chapter 93
93:1YHWH reigns, and is clothed with majesty:YHWH is clothed, and girded with power:the world also shall be established, that it cannot be moved.
93:2Your throne is established of old:you are from everlasting.
93:3The floods have lifted up, O YHWH:the floods have lifted up their voice:the floods lift up their waves.
93:4The waves of the sea are marvelous through the noise of many waters, yet YHWH on High is more mighty.
93:5Your testimonies are very sure:holiness becomes Your House, O YHWH, forever.
Chapter 94
94:1O YHWH God the avenger, O El the avenger, show yourself clearly.
94:2Exalt yourself, O Judge of the world, and render a reward to the proud.
94:3YHWH how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph?
94:4They prate and speak fiercely:all the workers of iniquity vaunt themselves.
94:5They smite down Your people, O YHWH,and trouble your heritage.
94:6They slay the widow and the stranger, and murder the fatherless.
94:7Yet they say, The Lord shall not see:neither will the Elohim of Jacob regard it.
94:8Understand you unwise among the people:and you fools, when will you be wise?
94:9He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? Or he that formed the eye, shall he not see?
94:10Or he that chastises the nations, shall he not correct? He that teaches man knowledge, shall he not know?
94:11YHWH knows the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.
94:12Blessed is the man, whom you chastise, O Lord, and teach him in your Law,
94:13That you may give him rest from the days of evil, while the pit is digged for the wicked.
94:14Surely YHWH will not fail his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance.
94:15For judgment shall return to justice, and all the upright in heart shall follow after it.
94:16Who will rise up with me against the wicked? Or who will take my part against the workers of iniquity?
94:17If YHWH had not helped me, my nephesh had almost dwelt in silence.
94:18When I said, My foot slides, Your chesed, O YHWH, stayed me.
94:19In the multitude of my thoughts in my heart, your comforts have rejoiced my nephesh.
94:20Has the throne of iniquity fellowship with you, which forges wrong for a Law?
94:21They gather them together against the nephesh of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood.
94:22But YHWH is my refuge, and my Elohim is the rock of my hope.
94:23And he will recompense them their wickedness, and destroy them in their own malice:yes, YHWH our Elohim shall destroy them.
Chapter 95
95:1Come, let us rejoice to YHWH:let us sing aloud to the rock of our salvation.
95:2Let us come before his face with praise:let us sing loud to him with Psalms.
95:3For YHWH is a great Elohim, and a great King above all gods.
95:4In whose hand are the deep places of the earth, and the heights of the mountains are his:
95:5To whom the Sea belongs:for he made it,and his hands formed the dry land.
95:6Come, let us worship and fall down, and kneel before YHWH our maker.
95:7For he is our Elohim, and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand:today, if you will hear his voice,
95:8Harden not your heart, as in Meribah, and as in the day of Massah in the wilderness.
95:9Where your fathers tempted me, proved me, though they had seen my work.
95:10Forty years have I contended with this generation, and said, They are a people that err in heart, for they have not known my ways.
95:11Therefore I swore in my wrath, saying, Surely they shall not enter into my rest.
Chapter 96
96:1Sing to YHWH a new song:sing to YHWH, all the earth.
96:2Sing to YHWH,and praise his Name:declare his salvation from day to day.
96:3Declare his glory among all nations, and his wonders among all people.
96:4For YHWH is great and much to be praised:he is to be feared above all gods.
96:5For all the gods of the people are idols:but YHWH made the heavens.
96:6Strength and glory are before him:power and beauty are in his Sanctuary.
96:7Give to YHWH, you families of the people:give to YHWH glory and power.
96:8Give to YHWH the glory of his Name:bring an offering, and enter into his courts.
96:9Worship YHWH in the glorious Sanctuary:tremble before him all the earth.
96:10Say among the nations, YHWH reigns:surely the world shall be stable, and not move, and he shall judge the people in righteousness.
96:11Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad: let the sea roar, and all that is in it.
96:12Let the field be joyful, and all that is in it:let all the trees of the wood then rejoice
96:13Before YHWH:for he comes, for he comes to judge the earth:he will judge the world with righteousness, and the people in his truth.
Chapter 97
97:1YHWH reigns:let the earth rejoice:let the multitude of the isles be glad.
97:2Clouds and darkness are round about him:righteousness and judgment are the foundation of his throne.
97:3There shall go a fire before him,and burn up his enemies round about.
97:4His lightnings gave light to the world:the earth saw it and was afraid.
97:5The mountains melted like wax at the presence of YHWH, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.
97:6The heavens declare his righteousness, and all the people see his glory.
97:7Confounded be all they that serve graven images, and that glory in idols:worship him all you gods.
97:8Zion heard of it,and was glad:and the daughters of Judah rejoiced, because of Your judgments, O YHWH.
97:9For you, YHWH, are most High above all the earth:you are much exalted above all gods.
97:10You that love YHWH, hate evil:he preserves the nepheshes of his Saints:he will deliver them from the hand of the wicked.
97:11Light is sown for the righteous, and joy for the upright in heart.
97:12Rejoice the righteous in YHWH,and give thanks for his holy remembrance.
Chapter 98
98:1A Psalm. Sing to YHWH a new song:for he has done marvelous things:his right hand, and his holy arm have gotten him the victory.
98:2YHWH declared his salvation:his righteousness has he revealed in the sight of the nations.
98:3He has remembered his chesed and his truth toward the house of Israel:all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our Elohim.
98:4All the earth, sing you loud to YHWH:cry out and rejoice, and sing praises.
98:5Sing praise to YHWH upon the harp, even upon the harp with a singing voice.
98:6With shalmes and sound of trumpets sing loud before YHWH the King.
98:7Let the sea roar, and all that is in it, the world, and they that dwell in it.
98:8Let the floods clap their hands, and let the mountains rejoice together
98:9Before YHWH:for he is come to judge the earth:with righteousness shall he judge the world, and the people with equity.
Chapter 99
99:1YHWH reigns, let the people tremble:he sits between the Cherubim, let the earth be moved.
99:2YHWH is great in Zion, and he is high above all the people.
99:3They shall praise your great and fearful Name (for it is holy)
99:4And the Kings power, that loves judgment:for you have prepared equity:you have executed judgment and justice in Jacob.
99:5Exalt YHWH our Elohim, and fall down before his footstool:for he is holy.
99:6Moses and Aaron were among his Priests, and Samuel among such as call upon his Name:these called upon YHWH,and he heard them.
99:7He spoke to them in the cloudy pillar:they kept his testimonies, and the Law that he gave them.
99:8You heard them, O YHWH our Elohim:you were a favorable El to them, though you did take vengeance for their inventions.
99:9Exalt YHWH our Elohim, and fall down before his holy Mountain:for YHWH our Elohim is holy.
Chapter 100
100:1A Psalm of Praise. Sing you loud to YHWH, all the earth.
100:2Serve YHWH with gladness:come before him with joyfulness.
100:3Know you that even YHWH is Elohim:he has made us,and not we ourselves:we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
100:4Enter into his gates with praise, and into his courts with rejoicing:praise him and bless his Name.
100:5For YHWH is good:his chesed is everlasting, and his truth is from generation to generation.
Chapter 101
101:1A Psalm of David. I will sing chesed and judgment:to You, O YHWH, will I sing.
101:2I will do wisely in the perfect way, till you come to me:I will walk in the uprightness of my heart in the midst of my house.
101:3I will set no wicked thing before my eyes:I hate the work of them that fall away:it shall not cleave to me.
101:4A perverse heart shall depart from me:I will know none evil.
101:5Him that secretly slanders his neighbor, will I destroy:him that has a proud look and high heart, I cannot suffer.
101:6My eyes shall be to the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me:he that walks in a perfect way, he shall serve me.
101:7There shall no deceitful person dwell within my house:he that tells lies, shall not remain in my sight.
101:8Morning by morning will I destroy all the wicked of the land, that I may cut off all the workers of iniquity from the City of YHWH.
Chapter 102
102:1A prayer of the afflicted, when he shall be in distress, and pour forth his meditation before YHWH.
102:2O YHWH, hear my prayer, and let my cry come to you.
102:3Hide not your face from me in the time of my trouble:incline your ears to me:when I call, make haste to hear me.
102:4For my days are consumed like smoke, and my bones are burnt like a hearth.
102:5My heart is smitten and withers like grass, because I forgot to eat my bread.
102:6For the voice of my groaning my bones do cleave to my skin.
102:7I am like a pelican of the wilderness:I am like an owl of the deserts.
102:8I watch and am as a sparrow alone upon the house top.
102:9My enemies revile me daily, and they that rage against me, have sworn against me.
102:10Surely I have eaten ashes as bread, and mingled my drink with weeping,
102:11Because of your indignation and your wrath:for you have heaved me up,and cast me down.
102:12My days are like a shadow that fades, and I am withered like grass.
102:13But You, O YHWH, do remain forever, and your remembrance from generation to generation.
102:14You will arise and be gracious to Zion:for the time to be gracious to it,for the appointed time is come.
102:15For your servants delight in the stones of it, and have pity on the dust of it.
102:16Then the heathen shall fear the Name of YHWH,and all the Kings of the earth your glory,
102:17When YHWH shall build up Zion, and shall appear in his glory,
102:18And shall turn to the prayer of the desolate, and not despise their prayer.
102:19This shall be written for the generation to come:and the people, who shall be created, shall praise the Lord.
