Chapter 1

1:1Paul a servant of Theos, and an Apostle of Jesus Christos, according to the faith of God's elect, and the knowledge of the truth, which is according to godliness,
1:2To the hope of eternal life, which Theos that cannot lie, has promised before the world began:
1:3But has made his word manifest in due time through the preaching, which is committed to me, according to the commandment of Theos our Savior:
1:4To Titus my natural son according to the common faith, Grace, eleos and peace from Theos the Father, and from the Kyrios Jesus Christos our Savior.
1:5For this cause left I you in Crete, that you should continue to redress the things that remain, and should appoint Elders in every city, as I appointed you,
1:6If any be unreprovable, the husband of one wife, having faithful children, who are not slandered of riot, neither are disobedient.
1:7For a Bishop must be unreprovable, as God's steward, not self-willed, not angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre,
1:8But hospitable, one that loves goodness, wise, righteous, holy, temperate,
1:9Holding fast that faithful word according to doctrine, that he also may be able to exhort with wholesome doctrine, and convince them that say against it.
1:10For there are many disobedient and vain talkers and deceivers of minds, chiefly they of the Circumcision,
1:11Whose mouths must be stopped, which subvert whole houses, teaching things, which they ought not,for filthy lucres sake.
1:12One of themselves, even one of their own prophets said, The Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, slow bellies.
1:13This witness is true:therefore convince them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith,
1:14And not taking heed to Jewish fables and commandments of men, that turn away from the truth.
1:15To the pure are all things pure, but to them that are defiled, and unbelieving, is nothing pure, but even their minds and consciences are defiled.
1:16They profess that they know Theos, but by works they deny him,and are abominable and disobedient, and to every good work reprobate.

Chapter 2

2:1But speak the things which become wholesome doctrine,
2:2That the elder men be watchful, grave, temperate, sound in the faith, in love, and in patience:
2:3The elder women likewise, that they be in such behavior as becomes holiness, not false accusers, not subject to much wine, but teachers of honest things,
2:4That they may instruct the young women to be sober minded, that they love their husbands, that they love their children,
2:5That they be temperate, pure, keeping at home, good and subject to their husbands, that the word of Theos be not evil spoken of.
2:6Exhort young men likewise, that they be sober minded.
2:7In all things show yourself an example of good works with incorruptibility doctrine, with gravity, integrity,
2:8And with the wholesome word, which cannot be condemned, that he who withstands, may be ashamed, having nothing concerning you to speak evil of.
2:9Let servants be subject to their masters, and please them in all things, not answering again,
2:10Neither pickers, but that they show all good faithfulness, that they may adorn the doctrine of Theos our Savior in all things.
2:11For that grace of Theos, that brings salvation to all men, has appeared,
2:12And teaches us that we should deny ungodliness and worldly lusts, and that we should live soberly and righteously, and godly in this present world,
2:13Looking for that blessed hope, and appearing of that glory of that mighty Theos, and of our Savior Jesus Christos,
2:14Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all lawlessness, and cleanse us to be a peculiar people to himself, zealous of good works.
2:15These things speak, and exhort, and convince with all authority. See that no man despise you.

Chapter 3

3:1Put them in remembrance that they be subject to the Principalities and powers, and that they be obedient, and ready to every good work,
3:2That they speak evil of no man, that they be no fighters, but soft, showing all meekness to all men.
3:3For we ourselves also were in times past unwise, disobedient, deceived, serving the lusts and diverse pleasures, living in maliciousness and envy, hateful, and hating one another:
3:4But when that bountifulness and that love of Theos our Savior toward man appeared,
3:5Not by the works of righteousness, which we had done, but according to his eleos he saved us, by the washing of the new birth, and the renewing of the Holy Spirit,
3:6Which he shed on us abundantly, through Jesus Christos our Savior,
3:7That we, being justified by his grace, should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
3:8This is a true saying, and these things I will you should affirm, that they who have believed Theos, might be careful to show forth good works. These things are good and profitable to men.
3:9But stay foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the Law:for they are unprofitable and vain.
3:10Reject him that is a heretic, after once or twice admonition,
3:11Knowing that he that is such, is perverted, and sins, being damned of his own self.
3:12When I shall send Artemas to you, or Tychicus, be diligent to come to me to Nicopolis:for I have determined there to winter.
3:13Bring Zenas the expounder of the Law,and Apollos on their journey diligently, that they lack nothing.
3:14And let ours also learn to show forth good works for necessary uses, that they be not unfruitful.
3:15All that are with me, salute you. Greet them that love us in the faith. Grace be with you all, Amen. To Titus, elect the first bishop of the Church of the Cretians, written from Nicopolis in Macedonia.