102:20For he has looked down from the height of his Sanctuary:out of the heaven did YHWH behold the earth,
102:21That he might hear the mourning of the prisoner, and deliver the children of death:
102:22That they may declare the Name of YHWH in Zion, and his praise in Jerusalem,
102:23When the people shall be gathered together, and the kingdoms to serve YHWH.
102:24He abated my strength in the way,and shortened my days.
102:25And I said, O my El, take me not away in the midst of my days:your years endure from generation to generation.
102:26You have formerly laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands.
102:27They shall perish, but you shall endure:even they all shall grow old as does a garment:as a vesture shall you change them, and they shall be changed.
102:28But you are the same, and your years shall not fail.
102:29The children of your servants shall continue, and their seed shall stand fast in your sight.
Chapter 103
103:1A Psalm of David. My nephesh, praise YHWH,and all that is within me, praise his holy Name.
103:2My nephesh, praise YHWH,and forget not all his benefits.
103:3Which forgives all your iniquity, and heals all your infirmities.
103:4Which redeems your life from the grave, and crowns you with chesed and compassions.
103:5Which satisfies your mouth with good things:and your youth is renewed like the eagles.
103:6YHWH executes righteousness and judgment to all that are oppressed.
103:7He made his ways known to Moses, and his works to the children of Israel.
103:8YHWH is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and of great chesed.
103:9He will not always chide, neither keep his anger forever.
103:10He has not dealt with us after our sins, nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.
103:11For as high as the heaven is above the earth, so great is his chesed toward them that fear him.
103:12As far as the East is from the West:so far has he removed our sins from us.
103:13As a father has compassion on his children, so has YHWH compassion on them that fear him.
103:14For he knows our frame: he remembers that we are but dust.
103:15The days of man are as grass:as a flower of the field, so flourishes he.
103:16For the wind goes over it, and it is gone, and the place of it shall know it no more.
103:17But the chesed of YHWH endures forever and ever upon them that fear him,and his righteousness upon children's children,
103:18To them that keep his covenant, and think upon his commandments to do them.
103:19YHWH has prepared his throne in heaven, and his Kingdom rules over all.
103:20Praise YHWH, you his Angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandment in obeying the voice of his word.
103:21Praise YHWH, all you his hosts, you his servants that do his pleasure.
103:22Praise YHWH, all you his works, in all places of his dominion:my nephesh, praise YHWH.
Chapter 104
104:1My nephesh, praise YHWH:O YHWH my Elohim, You are exceeding great, You are clothed with glory and honor.
104:2Which covers himself with light as with a garment, and spreads the heavens like a curtain.
104:3Which lays the beams of his chambers in the waters, and makes the clouds his chariot, and walks upon the wings of the wind.
104:4Which makes his spirits his messengers, and a flaming fire his ministers.
104:5He set the earth upon her foundations, so that it shall never move.
104:6You covered it with the deep as with a garment:the waters would stand above the mountains.
104:7But at your rebuke they flee:at the voice of your thunder they haste away.
104:8And the mountains ascend, and the valleys descend to the place which you have established for them.
104:9But you have set them a bound, which they shall not pass:they shall not return to cover the earth.
104:10He sends the springs into the valleys, which run between the mountains.
104:11They shall give drink to all the beasts of the field, and the wild donkeys shall quench their thirst.
104:12By these springs shall the fowls of the heaven dwell, and sing among the branches.
104:13He waters the mountains from his chambers, and the earth is filled with the fruit of your works.
104:14He causes grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the use of man, that he may bring forth bread out of the earth,
104:15And wine that makes glad the heart of man,and oil to make the face to shine, and bread that strengthens man's heart.
104:16The high trees are satisfied, even the cedars of Lebanon, which he has planted,
104:17That the birds may make their nests there:the stork dwells in the fir trees.
104:18The high mountains are for the goats:the rocks are a refuge for the rock hyraxes.
104:19He appointed the moon for certain seasons:the sun knows his going down.
104:20You make darkness, and it is night, in which all the beasts of the forest creep forth.
104:21The lions roar after their prey, and seek their meat at El.
104:22When the sun rises, they retire, and couch in their dens.
104:23Then goes man forth to his work, and to his labor until the evening.
104:24O YHWH, how manifold are Your works! In wisdom have You made them all:the earth is full of your riches.
104:25So is this sea great and wide: for in it are things creeping innumerable, both small beasts and great.
104:26There go the ships, yes, that Leviathan, whom you have made to play in it.
104:27All these wait upon you, that you may give them food in due season.
104:28You give it to them, and they gather it:you open your hand, and they are filled with good things.
104:29But if you hide your face, they are troubled:if you take away their breath, they die and return to their dust.
104:30Again if you send forth Your Spirit, they are created, and you renew the face of the earth.
104:31Glory be to YHWH forever:let YHWH rejoice in his works.
104:32He looks on the earth and it trembles:he touches the mountains, and they smoke.
104:33I will sing to YHWH all my life:I will praise my Elohim, while I live.
104:34Let my words be acceptable to him:I will rejoice in YHWH.
104:35Let the sinners be consumed out of the earth, and the wicked till there be no more:O my nephesh, praise YHWH. Praise you the Lord.
Chapter 105
105:1Praise YHWH,and call upon his Name:declare his works among the people.
105:2Sing to him, sing praise to him,and talk of all his wondrous works.
105:3Rejoice in his holy Name:let the heart of them that seek YHWH, rejoice.
105:4Seek YHWH and his strength:seek his face continually.
105:5Remember his marvelous works, that he has done, his wonders and the judgments of his mouth,
105:6The seed of Abraham his servant, the children of Jacob, which are his elect.
105:7He is YHWH our Elohim:his judgments are through all the earth.
105:8He has always remembered his covenant and promise, that he made to a thousand generations,
105:9Even that which he made with Abraham, and his oath to Isaac:
105:10And since has confirmed it to Jacob for a law,and to Israel for an everlasting covenant,
105:11Saying, To you will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance.
105:12Although they were few in number, yes, very few,and strangers in the land,
105:13And walked about from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another people,
105:14Yet suffered he no man to do them wrong, but reproved Kings for their sakes, saying,
105:15Touch not my anointed, and do my Prophets no harm.
105:16Moreover, he called a famine upon the land, and utterly broke the staff of bread.
105:17But he sent a man before them:Joseph was sold for a slave.
105:18They held his feet in the stocks, and he was laid in irons,
105:19Until his appointed time came, and the counsel of YHWH had tried him.
105:20The King sent and loosed him:even the Ruler of the people delivered him.
105:21He made him lord of his house, and ruler of all his substance,
105:22That he should bind his princes to his nephesh, and teach his Ancients wisdom.
105:23Then Israel came to Egypt, and Jacob was a stranger in the land of Ham.
105:24And he increased his people exceedingly, and made them stronger than their oppressors.
105:25He turned their heart to hate his people, and to deal craftily with his servants.
105:26Then sent he Moses his servant, and Aaron whom he had chosen.
105:27They showed among them the message of his signs, and wonders in the land of Ham.
105:28He sent darkness, and made it dark:and they were not disobedient to his commission.
105:29He turned their waters into blood, and slew their fish.
105:30Their land brought forth frogs, even in their Kings chambers.
105:31He spoke, and there came swarms of flies and lice in all their quarters.
105:32He gave them hail for rain, and flames of fire in their land.
105:33He smote their vines also and their fig trees, and broke down the trees in their coasts.
105:34He spoke,and the grasshoppers came,and caterpillars innumerable,
105:35And did eat up all the grass in their land, and devoured the fruit of their ground.
105:36He smote also all the firstborn in their land, even the beginning of all their strength.
105:37He brought them forth also with silver and gold, and there was none feeble among their tribes.
105:38Egypt was glad at their departing:for the fear of them had fallen upon them.
105:39He spread a cloud to be a covering, and fire to give light in the night.
105:40They asked, and he brought quail, and he filled them with the bread of heaven.
105:41He opened the rock, and the waters flowed out,and ran in the dry places like a river.
105:42For he remembered his holy promise to Abraham his servant,
105:43And he brought forth his people with joy,and his chosen with gladness,
105:44And gave them the lands of the heathen, and they took the labors of the people in possession,
105:45That they might keep his statutes, and observe his Laws. Praise you the Lord.
Chapter 106
106:1Praise YHWH. Praise you the Lord because he is good, for his chesed endures forever.
106:2Who can express the noble acts of YHWH, or show forth all his praise?
106:3Blessed are they that keep judgment, and do righteousness at all times.
106:4Remember me, O YHWH, with the favor of Your people:visit me with your salvation,
106:5That I may see the felicity of your chosen, and rejoice in the joy of your people, and glory with your inheritance.
106:6We have sinned with our fathers:we have committed iniquity, and done wickedly.
106:7Our fathers understood not your wonders in Egypt, neither remembered they the multitude of your chesed, but rebelled at the Sea, even at the red sea.
106:8Nevertheless he saved them for his Name's sake, that he might make his power to be known.
106:9And he rebuked the red Sea,and it was dried up,and he led them in the deep, as in the wilderness.
106:10And he saved them from the adversaries hand, and delivered them from the hand of the enemy.
106:11And the waters covered their oppressors:not one of them was left.
106:12Then believed they his words, and sang praise to him.
106:13But incontinently they forgot his works:they waited not for his counsel,
106:14But lusted with craving in the wilderness, and tempted El in the desert.
106:15Then he gave them their desire:but he sent leanness into their nephesh.
106:16They envied Moses also in the tents, and Aaron the holy one of YHWH.
106:17Therefore the earth opened and swallowed up Dathan, and covered the company of Abiram.
106:18And the fire was kindled in their assembly:the flame burnt up the wicked.
106:19They made a calf in Horeb, and worshiped the molten image.
106:20Thus they turned their glory into the similitude of a bullock, that eats grass.
106:21They forgot El their Savior, which had done great things in Egypt,
106:22Wondrous works in the land of Ham,and fearful things by the red Sea.
106:23Therefore he minded to destroy them, had not Moses his chosen stand in the breach before him to turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy them.
106:24Also they contemned that pleasant land, and believed not his word,
106:25But murmured in their tents, and did not listen to the voice of YHWH.
106:26Therefore he lifted up his hand against them, to destroy them in the wilderness,
106:27And to destroy their seed among the nations, and to scatter them throughout the countries.
106:28They joined themselves also to Baalpeor, and did eat the offerings of the dead.
106:29Thus they provoked him to anger with their own inventions, and the plague broke in upon them.
106:30But Phinehas stood up,and executed judgment, and the plague was stayed.
106:31And it was imputed to him for righteousness from generation to generation forever.
106:32They angered him also at the waters of Meribah, so that Moses was punished for their sakes,
106:33Because they vexed his spirit, so that he spoke rashly with his lips.
106:34Neither destroyed they the people, as YHWH had commanded them,
106:35But were mingled among the heathen, and learned their works,
106:36And served their idols, which were their ruin.
106:37Yes, they offered their sons, and their daughters to demons,
106:38And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons, and of their daughters, whom they offered to the idols of Canaan, and the land was defiled with blood.
106:39Thus were they stained with their own works, and went a whoring with their own inventions.
106:40Therefore was the wrath of YHWH kindled against his people, and he abhorred his own inheritance.
106:41And he gave them into the hand of the heathen:and they that hated them, were lords over them.
106:42Their enemies also oppressed them, and they were humbled under their hand.
106:43Many a time did he deliver them, but they provoked him by their counsels:therefore they were brought down by their iniquity.
106:44Yet he saw when they were in affliction, and he heard their cry.
106:45And he remembered his covenant toward them and repented according to the multitude of his chesed,
106:46And gave them compassion in the sight of all them that led them captives.
106:47Save us, O YHWH our Elohim, and gather us from among the heathen, that we may praise your holy Name, and glory in your praise.
106:48Blessed be YHWH Elohim of Israel forever and ever, and let all the people say, So be it. Praise you the Lord.
Chapter 107
107:1Praise YHWH, because he is good:for his chesed endures forever.
107:2Let them, which have been redeemed of YHWH, show how he has delivered them from the hand of the oppressor,
107:3And gathered them out of the lands, from the East and from the West, from the North and from the South.
107:4When they wandered in the desert and wilderness out of the way,and found no city to dwell in,
107:5Both hungry and thirsty, their nephesh fainted in them.
107:6Then they cried to YHWH in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress,
107:7And led them forth by the right way, that they might go to a city of habitation.
107:8Let them therefore confess before YHWH his chesed, and his wonderful works before the sons of men.
107:9For he satisfied the thirsty nephesh, and filled the hungry nephesh with goodness.
107:10They that dwell in darkness and in the shadow of death, being bound in misery and iron,
107:11Because they rebelled against the words of El,and despised the counsel of Elyon,
107:12When he humbled their heart with heaviness, then they fell down and there was no helper.
107:13Then they cried to YHWH in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress.
107:14He brought them out of darkness, and out of the shadow of death, and broke their bands asunder.
107:15Let them therefore confess before YHWH his chesed, and his wonderful works before the sons of men.
107:16For he has broken the gates of brass, and burst the bars of iron asunder.
107:17Fools by reason of their transgression, and because of their iniquities are afflicted.
107:18Their nephesh abhors all meat, and they are brought to deaths door.
107:19Then they cry to YHWH in their trouble, and he delivers them from their distress.
107:20He sends his word and heals them, and delivers them from their graves.
107:21Let them therefore confess before YHWH his chesed, and his wonderful works before the sons of men,
107:22And let them offer sacrifices of praise, and declare his works with rejoicing.
107:23They that go down to the sea in ships, and occupy by the great waters,
107:24They see the works of YHWH,and his wonders in the deep.
107:25For he commands and raises the stormy wind, and it lifts up the waves of it.
107:26They mount up to the heaven, and descend to the deep, so that their nephesh melts for trouble.
107:27They are tossed to and fro,and stagger like a drunken man,and all their cunning is gone.
107:28Then they cry to YHWH in their trouble, and he brings them out of their distress.
107:29He turns the storm to calm, so that the waves of it are still.
107:30When they are quieted, they are glad, and he brings them to the haven, where they would be.
107:31Let them therefore confess before YHWH his chesed, and his wonderful works before the sons of men.
107:32And let them exalt him in the Congregation of the people, and praise him in the assembly of the Elders.
107:33He turns the floods into a wilderness, and the springs of waters into dryness,
107:34And a fruitful land into barrenness for the wickedness of them that dwell in it.
107:35Again he turns the wilderness into pools of water, and the dry land into water springs.
107:36And there he places the hungry, and they build a city to dwell in,
107:37And sow the fields, and plant vineyards, which bring forth fruitful increase.
107:38For he blesses them, and they multiply exceedingly, and he diminishes not their cattle.
107:39Again men are diminished, and brought low by oppression, evil and sorrow.
107:40He pours contempt upon princes, and causes them to err in desert places out of the way.
107:41Yet he raises up the poor out of misery, and makes him families like a flock of sheep.
107:42The righteous shall see it,and rejoice, and all iniquity shall stop her mouth.
107:43Who is wise that he may observe these things? For they shall understand the chesed of YHWH.
Chapter 108
108:1A song or Psalm of David.
108:2O Elohim, my heart is prepared, so is my tongue: I will sing and give praise.
108:3Awake lyre and harp:I will awake early.
108:4I will praise You, O YHWH, among the people, and I will sing to you among the nations.
108:5For your chesed is great above the heavens, and your truth to the clouds.
108:6Exalt yourself, O Elohim, above the heavens, and let your glory be upon all the earth,
108:7That your beloved may be delivered:help with your right hand and hear me.
108:8Elohim has spoken in his holiness:therefore I will rejoice, I shall divide Shechem and measure the valley of Succoth.
108:9Gilead shall be mine, and Manasseh shall be mine:Ephraim also shall be the strength of my head:Judah is my lawgiver.
108:10Moab shall be my washpot:over Edom will I cast out my shoe:upon Palestina will I triumph.
108:11Who will lead me into the strong city? Who will bring me to Edom?
108:12Will not you, O Elohim, who had forsaken us,and did not go forth, O Elohim, with our armies?
108:13Give us help against trouble:for vain is the help of man.
108:14Through Elohim we shall do valiantly:for he shall tread down our enemies.
Chapter 109
109:1To him that excels. A Psalm of David. Hold not your tongue, O Elohim of my praise.
109:2For the mouth of the wicked, and the mouth full of deceit are opened upon me:they have spoken to me with a lying tongue.
109:3They compassed me about also with words of hatred, and fought against me without a cause.
109:4For my friendship they were my adversaries, but I gave myself to prayer.
109:5And they have rewarded me evil for good, and hatred for my friendship.
109:6Set the wicked over him,and let the adversary stand at his right hand.
109:7When he shall be judged, let him be condemned, and let his prayer be turned into sin.
109:8Let his days be few,and let another take his charge.
109:9Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow.
109:10Let his children be vagabonds and beg and seek bread, coming out of their places destroyed.
109:11Let the extortioner catch all that he has,and let the strangers spoil his labor.
109:12Let there be none to extend chesed to him:neither let there be any to show favor to his fatherless children.
109:13Let his posterity be destroyed, and in the generation following let their name be put out.
109:14Let the iniquity of his fathers be had in remembrance with YHWH:and let not the sin of his mother be done away.
109:15But let them always be before YHWH,that he may cut off their memorial from the earth.
109:16Because he remembered not to show chesed, but persecuted the afflicted and poor man,and the sorrowful hearted to slay him.
109:17As he loved cursing, so shall it come to him,and as he loved not blessing, so shall it be far from him.
109:18As he clothed himself with cursing like a clothing, so shall it come into his bowels like water, and like oil into his bones.
109:19Let it be to him as a garment to cover him, and as a belt, with what he shall always be girded.
109:20Let this be the reward of my adversary from YHWH,and of them, that speak evil against my nephesh.
109:21But You, O YHWH my God, deal with me according to Your Name:deliver me, (for your chesed is good)
109:22Because I am poor and needy, and my heart is wounded within me.
109:23I depart like the shadow that declines, and am shaken off as the grasshopper.
109:24My knees are weak through fasting, and my flesh has lost all fatness.
109:25I became also a rebuke to them:they that looked upon me, shook their heads.
109:26Help me, O YHWH my Elohim:save me according to your chesed.
109:27And they shall know, that this is your hand, and that you, YHWH, have done it.
109:28Though they curse, yet you will bless:they shall arise and be confounded, but your servant shall rejoice.
109:29Let my adversaries be clothed with shame, and let them cover themselves with their confusion, as with a cloak.
109:30I will give thanks to YHWH greatly with my mouth and praise him among the multitude.
109:31For he will stand at the right hand of the poor, to save him from them that would condemn his nephesh.
Chapter 110
110:1A Psalm of David. YHWH said to my Lord, Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool.
110:2YHWH shall send the rod of your power out of Zion:be you ruler in the midst of your enemies.
110:3Your people shall come willingly at the time of assembling your army in holy beauty:the youth of your womb shall be as the morning dew.
110:4YHWH swore and will not repent, You are a Priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.
110:5Adonai,that is at your right hand, shall wound Kings in the day of his wrath.
110:6He shall be judge among the heathen:he shall fill all with dead bodies, and smite the head over great countries.
110:7He shall drink of the brook in the way:therefore shall he lifted up his head.
Chapter 111
111:1Praise YHWH. I will praise the Lord with my whole heart in the assembly and Congregation of the just.
111:2The works of YHWH are great, and ought to be sought out of all them that love them.
111:3His work is beautiful and glorious, and his righteousness endures forever.
111:4He has made his wonderful works to be had in remembrance:YHWH is gracious and merciful.
111:5He has given a portion to them that fear him:he will ever be mindful of his covenant.
111:6He has showed to his people the power of his works in giving to them the heritage of the heathen.
111:7The works of his hands are truth and judgment:all his statutes are true.
111:8They are established forever and ever, and are done in truth and equity.
111:9He sent redemption to his people:he has commanded his covenant forever:holy and fearful is his Name.
111:10The beginning of wisdom is the fear of YHWH:all they that observe them, have good understanding:his praise endures forever.
Chapter 112
112:1Praise YHWH. Blessed is the man, that fears the Lord, and delights greatly in his commandments.
112:2His seed shall be mighty upon earth:the generation of the righteous shall be blessed.
112:3Riches and treasures shall be in his house, and his righteousness endures forever.
112:4To the righteous arises light in darkness:he is gracious and merciful and righteous.
112:5A good man is gracious and lends, and will measure his affairs by judgment.
112:6Surely he shall never be moved:but the righteous shall be had in everlasting remembrance.
112:7He will not be afraid of evil tidings:for his heart is fixed, and believes in YHWH.
112:8His heart is established:therefore he will not fear, until he see his desire upon his enemies.
112:9He has distributed and given to the poor:his righteousness remains forever:his horn shall be exalted with glory.
112:10The wicked shall see it and be angry:he shall gnash with his teeth, and consume away:the desire of the wicked shall perish.
Chapter 113
113:1Praise YHWH. Praise, O you servants of YHWH, praise the Name of the Lord.
113:2Blessed be the Name of YHWH from now on and forever.
113:3The YHWH's Name is praised from the rising of the sun, to the going down of the same.
113:4YHWH is high above all nations, and his glory above the heavens.
113:5Who is like to YHWH our Elohim, that has his dwelling on high!
113:6Who abases himself to behold things in the heaven and in the earth!
113:7He raises the needy out of the dust, and lifts up the poor out of the dung,
113:8That he may set him with the princes, even with the princes of his people.
113:9He makes the barren woman to dwell with a family, and a joyful mother of children. Praise you the Lord.
Chapter 114
114:1When Israel went out of Egypt, and the house of Jacob from the barbarous people,
114:2Judah was his sanctification, and Israel his dominion.
114:3The Sea saw it and fled:Jordan was turned back.
114:4The mountains leaped like rams, and the hills as lambs.
114:5What ailed you, O Sea,that you fled? O Jordan, why were you turned back?
114:6The mountains, why leaped you like rams, and you hills as lambs?
114:7The earth trembled at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob,
114:8Which turns the rock into waterpools, and the flint into a fountain of water.
Chapter 115
115:1Not to us, O YHWH, not to us,but to your Name give the glory, for your chesed and for your truth's sake.
115:2Why shall the heathen say, Where is now their Elohim?
115:3But our Elohim is in heaven:he does what so ever he will.
115:4Their idols are silver and gold, even the work of men's hands.
115:5They have a mouth and speak not:they have eyes and see not.
115:6They have ears and hear not:they have noses and smell not.
115:7They have hands and touch not:they have feet and walk not:neither make they a sound with their throat.
115:8They that make them are like to them:so are all that trust in them.
115:9O Israel, trust you in YHWH:for he is their help and their shield.
115:10O house of Aaron, trust you in YHWH:for he is their help and their shield.
115:11You that fear YHWH, trust in YHWH:for he is their helper and their shield.
115:12YHWH has been mindful of us:he will bless, he will bless the house of Israel, he will bless the house of Aaron.
115:13He will bless them that fear YHWH, both small and great.
115:14YHWH will increase his graces toward you, even toward you and toward your children.
115:15You are blessed of YHWH, who made the heaven and the earth.
115:16The heavens, even the heavens are YHWH's:but he has given the earth to the sons of men.
115:17The dead praise not the Lord, neither any that go down into the place of silence.
115:18But we will praise the Lord from now on and forever. Praise you the Lord.
Chapter 116
116:1I love YHWH, because he has heard my voice and my supplications.
116:2For he has inclined his ear to me, when I did call upon him in my days.
116:3When the snares of death compassed me,and the griefs of Sheol caught me:when I found trouble and sorrow.
116:4Then I called upon the Name of YHWH, saying, I ask You, O YHWH, deliver my nephesh.
116:5YHWH is gracious and righteous, and our Elohim has compassion.
116:6YHWH preserves the simple:I was in misery and he saved me.
116:7Return to your rest, O my nephesh:for YHWH has been beneficial to you,
116:8Because you have delivered my nephesh from death, my eyes from tears, and my feet from falling.
116:9I shall walk before YHWH in the land of the living.
116:10I believed,therefore did I speak:for I was sore troubled.
116:11I said in my fear, All men are liars.
116:12What shall I render to YHWH for all his benefits toward me?
116:13I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the Name of YHWH.
116:14I will pay my vows to YHWH, even now in the presence of all his people.
116:15Precious in the sight of YHWH is the death of his Saints.
116:16Behold, YHWH:for I am your servant, I am your servant, and the son of your handmaid:you have broken my bonds.
116:17I will offer to you a sacrifice of praise, and will call upon the Name of YHWH.
116:18I will pay my vows to YHWH, even now in the presence of all his people,
116:19In the courts of the Lord's house, even in the midst of you, O Jerusalem. Praise YHWH.
117:1All nations, praise YHWH:all the people, praise him.
117:2For his chesed is great toward us,and the truth of YHWH endures forever. Praise you the Lord.
Chapter 118
118:1Praise YHWH, because he is good:for his chesed endures forever.
118:2Let Israel now say,That his chesed endures forever.
118:3Let the house of Aaron now say,That his chesed endures forever.
118:4Let them, that fear YHWH, now say,That his chesed endures forever.
118:5I called upon the Lord in trouble, and the Lord heard me,and set me at large.
118:6YHWH is with me:therefore I will not fear what man can do to me.
118:7YHWH is with me among them that help me:therefore shall I see my desire upon my enemies.
118:8It is better to trust in YHWH, than to have confidence in man.
118:9It is better to trust in YHWH, than to have confidence in princes.
118:10All nations have compassed me:but in the Name of YHWH shall I destroy them.
118:11They have compassed me, yes, they have compassed me:but in the Name of YHWH I shall destroy them.
118:12They came about me like bees, but they were quenched as a fire of thorns:for in the Name of YHWH I shall destroy them.
118:13You have thrust sore at me,that I might fall:but YHWH has helped me.
118:14The Lord is my strength and song:for he has been my deliverance.
118:15The voice of joy and deliverance shall be in the tabernacles of the righteous, saying, The right hand of YHWH has done valiantly.
118:16The right hand of YHWH is exalted:the right hand of YHWH has done valiantly.
118:17I shall not die,but live, and declare the works of the Lord.
118:18The Lord has chastened me sore, but he has not delivered me to death.
118:19Open you to me the gates of righteousness, that I may go into them, and praise the Lord.
118:20This is the gate of YHWH:the righteous shall enter into it.
118:21I will praise you:for you have heard me,and have been my deliverance.
118:22The stone, which the builders refused, is the head of the corner.
118:23This was YHWH's doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes.
118:24This is the day, which YHWH has made:let us rejoice and be glad in it.
118:25O YHWH, I please, save now:O YHWH, I please now give prosperity.
118:26Blessed be he,that comes in the Name of YHWH:we have blessed you out of the house of YHWH.
118:27YHWH is mighty, and has given us light:bind the sacrifice with cords to the horns of the altar.
118:28You are my Elohim, and I will praise you, even my El:therefore I will exalt you.
118:29Praise YHWH, because he is good:for his chesed endures forever.
Chapter 119
119:1ALEPH. Blessed are those that are upright in their way,and walk in the Law of YHWH.
119:2Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and seek him with their whole heart.
119:3Surely they work none iniquity, but walk in his ways.
119:4You have commanded to keep your precepts diligently.
119:5Oh that my ways were directed to keep your statutes!
119:6Then should I not be confounded, when I have respect to all your commandments.
119:7I will praise you with an upright heart, when I shall learn the judgments of your righteousness.
119:8I will keep your statutes:forsake me not overlong.
119:9BETH. With what shall a young man cleanse his path? In taking heed thereto according to your word.
119:10With my whole heart have I sought you:let me not wander from your commandments.
119:11I have hid your promise in my heart, that I might not sin against you.
119:12Blessed are You, O YHWH:teach me your statutes.
119:13With my lips have I declared all the judgments of your mouth.
119:14I have had as great delight in the way of your testimonies, as in all riches.
119:15I will meditate in your precepts, and consider your ways.
119:16I will delight in your statutes, and I will not forget your word.
119:17GIMEL. Be beneficial to your servant, that I may live and keep your word.
119:18Open my eyes, that I may see the wonders of your Law.
119:19I am a stranger upon earth:hide not your commandments from me.
119:20My nephesh breaks for the desire to your judgments always.
119:21You have destroyed the proud:cursed are they that do err from your commandments.
119:22Remove from me shame and contempt:for I have kept your testimonies.
119:23Princes also did sit,and speak against me:but your servant did meditate in your statutes.
119:24Also your testimonies are my delight, and my counselors.
119:25DALETH. My nephesh cleaves to the dust:quicken me according to your word.
119:26I have declared my ways, and you heard me:teach me your statutes.
119:27Make me to understand the way of your precepts, and I will meditate in your wondrous works.
119:28My nephesh melts for heaviness:raise me up according to your word.
119:29Take from me the way of lying, and grant me graciously your Law.
119:30I have chosen the way of truth, and your judgments have I laid before me.
119:31I have cleaved to Your testimonies, O YHWH:confound me not.
119:32I will run the way of your commandments, when you shall enlarge my heart.
119:33HE. Teach me, O YHWH, the way of Your statutes, and I will keep it to the end.
119:34Give me understanding, and I will keep your Law:yes, I will keep it with my whole heart.
119:35Direct me in the path of your commandments: for in it is my delight.
119:36Incline my heart to your testimonies, and not to covetousness.
119:37Turn away my eyes from regarding vanity, and quicken me in your way.
119:38Establish your promise to your servant, because he fears you.
119:39Take away my rebuke that I fear:for your judgments are good.
119:40Behold, I desire your commandments:quicken me in your righteousness,
119:41VAV. And let Your chesed come to me, O YHWH,and your salvation according to your promise.
119:42So shall I make answer to my blasphemers:for I trust in your word.
119:43And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth:for I wait for your judgments.
119:44So shall I always keep your Law forever and ever.
119:45And I will walk at liberty:for I seek your precepts.
119:46I will speak also of your testimonies before Kings, and will not be ashamed.
119:47And my delight shall be in your commandments, which I have loved.
119:48My hands also will I lift up to your commandments, which I have loved, and I will meditate in your statutes.
119:49ZAIN. Remember the promise made to your servant, in which you have caused me to trust.
119:50It is my comfort in my trouble:for your promise has quickened me.
119:51The proud have had me exceedingly in derision:yet have I not declined from your Law.
119:52I remembered Your judgments of old, O YHWH,and have been comforted.
119:53Fear is come upon me for the wicked, that forsake your Law.
119:54Your statutes have been my songs in the house of my pilgrimage.
119:55I have remembered Your Name, O YHWH, in the night, and have kept your Law.
119:56This I had because I kept your precepts.
119:57CHETH. O YHWH,that are my portion, I have determined to keep your words.
119:58I made my supplication in your presence with my whole heart:be gracious to me according to your promise.
119:59I have considered my ways, and turned my feet into your testimonies.
119:60I made haste and delayed not to keep your commandments.
119:61The bands of the wicked have robbed me:but I have not forgotten your Law.
119:62At midnight will I rise to give thanks to you, because of your righteous judgments.
119:63I am companion of all them that fear you,and keep your precepts.
119:64The earth, O YHWH, is full of Your chesed:teach me your statutes.
119:65TETH. O YHWH, You have dealt graciously with Your servant according to Your word.
119:66Teach me good judgment and knowledge:for I have believed your commandments.
119:67Before I was afflicted, I went astray:but now I keep your word.
119:68You are good and gracious:teach me your statutes.
119:69The proud have imagined a lie against me:but I will keep your precepts with my whole heart.
119:70Their heart is thick as fat:but my delight is in your Law.
119:71It is good for me that I have been afflicted, that I may learn your statutes.
119:72The Law of your mouth is better to me, than thousands of gold and silver.
119:73JOD. Your hands have made me and fashioned me:give me understanding therefore, that I may learn your commandments.
119:74So they that fear you, seeing me shall rejoice, because I have trusted in your word.
119:75I know, O YHWH,that your judgments are right, and that you have afflicted me justly.
119:76please that your chesed may comfort me according to your promise to your servant.
119:77Let your tender mercies come to me,that I may live:for your Law is my delight.
119:78Let the proud be ashamed:for they have dealt wickedly and falsely with me:but I meditate in your precepts.
119:79Let such as fear you turn to me,and they that know your testimonies.
119:80Let my heart be upright in your statutes, that I be not ashamed.
119:81CAPH. My nephesh faints for your salvation:yet I wait for your word.
119:82My eyes fail for your promise, saying, when will you comfort me?
119:83For I am like a bottle in the smoke:yet do I not forget your statutes.
119:84How many are the days of your servant? When will you execute judgment on them that persecute me?
119:85The proud have digged pits for me, which is not after your Law.
119:86All your commandments are true:they persecute me falsely:help me.
119:87They had almost consumed me upon the earth:but I forsook not your precepts.
119:88Quicken me according to your chesed:so shall I keep the testimony of your mouth.
119:89LAMED. O YHWH, Your word endures forever in heaven.
119:90Your truth is from generation to generation:you have laid the foundation of the earth, and it abides.
119:91They continue even to this day by your ordinances:for all are your servants.
119:92Except your Law had been my delight, I should now have perished in my affliction.
119:93I will never forget your precepts:for by them you have quickened me.
119:94I am yours, save me:for I have sought your precepts.
119:95The wicked have waited for me to destroy me:but I will consider your testimonies.
119:96I have seen an end of all perfection:but your commandment is exceeding large.
119:97MEM. Oh how love I your Law! It is my meditation continually.
119:98By your commandments you have made me wiser than my enemies:for they are ever with me.
119:99I have had more understanding than all my teachers:for your testimonies are my meditation.
119:100I understood more than the ancient, because I kept your precepts.
119:101I have refrained my feet from every evil way, that I might keep your word.
119:102I have not declined from your judgments:for you did teach me.
119:103How sweet are your promises to my mouth! Yes, more than honey to my mouth.
119:104By your precepts I have gotten understanding:therefore I hate all the ways of falsehood.
119:105NUN. Your word is a lantern to my feet, and a light to my path.
119:106I have sworn and will perform it,that I will keep your righteous judgments.
119:107I am very sore afflicted:O YHWH, quicken me according to Your word.
119:108O YHWH, I ask You accept the free offerings of my mouth, and teach me your judgments.
119:109My nephesh is continually in my hand:yet do I not forget your Law.
119:110The wicked have laid a snare for me:but I swerved not from your precepts.
119:111Your testimonies have I taken as a heritage forever:for they are the joy of my heart.
119:112I have applied my heart to fulfill your statutes always, even to the end.
119:113SAMECH. I hate vain inventions:but your Law do I love.
119:114You are my refuge and shield, and I trust in your word.
119:115Away from me, the wicked:for I will keep the commandments of my Elohim.
119:116Establish me according to your promise, that I may live, and disappoint me not of my hope.
119:117Stay you me,and I shall be safe, and I will delight continually in your statutes.
119:118You have trampled down all those that depart from your statutes:for their deceit is vain.
119:119You have taken away all the wicked of the earth like dross:therefore I love your testimonies.
119:120My flesh trembles for fear of you,and I am afraid of your judgments.
119:121AIN. I have executed judgment and justice:leave me not to my oppressors.
119:122Answer for your servant in that, which is good, and let not the proud oppress me.
119:123My eyes have failed in waiting for your salvation, and for your just promise.
119:124Deal with your servant according to your chesed, and teach me your statutes.
119:125I am your servant:grant me therefore understanding, that I may know your testimonies.
119:126It is time for YHWH to work:for they have destroyed your Law.
119:127Therefore love I your commandments above gold, yes, above most fine gold.
119:128Therefore I esteem all your precepts most just, and hate all false ways.
119:129PE. Your testimonies are wonderful:therefore does my nephesh keep them.
119:130The entrance into your words shows light, and gives understanding to the simple.
119:131I opened my mouth and panted, because I loved your commandments.
119:132Look upon me and be gracious to me, as you use to do to those that love your Name.
119:133Direct my steps in your word, and let none iniquity have dominion over me.
119:134Deliver me from the oppression of men,and I will keep your precepts.
119:135Show the light of your countenance upon your servant, and teach me your statutes.
119:136My eyes gush out with rivers of water, because they keep not your Law.
119:137TSADDI. Righteous are You, O YHWH,and just are your judgments.
119:138You have commanded justice by your testimonies and truth especially.
119:139My zeal has even consumed me, because my enemies have forgotten your words.
119:140Your word is proved most pure, and your servant loves it.
119:141I am small and despised:yet do I not forget your precepts.
119:142Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and your Law is truth.
119:143Trouble and anguish are come upon me:yet are your commandments my delight.
119:144The righteousness of your testimonies is everlasting:grant me understanding, and I shall live.
119:145KOPH. I have cried with my whole heart:hear me, O YHWH,and I will keep your statutes.
119:146I called upon you:save me,and I will keep your testimonies.
119:147I prevented the morning light, and cried:for I waited on your word.
119:148My eyes are awake through the night watches, to meditate in your word.
119:149Hear my voice according to your chesed:O YHWH, quicken me according to Your judgment.
119:150They draw near, that follow after malice, and are far from your Law.
119:151You are near, O YHWH:for all your commandments are true.
119:152I have known long since by your testimonies, that you have established them forever.
119:153RESH. Behold my affliction, and deliver me:for I have not forgotten your Law.
119:154Plead my cause, and deliver me:quicken me according to your word.
119:155Salvation is far from the wicked, because they seek not your statutes.
119:156Great are Your tender mercies, O YHWH:quicken me according to your judgments.
119:157My persecutors and my oppressors are many:yet do I not swerve from your testimonies.
119:158I saw the transgressors and was grieved, because they kept not your word.
119:159Consider, O YHWH, how I love Your precepts:quicken me according to your chesed.
119:160The beginning of your word is truth, and all the judgments of your righteousness endure forever.
119:161SCHIN. Princes have persecuted me without cause, but my heart stood in awe of your words.
119:162I rejoice at your word, as one that finds a great spoil.
119:163I hate falsehood and abhor it,but your Law do I love.
119:164Seven times a day do I praise you, because of your righteous judgments.
119:165They that love your Law, shall have great prosperity, and they shall have none hurt.
119:166YHWH, I have trusted in your salvation, and have done your commandments.
119:167My nephesh has kept your testimonies:for I love them exceedingly.
119:168I have kept your precepts and your testimonies:for all my ways are before you.
119:169TAV. Let my complaint come before You, O YHWH,and give me understanding, according to your word.
119:170Let my supplication come before you,and deliver me according to your promise.
119:171My lips shall speak praise, when you have taught me your statutes.
119:172My tongue shall entreat of your word:for all your commandments are righteous.
119:173Let your hand help me:for I have chosen your precepts.
119:174I have longed for Your salvation, O YHWH,and your Law is my delight.
119:175Let my nephesh live, and it shall praise you,and your judgments shall help me.
119:176I have gone astray like a lost sheep:seek your servant, for I do not forget your commandments.
Chapter 120
120:1A song of degrees. I called to YHWH in my trouble, and he heard me.
120:2Deliver my nephesh, O YHWH, from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue.
120:3What does your deceitful tongue bring to you? Or what does it avail you?
120:4It is as the sharp arrows of a mighty man,and as the coals of juniper.
120:5Woe is to me that I remain in Meschech, and dwell in the tents of Kedar.
120:6My nephesh has too long dwelt with him that hates peace.
120:7I seek peace, and when I speak of it, they are bent to war.
121:1A song of degrees. I will lift my eyes to the mountains, from where my help shall come.
121:2My help comes from YHWH, who has made the heaven and the earth.
121:3He will not suffer your foot to slip:for he that keeps you, will not slumber.
121:4Behold, he that keeps Israel, will neither slumber nor sleep.
121:5YHWH is your keeper:YHWH is your shadow at your right hand.
121:6The sun shall not smite you by day, nor the moon by night.
121:7YHWH shall preserve you from all evil:he shall keep your nephesh.
121:8YHWH shall preserve your going out,and your coming in from now on and forever.
Chapter 122
122:1A song of degrees, or Psalm of David. I rejoiced, when they said to me, We will go into the house of YHWH.
122:2Our feet shall stand in your gates, O Jerusalem.
122:3Jerusalem is built as a city, that is compact together in itself:
122:4Where the Tribes, even the Tribes of YHWH go up according to the testimony to Israel, to praise the Name of the Lord.
122:5For there are thrones set for judgment, even the thrones of the house of David.
122:6Ask for the peace of Jerusalem:let them prosper that love you.
122:7Peace be within your walls, and prosperity within your palaces.
122:8For my brethren and neighbors sakes I will wish you now prosperity.
122:9Because of the House of YHWH our Elohim, I will procure your wealth.
Chapter 123
123:1A song of degrees. I lift up my eyes to you, that dwell in the heavens.
123:2Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden to the hand of her mistress:so our eyes wait upon YHWH our Elohim until he be gracious to us.
123:3Be gracious to us, O YHWH, be gracious to us:for we have suffered too much contempt.
123:4Our nephesh is filled too full of the mocking of the wealthy, and of the despitefulness of the proud.
Chapter 124
124:1A song of degrees, or Psalm of David. If YHWH had not been on our side, (may Israel now say)
124:2If YHWH had not been on our side, when men rose up against us,
124:3They had then swallowed us alive, when their wrath was kindled against us.
124:4Then the waters had drowned us,and the stream had gone over our nephesh:
124:5Then had the swelling waters gone over our nephesh.
124:6Praised be YHWH, who has not given us as a prey to their teeth.
124:7Our nephesh is escaped, even as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers:the snare is broken, and we are delivered.
124:8Our help is in the Name of YHWH, who has made heaven and earth.
Chapter 125
125:1A song of degrees. They that trust in YHWH, shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but remains forever.
125:2As the mountains are about Jerusalem:so is YHWH about his people from now on and forever.
125:3For the rod of the wicked shall not rest on the lot of the righteous, lest the righteous put forth their hand to wickedness.
125:4Do well, O YHWH, to those that be good and true in their hearts.
125:5But these that turn aside by their crooked ways, them shall YHWH lead with the workers of iniquity:but peace shall be upon Israel.
Chapter 126
126:1A song of degrees, or Psalm of David. When YHWH brought again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.
126:2Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with joy:then said they among the heathen, YHWH has done great things for them.
126:3YHWH has done great things for us, of what we rejoice.
126:4O YHWH, bring again our captivity, as the rivers in the South.
126:5They that sow in tears, shall reap in joy.
126:6They went weeping and carried precious seed:but they shall return with joy and bring their sheaves.
Chapter 127
127:1A song of degrees, or Psalm of Salomon. Except YHWH build the house, they labor in vain that build it:except YHWH keep the city, the keeper watches in vain.
127:2It is in vain for you to rise early, and to lie down late, and eat the bread of sorrow:but he will surely give rest to his beloved.
127:3Behold, children are the inheritance of YHWH,and the fruit of the womb his reward.
127:4As are the arrows in the hand of the strong man:so are the children of youth.
127:5Blessed is the man, that has his quiver full of them:for they shall not be ashamed, when they speak with their enemies in the gate.
Chapter 128
128:1A song of degrees. Blessed is every one that fears YHWH and walks in his ways.
128:2When you eat the labors of your hands, you shall be blessed, and it shall be well with you.
128:3Your wife shall be as the fruitful vine on the sides of your house, and your children like the olive plants round about your table.
128:4Lo, surely thus shall the man be blessed, that fears YHWH.
128:5YHWH out of Zion shall bless you,and you shall see the wealth of Jerusalem all the days of your life.
128:6Yes, you shall see your children's children, and peace upon Israel.
Chapter 129
129:1A song of degrees. They have often times afflicted me from my youth (may Israel now say)
129:2They have often times afflicted me from my youth:but they could not prevail against me.
129:3The plowers plowed upon my back, and made long furrows.
129:4But the righteous YHWH has cut the cords of the wicked.
129:5They that hate Zion, shall be all ashamed and turned backward.
129:6They shall be as the grass on the house tops, which withers before it comes forth.
129:7Of which the mower fills not his hand, neither the gleaner his lap:
129:8Neither they who go by, say, The blessing of YHWH be upon you, or, We bless you in the Name of YHWH.
Chapter 130
130:1A song of degrees. Out of the deep places have I called to You, O YHWH.
130:2Adonai, hear my voice:let your ears attend to the voice of my supplications.
130:3If you, O Adonai, straightly mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand?
130:4But mercy is with you, that you may be feared.
130:5I have waited on YHWH:my nephesh has waited, and I have trusted in his word.
130:6My nephesh waits on Adonai more than the morning watch watches for the morning.
130:7Let Israel wait on YHWH:for with YHWH is chesed, and with him is great redemption.
130:8And he shall redeem Israel from all his iniquities.
Chapter 131
131:1A song of degrees or Psalm of David. YHWH, my heart is not haughty, neither are my eyes lofty, neither have I walked in great matters and hid from me.
131:2Surely I have behaved my nephesh, like one weaned from his mother, and kept silence:I am in my nephesh as one that is weaned.
131:3Let Israel wait on YHWH from now on and forever.
Chapter 132
132:1A song of degrees. YHWH, remember David with all his affliction.
132:2Who swore to YHWH,and vowed to the mighty God of Jacob, saying,
132:3I will not enter into the tabernacle of my house, nor come upon my pallet or bed,
132:4Nor suffer my eyes to sleep, nor my eye lids to slumber,
132:5Until I find out a place for YHWH, a habitation for the mighty God of Jacob.
132:6Lo, we heard of it in Ephrathah, and found it in the fields of the forest.
132:7We will enter into his Tabernacles, and worship before his footstool.
132:8Arise, O YHWH, to come into Your rest, You,and the Ark of your strength.
132:9Let your Priests be clothed with righteousness, and let your Saints rejoice.
132:10For your servant David's sake refuse not the face of your Anointed.
132:11YHWH has sworn in truth to David, and he will not shrink from it, saying, Of the fruit of your body will I set upon your throne.
132:12If your sons keep my covenant, and my testimonies, that I shall teach them, their sons also shall sit upon your throne forever.
132:13For YHWH has chosen Zion, and loved to dwell in it, saying,
132:14This is my rest forever: here will I dwell, for I have a delight in it.
132:15I will surely bless her provision, and will satisfy her poor with bread,
132:16And will clothe her Priests with salvation, and her Saints shall shout for joy.
132:17There will I make the horn of David to bud:for I have ordained a light for my Anointed.
132:18His enemies will I clothe with shame, but on him his crown shall flourish.
Chapter 133
133:1A song of degrees or Psalm of David. Behold, how good and how comely a thing it is, brethren to dwell even together.
133:2It is like to the precious ointment upon the head, that runs down upon the beard, even to Aarons beard, which went down on the border of his garments:
133:3And as the dew of Hermon, which falls upon the mountains of Zion:for there YHWH appointed the blessing and life forever.
Chapter 134
134:1A song of degrees. Behold, praise YHWH, all the servants of YHWH, you that by night stand in the house of YHWH.
134:2Lift up your hands to the Sanctuary, and praise YHWH.
134:3YHWH,that has made heaven and earth, bless you out of Zion.
Chapter 135
135:1Praise YHWH. Praise the Name of YHWH:you servants of the Lord, praise him.
135:2You that stand in the House of YHWH,and in the courts of the House of our Elohim,
135:3Praise YHWH:for the Lord is good:sing praises to his Name:for it is a comely thing.
135:4For the Lord has chosen Jacob to himself, and Israel for his chief treasure.
135:5For I know that YHWH is great, and that our Adonai is above all gods.
135:6Whatever pleased YHWH,that did he in heaven and in earth, in the sea,and in all the depths.
135:7He brings up the clouds from the ends of the earth, and makes the lightnings with you rain:he draws forth the wind out of his treasures.
135:8He smote the firstborn of Egypt both of man and beast.
135:9He has sent tokens and wonders into the midst of you, O Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his servants.
135:10He smote many nations, and slew mighty Kings:
135:11As Sihon King of the Amorites, and Og King of Bashan, and all the kingdoms of Canaan:
135:12And gave their land for an inheritance, even an inheritance to Israel his people.
135:13Your Name, O YHWH, endures forever:O YHWH, Your remembrance is from generation to generation.
135:14For YHWH will judge his people, and be pacified toward his servants.
135:15The idols of the heathen are silver and gold, even the work of men's hands.
135:16They have a mouth, and speak not:they have eyes and see not.
135:17They have ears and hear not, neither is there any breath in their mouth.
135:18They that make them, are like to them:so are all that trust in them.
135:19Praise YHWH, the house of Israel:praise YHWH, the house of Aaron.
135:20Praise YHWH, the house of Levi:you that fear YHWH, praise YHWH.
135:21Praised be YHWH out of Zion, which dwells in Jerusalem. Praise you the Lord.
Chapter 136
136:1Praise YHWH, because he is good:for his chesed endures forever.
136:2Praise you the Elohim of gods:for his chesed endures forever.
136:3Praise you the Lord of lords:for his chesed endures forever:
136:4Which only does great wonders:for his chesed endures forever:
136:5Which by his wisdom made the heavens:for his chesed endures forever:
136:6Which has stretched out the earth upon the waters:for his chesed endures forever:
136:7Which made great lights:for his chesed endures forever:
136:8As the sun to rule the day:for his chesed endures forever:
136:9The moon and the stars to govern the night:for his chesed endures forever:
136:10Which smote Egypt with their firstborn, (for his chesed endures forever)
136:11And brought out Israel from among them (for his chesed endures forever)
136:12With a mighty hand and stretched out arm:for his chesed endures forever:
136:13Which divided the red Sea in two parts:for his chesed endures forever:
136:14And made Israel to pass through the midst of it:for his chesed endures forever:
136:15And overthrew Pharaoh and his host in the red Sea:for his chesed endures forever:
136:16Which led his people through the wilderness:for his chesed endures forever:
136:17Which smote great Kings:for his chesed endures forever:
136:18And slew mighty Kings:for his chesed endures forever:
136:19As Sihon King of the Amorites:for his chesed endures forever:
136:20And Og the King of Bashan:for his chesed endures forever:
136:21And gave their land for a heritage:for his chesed endures forever:
136:22Even a heritage to Israel his servant:for his chesed endures forever:
136:23Which remembered us in our base estate:for his chesed endures forever:
136:24And has rescued us from our oppressors:for his chesed endures forever:
136:25Which gives food to all flesh:for his chesed endures forever.
136:26Praise you the El of heaven:for his chesed endures forever.
Chapter 137
137:1By the rivers of Babel we sat,and there we wept, when we remembered Zion.
137:2We hanged our harps upon the willows in the midst of it.
137:3Then they that led us captives, asked of us songs and mirth, when we had hanged up our harps, saying, Sing us one of the songs of Zion.
137:4How shall we sing, said we, a song of YHWH in a strange land?
137:5If I forget you, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget to play.
137:6If I do not remember you, let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth:yes, if I prefer not Jerusalem to my chief joy.
137:7Remember the children of Edom, O YHWH, in the day of Jerusalem, which said, Rase it, rase it to the foundation of it.
137:8O daughter of Babel, worthy to be destroyed, blessed shall he be that rewards you, as you have served us.
137:9Blessed shall he be that takes and dashes your children against the stones.
Chapter 138
138:1A Psalm of David. I will praise you with my whole heart:even before the gods will I praise you.
138:2I will worship toward your holy Temple and praise your Name, because of your chesed and for your truth:for you have magnified your Name above all things by your word.
138:3When I called, then you heard me,and have increased strength in my nephesh.
138:4All the Kings of the earth shall praise You, O YHWH:for they have heard the words of your mouth.
138:5And they shall sing of the ways of YHWH, because the glory of YHWH is great.
138:6For YHWH is high:yet he beholds the lowly, but the proud he knows afar off.
138:7Though I walk in the midst of trouble, yet will you revive me:you will stretch forth your hand upon the wrath of my enemies, and your right hand shall save me.
138:8YHWH will perform his work toward me:O YHWH, Your chesed endures forever:forsake not the works of your hands.
Chapter 139
139:1To him that excels. A Psalm of David. O YHWH, You have tried me and known me.
139:2You know my sitting and my rising:you understand my thought afar off.
139:3You compass my paths, and my lying down, and are accustomed to all my ways.
139:4For there is not a word in my tongue, but lo, You know it wholly, O YHWH.
139:5You hold me straight behind and before, and lay your hand upon me.
139:6Your knowledge is too wonderful for me:it is so high that I cannot attain to it.
139:7Where shall I go from Your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence?
139:8If I ascend into heaven, you are there:if I lie down in Sheol, you are there.
139:9Let me take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea:
139:10Yet there shall your hand lead me,and your right hand hold me.
139:11If I say, Yet the darkness shall hide me, even the night shall be light about me.
139:12Yes, the darkness hides not from you:but the night shines as the day:the darkness and light are both alike.
139:13For you have possessed my reins:you have covered me in my mother's womb.
139:14I will praise you,for I am fearfully and wondrously made:marvelous are your works, and my nephesh knows it well.
139:15My bones are not hid from you, though I was made in a secret place, and fashioned beneath in the earth.
139:16Your eyes did see me, when I was without form:for in your book were all things written, which in continuance were fashioned, when there was none of them before.
139:17How dear therefore are your thoughts to me, O El! How great is the sum of them!
139:18If I should count them, they are more than the sand:when I wake, I am still with you.
139:19Oh that you would slay, O God, the wicked and bloody men, to whom I say, Depart you from me:
139:20Which speak wickedly of you,and being your enemies are lifted up in vain.
139:21Do not I hate them, O YHWH,that hate you? And do not I earnestly contend with those that rise up against you?
139:22I hate them with a complete hatred, as they were my utter enemies.
139:23Try me, O El,and know my heart:prove me and know my thoughts,
139:24And consider if there be any way of wickedness in me,and lead me in the way forever.
Chapter 140
140:1To him that excels. A Psalm of David.
140:2Deliver me, O YHWH, from the evil man: preserve me from the cruel man:
140:3Which imagine evil things in their heart, and make war continually.
140:4They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent:adder's poison is under their lips. Selah.
140:5Keep me, O YHWH, from the hands of the wicked:preserve me from the cruel man, who purposes to cause my steps to slide.
140:6The proud have laid a snare for me,and spread a net with cords in my pathway, and set grains for me. Selah.
140:7Therefore I said to YHWH, You are my El:hear, O YHWH, the voice of my supplications.
140:8O YHWH God the strength of my salvation, You have covered my head in the day of battle.
140:9Let not the wicked have his desire, O YHWH:perform not his wicked thought, lest they be proud. Selah.
140:10As for the chief of them, that compass me about, let the mischief of their own lips come upon them.
140:11Let coals fall upon them:let him cast them into the fire, and into the deep pits, that they rise not.
140:12For a man of tongue shall not be established upon the earth: evil shall hunt the cruel man to destruction.
140:13I know that YHWH will avenge the afflicted, and judge the poor.
140:14Surely the righteous shall praise your Name, and the just shall dwell in your presence.
Chapter 141
141:1A Psalm of David. O YHWH, I call upon You:haste you to me:hear my voice, when I cry to you.
141:2Let my prayer be directed in your sight as incense, and the lifting up of my hands as an evening sacrifice.
141:3Set a watch, O YHWH, before my mouth, and keep the door of my lips.
141:4Incline not my heart to evil, that I should commit wicked works with men that work iniquity:and let me not eat of their delicacies.
141:5Let the righteous smite me:that is chesed:and let him reprove me,and it shall be a precious oil, that shall not break my head:for within a while I shall even pray in their miseries.
141:6When their Judges shall be cast down in stony places, they shall hear my words, for they are sweet.
141:7Our bones lie scattered at Sheol's mouth, as he that hews wood or digs in the earth.
141:8But my eyes look to You, O YHWH God:in you is my trust:leave not my nephesh destitute.
141:9Keep me from the snare, which they have laid for me,and from the grains of the workers of iniquity.
141:10Let the wicked fall into his nets together, while I escape.
Chapter 142
142:1A Psalm of David, to give instruction, and a prayer, when he was in the cave.
142:2I cried to YHWH with my voice: with my voice I prayed to YHWH.
142:3I poured out my meditation before him,and declared my affliction in his presence.
142:4Though my spirit was in perplexity in me, yet you knew my path: in the way in which I walked, have they secretly laid a snare for me.
142:5I looked upon my right hand, and saw,but there was none that would know me:all refuge failed me,and none cared for my nephesh.
142:6Then cried I to You, O YHWH,and said, you are my hope, and my portion in the land of the living.
142:7Listen to my cry,for I am brought very low:deliver me from my persecutors, for they are too strong for me.
142:8Bring my nephesh out of prison, that I may praise your Name:then shall the righteous come about me, when you are beneficial to me.
Chapter 143
143:1A Psalm of David. Hear my prayer, O YHWH,and listen to my supplication:answer me in your truth and in your righteousness.
143:2(And enter not into judgment with your servant:for in your sight shall none that lives, be justified)
143:3For the enemy has persecuted my nephesh:he has smitten my life down to the earth:he has laid me in the darkness, as they that have been dead long ago:
143:4And my spirit was in perplexity in me,and my heart within me was amazed.
143:5Yet do I remember the time past:I meditate in all your works, yes, I do meditate in the works of your hands.
143:6I stretch forth my hands to you:my nephesh desires after you, as the thirsty land. Selah.
143:7Hear me speedily, O YHWH,for my spirit fails:do not hide your face from me, else I shall be like to them that go down into the pit.
143:8Let me hear your chesed in the morning, for in you is my trust:show me the way, that I should walk in,for I lift up my nephesh to you.
143:9Deliver me, O YHWH, from my enemies:for I hid me with you.
143:10Teach me to do your will, for you are my God:let Your good Spirit lead me to the land of righteousness.
143:11Quicken me, O YHWH, for your Name's sake, and for your righteousness bring my nephesh out of trouble.
143:12And for your chesed slay my enemies, and destroy all them that oppress my nephesh:for I am your servant.
Chapter 144
144:1A Psalm of David. Blessed be YHWH my strength, which teaches my hands to fight, and my fingers to battle.
144:2He is my chesed and my fortress, my tower and my deliverer, my shield, and in him I trust, which subdues my people under me.
144:3YHWH, what is man that you regard him! Or the son of man that you think upon him!
144:4Man is like to vanity:his days are like a shadow, that vanishes.
144:5Bow Your heavens, O YHWH,and come down:touch the mountains and they shall smoke.
144:6Cast forth the lightning and scatter them:shoot out your arrows, and consume them.
144:7Send your hand from above:deliver me,and take me out of the great waters, and from the hand of strangers,
144:8Whose mouth talks vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood.
144:9I will sing a new song to you, O Elohim, and sing to you upon a lyre, and an instrument of ten strings.
144:10It is he that gives deliverance to Kings, and rescues David his servant from the hurtful sword.
144:11Rescue me,and deliver me from the hand of strangers, whose mouth talks vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood:
144:12That our sons may be as the plants growing up in their youth, and our daughters as the corner stones, graven after the similitude of a palace:
144:13That our corners may be full, and abounding with diverse sorts, and that our sheep may bring forth thousands and ten thousand in our streets:
144:14That our oxen may be strong to labor:that there be none invasion, nor going out, nor no crying in our streets.
144:15Blessed are the people, that be so, yes, blessed are the people, whose Elohim is YHWH.
Chapter 145
145:1A Psalm of David of Praise. O my God and King, I will extol you,and will bless your Name forever and ever.
145:2I will bless you daily, and praise your Name forever and ever.
145:3Great is YHWH,and most worthy to be praised, and his greatness is incomprehensible.
145:4Generation shall praise your works to generation, and declare your power.
145:5I will meditate of the beauty of your glorious majesty, and your wonderful works,
145:6And they shall speak of the power of your fearful acts, and I will declare your greatness.
145:7They shall break out into the mention of your great goodness, and shall sing aloud of your righteousness.
145:8YHWH is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great chesed.
145:9YHWH is good to all,and his mercies are over all his works.
145:10All Your works praise You, O YHWH,and your Saints bless you.
145:11They show the glory of your kingdom, and speak of your power,
145:12To cause his power to be known to the sons of men,and the glorious renown of his kingdom.
145:13Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures throughout all ages.
145:14YHWH upholds all that fall, and lifts up all that are ready to fall.
145:15The eyes of all wait upon you,and you give them their meat in due season.
145:16You open your hand, and fill all things living of your good pleasure.
145:17YHWH is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works.
145:18YHWH is near to all that call upon him:yes, to all that call upon him in truth.
145:19He will fulfill the desire of them that fear him:he also will hear their cry,and will save them.
145:20YHWH preserves all them that love him:but he will destroy all the wicked.
145:21My mouth shall speak the praise of YHWH,and all flesh shall bless his holy Name forever and ever.
Chapter 146
146:1Praise YHWH. Praise you the Lord, O my nephesh.
146:2I will praise YHWH during my life:as long as I have any being, I will sing to my Elohim.
146:3Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man,for there is none help in him.
146:4His breath departs, and he returns to his earth:then his thoughts perish.
146:5Blessed is he,that has the Elohim of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in YHWH his El.
146:6Which made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in it: which keeps his fidelity forever:
146:7Which executes justice for the oppressed:which gives bread to the hungry:YHWH loss the prisoners.
146:8YHWH gives sight to the blind:YHWH raises up the crooked:YHWH loves the righteous.
146:9YHWH keeps the strangers:he relieves the fatherless and widow:but he overthrows the way of the wicked.
146:10YHWH shall reign forever:O Zion, your Elohim endures from generation to generation. Praise you the Lord.
Chapter 147
147:1Praise you the Lord, for it is good to sing to our Elohim:for it is a pleasant thing, and praise is comely.
147:2YHWH does build up Jerusalem, and gather together the dispersed of Israel.
147:3He heals those that are broken in heart, and binds up their sores.
147:4He counts the number of the stars, and calls them all by their names.
147:5Great is our Lord, and great is his power:his wisdom is infinite.
147:6YHWH relieves the meek, and abases the wicked to the ground.
147:7Sing to YHWH with praise:sing upon the harp to our Elohim,
147:8Which covers the heaven with clouds, and prepares rain for the earth, and makes the grass to grow upon the mountains:
147:9Which gives to beasts their food, and to the young ravens that cry.
147:10He has not pleasure in the strength of a horse, neither delights he in the legs of man.
147:11But YHWH delights in them that fear him,and attend upon his chesed.
147:12Praise YHWH, O Jerusalem:praise your Elohim, O Zion.
147:13For he has made the bars of your gates strong, and has blessed your children within you.
147:14He sets peace in your borders, and satisfis you with the flour of wheat.
147:15He sends forth his commandment upon earth, and his word runs very swiftly.
147:16He gives snow like wool, and scatters the frost like ashes.
147:17He casts forth his ice like morsels: who can abide the cold of it?
147:18He sends his word and melts them:he causes his wind to blow, and the waters flow.
147:19He shows his word to Jacob, his statutes and his judgments to Israel.
147:20He has not dealt so with every nation, neither have they known his judgments. Praise you the Lord.
Chapter 148
148:1Praise YHWH. Praise you the Lord from the heaven:praise you him in the high places.
148:2Praise you him, all you his Angels:praise him, all his army.
148:3Praise you him, sun and moon:praise you him all bright stars.
148:4Praise you him, heavens of heavens, and waters, that be above the heavens.
148:5Let them praise the Name of YHWH:for he commanded, and they were created.
148:6And he has established them forever and ever:he has made an ordinance, which shall not pass.
148:7Praise YHWH from the earth, you dragons and all depths:
148:8Fire and hail, snow and vapors, stormy wind, which execute his word:
148:9Mountains and all hills, fruitful trees and all cedars:
148:10Beasts and all cattle, creeping things and feathered fowl:
148:11Kings of the earth and all people, princes and all Judges of the world:
148:12Young men and maidens, also old men and children:
148:13Let them praise the Name of YHWH:for his Name only is to be exalted, and his praise above the earth and the heavens.
148:14For he has exalted the horn of his people, who is a praise for all his Saints, even for the children of Israel, a people that is near to him. Praise you the Lord.
Chapter 149
149:1Praise YHWH. Sing you to the Lord a new song:let his praise be heard in the Congregation of Saints.
149:2Let Israel rejoice in him that made him,and let the children of Zion rejoice in their King.
149:3Let them praise his Name with the flute:let them sing praises to him with the timbrel and harp.
149:4For YHWH has pleasure in his people:he will make the meek glorious by deliverance.
149:5Let the Saints be joyful with glory:let them sing loud upon their beds.
149:6Let the high Acts of El be in their mouth, and a two edged sword in their hands,
149:7To execute vengeance upon the heathen, and corrections among the people:
149:8To bind their Kings in chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron,
149:9That they may execute upon them the judgment that is written:this honor shall be to all his Saints. Praise you the Lord.
